~Luther~
KNOCK
KNOCK
“Go away! I'm busy” I moaned to the person who stood at the door as I crossed my arms behind my head laying on my soft bed. Judging from the knock I could tell it was a girl.
“It's me, Steph!” she said, her voice tense.
I rolled my eyes, disinterested by her presence.
“Come in”
She entered my room, her face worried.
“My sister was kidnapped, Luther”
“What! How?”
I was shocked to hear that.
No woman has quite caught my fancy the way Emily did and I would like to pleasure myself with her, at least once.
“It was the rebels that attacked us earlier.
We need to rescue her”
My pupils narrowed as I heard Steph’s words.
Rescue? God forbid I risk my life, I lust for Emily but I won't risk my life for her.
“NO, Steph we’ll leave that to my brother and the warriors”
KNOCK
KNOCK
Another knock came again, this time with more force and strength used.
“Get in!”
“Why are you here Thorn?”
Thorn walked in, he wore a small smirk across his face.
“Steph, can you excuse us for a minute?” Based on Thorns' look, I could tell there was something we needed to talk about in private.
Steph walked out, her footsteps gentle across the floor.
”Shouldn't you be after Emily trying to rescue her”
“NO, Zayne’s anger got the better of him again, his out to rescue Emily all by himself” Thorn’s grin still uncluttered.
“What? Why would you let him go by himself? He stands no chance Thorn”
His brows scattered in shock.
“Didn't you want Zayne to die, he's going to die, isn't that good news”
“What about Emily, she's going to die if you don't help her”
Despite my argument, I couldn't help but think Thorn was right. This is my chance to get rid of Zayne, making me ruler of the kingdom.
I was left with a big dilemma, do I send out warriors to help Zayne and save Emily or do I stay back and let Zayne and Emily die.
“Sir we will send out the men on your command”
I remained silent as I gave a long thought about it.
“Send them out!” My voice thundered through the four corners of the room.
I will have another day to rule the kingdom, not today. Emily needs help.
“Yes sir!”
Thorn turned away from me as he headed out of my room. But not without leaving me a word.
Emily is a pest to this castle, for me she needs to go as well”
“Warriors gather here!!” Thorn screamed out, his voice now distant.
In a short while, the warriors gathered at the castle's courtyard.
“We head out for the forest, the king needs our help!”
After a short while the warriors marched out of the castle.
I came out of my room, and walked down the hallway.
“Luther can we talk?” a female voice reached my ears.
“Ahhh”
I moaned in annoyance, I'm not a people person so I don't like talking much.
But within ten minutes three people had already come up to meet me.
I reluctantly turned in the direction of the voice.
Reta.
“What do you want?” I asked straight to the point.
If I know Reta well enough, she doesn't just talk to me or anyone without asking for a favour.
“I want us to be a couple,” Reta said, her tears very low and discrete.
What!
I was surprised to hear Reta ask that.
“NO way!”
I immediately rejected it.
“You broke up with Zayne and think you can just date me”
“I can get you to the throne very quickly” her words caused me to pause in my ranting.
I couldn't help but be intrigued after what she said.
“How?”
“First, you will help me kill Emily!”
~Emily~
I could no longer see Zayne, his body was completely covered by the Lycans.
The corner of my eyes began to heat up, a couple of tears escaped from my eyes.
Zayne is dying and I can't do anything about it!
“Attack!”
I heard a distant scream.
Yes!
Our Lycan warriors are here. They charged for the rebels. They were are outnumbered but I believe they were more skilled.
The rebels turned away from Zayne leaving his body laying lifeless.
“Zayne!”
I rushed to him.
His eyes were shut close and his lips parted open.
“Somebody help him!” I screamed out.
A warrior rushed to me and joined me as we put either of Zayne’s arms on our shoulders. We walked him to a large tree and laid his body gently on it.
“I'm a trained doctor, let me check on him”.
The warrior who helped me to carry Zayne, knelt by his side.
He moved his head closer to his chest.
“His heart beat is very weak, he needs treatment right now” the man said in urgency.
My heart was pounding, with every passing minute I could feel him slipping away.
“We can't make it to the castle by foot, he will die”
As the war raged on between the Lycan warriors and the rebels, I spotted a horse across the field. It was tied to a wooden carving just outside an abandoned barnyard. Its haircoat was a touch of brown and milk beaming through the night. Its size and body was majestic.
“Phew”
I took in a deep breath and went ahead. I couldn't back down, Zaynewould die if we didn't get him to the castle.
I gently walked through some bushes, my footsteps were silent as I held in my breath.
If I get spotted by the rebels I would be killed in a heartbeat.
After a few more steps, I reached the barnyard. I hurried to the horse and untied it.
“OK buddy you're going to run as fast as you can past the field, OK” I said to the horse with a tender voice as I gently placed my hand on its coat.
I had little experience riding a horse but that mattered little.
I got up on the horse as I carefully set myself on it.
I swung the rope worn by the horse causing it to charge through the field and past it.
We stopped by the tree where we laid Zayne.
“Come on, let's get him up,” I said to the doctor. Together we pulled him up and laid him gently on the horse's back.
“Let's go buddy” I swung the rope again.
We rode through the thick darkness of the forest bypassing the branches.
I stole a glance over my shoulder, my heart sank at the sight of Zayne, pale and unconscious.
“Stay with me Zayn” I pressed my heels into the horse's sides, urging him to move faster along the narrow road of the forest.
The path narrowed, overgrown with tangled vibes, but we pressed on.
Suddenly, the trees began to thin, the path widening as we broke into a clearing.
Hope surged within me as we thundered toward.
I began to see the tower lights that hung above the castle.
“Yes, where here!” a surge of excitement bubbled up within me.
I rode the horse as fast I could to the castle.
“Help! Somebody” my voice echoed through the empty yard of the castle.
A few faces peeped through their windows, reluctant to step out.
“King Zayne, he's dying!”
On hearing my words a swarm of people rushed out and gathered round him.
Two of the men held him up and rushed him to the clinic.
I never would have imagined that I would be to a clinic twice in just a few days, but here I am.
I waited outside the room where Zayne was taken to.
My heart was racing, my body tense.
I then recalled the moment Zayne held my hand and gave me assurance that Steph would be fine.
The thought reassured my heart. Zayne is going to be fine.
As I sat on the bench, a bunch of thoughts came flashing to my mind.
Why did those rebel Lycans choose to kidnap me, out of all the people?
And they chose to tie me up to a tree, rather than kill me instantly.
It was as though the main reason they invaded the kingdom was just to kidnap me.
I was a bit flattered, that I was regarded so highly but I was just as worried, somebody might be after me and for some reason?
~Zayne~
The rebel Lycans swarmed over me, covering my whole body and leaving nothing to see.
“Arggg!!”.
The pain was unbearable, some of them bit at my thigh, tearing my flesh out, some scratched me with their razor sharp claws, tearing into my chest.
My blood spilled everywhere, an unbearable sight for me.
I was losing so much blood as my eyes became heavy, my body was too weak. The Lycans were relentless.
“Attack!” I heard a scream at a distance before gently shutting my eyes closed.
Everything went dark.
“Zayne?” a soft female voice whispered to me.
My eyes fluttered open, everything around me seemed dazed.
“Zayne you're up! ” the voice came again this time laced with excitement. My whole body was aching. I managed to turn my head to the direction of the voice as I battled through the pain.
“Emily” I managed to speak, my voice very pale. Her face looked tattered, her hair scattered.
“Where am I?”
I looked around the room, the flickering lights from the bulb hung above us.
“You're at the clinic sir, you have been unconscious for three days. The whole kingdom has been worried”
What? My eyes opened in shock.
Three days?
“I need to go to the castle, my people need me”
I pulled off the sheets over my body and battling through the pain, I gingerly stood up on my feet.
“Zayne you're not recovered, you need rest” Emily said, genuine concern evident in her voice.
“I must leave!” Ignoring Emily I gingerly
walked out of the clinic and went straight to the castle, Emily followed just behind me trying to convince me to go back to the hospital.
“He's back!” A manly voice screamed at the top of his voice to an rousing applause.
Claps thundered from corners of the castle.
My heart melted from the affection and care they showed me.
All my guards, warriors, kingsmen and maids gathered together at the castle's courtyard.
“Welcome back!” they all said simultaneously.
BELL RINGS
“What's happening?” I asked Emily who stood behind me whispering to her ears.
She seemed just as confused as me.
The bell hung above the castle, is only rung when there is danger or a very critical meeting.
“Sir, Luther seeks you for a meeting at the conference room”
Thorn said his voice was a bit more gentle.
What is Thorn up to now! I couldn't help but imagine.
“I need to go” I left Emily to herself as I gingerly took the stairs to the conference room, still battling through the pain.
DOOR CREAKS OPEN
I gently placed my hands on the knob and pulled it causing a creaking noise.
“Luther what is it?” I asked almost in annoyance.
I took a seat across from Luther, and we were also joined by Thorn.
“We are here to make a very important decision”
Luther said his gaze fixed on me.
“About your lowly maid Emily”
Emily? I furrowed my brows at him.
“Yes, Emily is a menace to your kingdom and we fill she should be banished”
“Menace?”I was dumbfounded by their sudden comments towards Emily.
“Yes, whenever she's around, bad things happen to people, first it was her sister, Steph then it was Reta and then because of her, you almost got killed but for Thorn”
“Rubbish! I'm leaving!” I stood up from my seat enraged by Luther's accusations.
“Majority of the kingdom has voted, she will be banished!”
My eyes widened in shock.
No way!
“You can tell her to start packing her things, she leaves before noon tomorrow”
DOOR OPENS
“NO she's not!!”
I turned to the direction of the door.
Rowan!
