~Reta~
We walked into the castle, darkness loomed over the castle and shadows at various corners. We stood at the center of the castle yard.
There was an uneasy silence which filled the castle.
'Hello?"
I yelled out my voice echoing through the void. I tried to get their attention but there was no reply.
'Reta we should go back somethings not right"
Luther's words reached my ears and then suddenly my eyes went black.
'Let me go!"
I squealed out as the strong palm of a creature pressed my eyes.
I struggled as hard as I could.
'Mhmmm..mm" he placed his other hand on my mouth and nostrils.
I could only mumble to his palms.
Gradually my body weakened more and more, I struggled to breath as my eyes gently shut close into darkness.
My eyes fluttered open into darkness. My mind was still clouded as I struggled to gain my bearings.
'Thorn? Reta?" a feint voice reached my eyes.
Luther!
'Luther where are we?" I asked Luther my voice tense, my heart racing. I could only lay down on the cold floor, my hands and legs tied up and look to the pitxh darkness that covered the room.
'I dont know" I heard another voice at a corner of the room, his voice very familiar.
Thorn!
DOOR OPENS
A glimpse of light shown through the door, before it was shut.
A figure covered in black walked in, his presence only seemed frightening itself.
'You intruders dare intrude the vampire kingdom"
The stoic voice of the figure sent chills down my spine. His voice echoed through the empty room.
'We mean no harm to your kingdom"
my heart was pounding, the words were struggling to come
'We came here by our own order and without the consent of the Werewolf kingdom"
My voice shaking as I lowered my head.
I watched in fear for the worst as the figure remained silent, he seemed to be studying my words to find any from of truth in them
THUM
THUM
The figure walked away to the door, the thuding noise of his footsteps growing feint.
'Guards" he seized in his movements, two guards came from the outside and stood either side of the figure. I was barely able to see a thing as the darkness continued to roam through the room.
'Take them to the chamber room" his last words before turning to leave.
The two figures, who I presumed where the guards walked up to Luther and Thorn and grabbed either one of them.
Let's me go!
Where are we going?
Thorn and Luther struggled but it was no use. Their hands and legs were tied up.
I was left alone to myself in the cold room filled with silence surrounded by the darkness.
'Reta Maculay of the Lycan kingdom" a distant voice reached my ears.
My eyes widened in shock. My mind was left to wander.
Who said that? How does he know me?
Suddenly the creaking of the door broke the silence and another figure walked into the room.
His hands reached for the switch and as he flipped the switch on the wall, blinding light covered every corner of the room as the shadows of the dark gave way.
I squinted my eyes, the light seemed to be torturing my pupils.
My heart raced as I took a sight of him.
A frightening sight of a vampire, his colorful red eyes spoke waves of the blood shed he had caused, looking cold dead into my eyes.
He stood his figure tall and well built.
His well trimmed hair a mix of grey and black. His skin was pale as the moonlight, his cheekbones tucked into his skin.
On his fingers, he wore rings, mystical rings of different types.
The thick black cloak he wore around him and a strange crown worn around his head served as an evidence of his royalty.
'You Lycans seek death, right?
Why else would you dare trepass the domain of the vampires"
'NO, we don't! We came here to make a deal"
I said to him my voice trembling.
He raised his eyebrows in confusion.
'Lycans want to make a deal with vampires… Haahaahahaha"
He burst into laughter, finding my words amusing. My heart sank in despair.
'You dare waste the precious time of Lord Vadka the ruler of the vampire kingdom"
The famous Lord Vadka?
From the tales I was told when I was little, he was the one who single handedly burn down the Lycan empire during the war, destroying everything in his sight.
My heart trembled even in more, across me stood the most fearsome being ever known.
'We are working against the Lycan kingdom, we are doing this without their consent"
An interested look appear on his face, as he carefully listened.
'We want to get rid of something and offer it as a sacrifice to your vampire kingdom"
'Impossible, I don't need anything you have" Vadka scoffed.
'So what do you wish to offer me?"
'The blood of a human!"
The look on his face was disbelief
Based on my research, I was able to find out that according to the vampire traditions, the blood of a human being sacrifice proceeds goodluck over the vampire kingdom for hundreds of years.
It's been centuries since a human stepped foot anywhere near there territory so they've found human blood very hard to come by.
'Impossible!
How could you…? "
The rage he once had burning was gone, confusion yet curiosity grew in him. He struggled to contain his excitement.
'OK, so you are telling me you wish to sacrifice a human being to us"
I nodded in reply to his question
'Why? What do you want in return?"
I remain silent giving myself a moment to think, other solutions came up in my head.
Why only kill Emily? An evil grin appeared on my face, a devilish thought I sprang up in my head.
'I want to you to free us from the human girl and also kill King Zayne of the Lycan kingdom"
~Luther~
With my head firmly set on the now tightened noose. My breath was going gradually even before the hanging
'Hang him!"
The words rung in my head. One of the vampires was set to push the lever.
This was how my life was ending! I will go with the regret that I won't get to rule over the Lycan kingdom.
'Wait!!..." a servant raced to the chamber room.
'Vadka says they should go free!" he gasped for air, struggling to catch his breath.
I breathe a huge sigh of relief.
They loosen the noose and gently pulled my head out.
'King Vadka seeks for you" one of the servant vampires told you.
There was now a certain confidence and pride oozing through my veins, it was as though I wore a cloak of invisibility.
I followed behind one of the vampire servants, who took me to Vadka's room. He sighted me form afar, his red eyes piercing into my soul with a death stare.
'Ahhh.. Luther, prince of the Lycan Kingdom and brother to the king"
A vampire dressed in a black cloak and dress said his voice very audible.
The rings, necklaces and the crown placed on his head, gave it away that he was Vadka, the vampire king.
His mere presence sent chills down my spine. He stood next to Reta, both of them grinning from ear to ear.
Thorn stood at a corner of the room, he hands folded behind his back.
I could only wonder what the reason for all the smiles might be?
He agreed to the proposal, maybe?
'Hello, Sir. Vadka, pleasure to meet you" I said as I extended a hand out and he obliged.
'I have agreed here with Reta, to take in your human maid, Emily and kill Zayne"
I froze still for a moment.
Kill Zayne?
No! That wasn't the plan
'Wait, kill Zayne?" I asked Vadka. His expression seem to change on hearing my question.
'I won't say it again, I will take in Emily and offer her as a sacrifice and I will help you kill Zayne"
I looked in Reta's direction, her brows furrowed at me, she seemed to be signaling me to be quiet.
I could only imagine that this was Reta's idea. She tends to over do sometimes.
'Well, it's a pleasure doing business with you Vadka" Reta said her voice now arrogant and confident, contrary to her earlier tensed voice.
'We'll take our leave now"
We gently walked out of the castle premises into the warm sun which shone at our faces.
'Reta, what happened?!!"
I burst out enraged at Reta, she wore a satisfactory smile across her face.
'You went behind my back to sacrifice Zayne!
'Zayne was going to go eventually, the vampires will make it much easier for us" Reta countered.
'We can't trust the vampires what if they go rogue. We have to handle Zayne ourselves"
'Enough!" Thorn who had been quiet a through suddenly bursts out.
'We'll just leave it to the vampires, it's too late to change anything.
Now lets go, we are late already, Lycans at the castle will start asking for whereabouts"
Thorn was right, it was already past dawn and people will start asking questions on where we are.
'OK, let's go!"
Despite this I couldn't help but worry, Reta should know better than to let vampires kill Zayne. If they do, it means as the next king I will have no choice but to go to war with the vampires.
~Emily~
'You're barely on time today, Emily!" I've grown not to expect any compliments from Crystal, her words to me were like ‘pouring water
I rolled my eyes to her statement, I've also grown to not submit to her like she was some mini god same thing applies to Reta, after all she's no longer Zayne's fiancee.
It suddenly occurred to me, I haven't seen in a while.
'By the way where's your friend, Reta, I haven't seen her in a while".
I asked Crystal.
Crystal seemed to freeze to my question, her face became weary as she became flustered. Her reaction left me in awe.
'Erm.. none of your business" Crystal said he words stuttering, her voice tense and shaky.
Somethings not right, why is she all of a sudden nervous? I've never seen her nervous and flustered before.
'Take this to the king and leave me alone!" she handed me the tray with Zayne's breakfast.
She couldnt have gotten rid of me any quicker than she did.
Those two must be up to something again, I just know it.
'Phew"
I took in a deep breath as I stood outside the door to Zayne's room.
I rested my knuckles on his door.
KNOCK
KNOCK
That's strange no response from Zayne. Is he still asleep?
'I'll just drop the tray quietly and leave, I won't want to startle him"
I gently opened the door, causing a loud creaking noise.
I quietly walked up to the stool next to his bed and place his tray gently.
I then took a little glanced at Zayne.
ZAYNE!
Where's Zayne?
'Zayne!!" I screamed his name, but no response.
Didn't he sleep here last night? Where could he possibly have gone.
My heart raced, this was unlike Zayne, he never leaves his room until he's done with breakfast.
I stepped out of his room went to the other rooms round the castle. No sign of Zayne!.
'Hey, Emily!" a familiar friendly voice reached my ears.
Rowan
'Why so stressed?" he asked
'Rowan, I can't find Zayne… He's not in his room or anywhere at the castle.
Rowan's expression soon changed, the early morning joy he had was soon replaced with worry.
'Where could he be?" I asked Rowan, he remained silent, he seemed to be in deep thoughts.
'I know where he is!" Rowan rushed out and I followed behind him.
We left the castle premises as we approached the forest.
Why would Zayne be at the forest?
'Zayne?!!! " My eyes widened in shock and my lips parted.
I saw Zayne laying naked on the ground, his body almost lifeless.
