~Zayne~

'Yes it's her!" Rowan said. I stood frozen at the spot. I was in disbelief at the sight of Emily.

She turned in my direction, before walking over to us, her steps gently.

She stood in front of me with an effortless grace, her stunning red dress hugged her figure in all the right places.

She wore a radiant smile that can light up any room, her eyes sparkled with warmth and curiosity.

A pair of expensive yet simple earrings dangled from her ears.

Completing her look, she wore a pair of strappy heels elevating her height, giving her an air of confidence.

She carried herself with a certain elegance and charm.

I haven't seen such beauty since….. Maya. I never thought the dress would look so good on anyone but her, but I was mistaken.

'Hi, Zayne. Happy birthday!" Emily said her voice dim.

'Thank you Emily! You look good!" I said in a low and soft tone.

Her cheeks turned red, as she tried her best to avoid eye contact with me.

'Emily, will you have this dance with me?" I said as I offered her my hand.

She was a bit reluctant, and understandably so.

But she finally came along.

She placed her soft hands on mine as we walked up to the stage.

Soon a gentle romance music was played. The mood was set for our dance.

I could feel all the eyes of everyone were fixed on us.

Some eyes were judging my decision to take a dance with my maid.

Some light murmurs castigating Emily reached my ears.

But I couldn't care less about what they think. In front of me was the joy of my life and my renowned hope for life.

I looked into Emily's eyes, as I pulled her closer to my body.

Her beautiful fragrance filled into my nostrils giving me a sudden warmth.

We cuffed her hands together, as I moved gently across the floor.

Our pattern was in sync and our movements simultaneously.

We danced for a while, some people admired, while others scoffed at us.

But I was enjoying the next ments of my life for a long while.

I felt like dancing with Emily all through the night.

We finished to a rousing applause from the crowd.

'I have a special gift for you, ' Emily whispered to my ear.

'Really? Can you show me?" I asked curiously.

I couldn't wait to see what surprise Emily had for me.

We got down from the stage and joined in with the crowd.

I approached the waitress, Flora. Emily follows from behind me.

'Get me two cups of beers please" I ordered her as she quickly left to the bar section.

After a short while she came back with a tray of two cups of beer.

'Here you go sir" she handed me a cup and then Emily.

We sat on a couch at a corner of the room. Other occupants of the seat left as soon as we sat.

'So can I see it?" I asked as I sipped my beer. 'Yes" she pulled out a golden locker from her breast and gently handed it to me.

I took it from her, and after taking a moment looking at the locket, I gently opened it.

'How?"

My mind went blank for a moment, I was totally thunderstruck.

I stared blankly into the picture for a while, not uttering a single word.

'Emily, how did you get this?" My question came again.

'Buried somewhere!" her answer really didn't help me much, in fact I couldn't care less where she found it.

'Emily, thank you!!" I instinctively reached out to her for a hug.

My full body crashed into hers.

'This is beautiful, I love it Emily.

I thought I'd never see this again. We searched the ends of this castle but it was all in vain.

I guess Maya wanted you to find it" I looked into her beautiful eyes, I felt like kissing her all night till dawn.

'Emily, let's take a drive to visit Maya, shall we?"

It was about time I took Emily to Maya's grave once more.

We managed to sneak out of the hall without gaining any attention.

Getting in my car we drove through the thick black darkness, and only the car headlight helped us navigate through the narrow path.

I pulled out my watch, time was almost against me.

In a few minutes I could transform into a beast, but I couldn't go back, I had to take Emily to Maya's grave.

After a short while we reached the cemetery, a place that I had become all too familiar with. We walked gently passed other graves until we reached the stone with read

‘Maya, the Lycan queen'.

I stood in front of her grave, Emily just a few steps behind.

'Maya, our last piece of love has been retrieved, I would love to wear this locket round my neck everyday. But I still have a life to live and a love to chase, so this locket will be much safer with you"

I bent down to my knees and opened a little hole in the sand used to bury her.

Gently placing the locket inside I covered the sand carefully caressing it.

'Phew!

Emily, let's go!"

I took a deep breath before turning to leave the cemetery.

I took another glance at my watch, I let out a light gasp on the view of my watch.

I had barely ten minutes left to take my medicines.

I marched on the accelerator as I sped through the darkness.

I could feel Emily's heart pounding, as we drove quickly.

Soon we reached the castle, I hurriedly parked the car and got off.

Emily took the stairs but to her surprise I wasn't behind her.

'Zayne, where are you going?" she asked, I was almost to my door.

'Emily don't worry about me, go have fun"

I reached for my door and on entering my room, I scrambled for my medicines, and poured a little into my mouth.

'Argghhh!!!" I groaned, blood soon came from my eyes.

Slowly, my eyes fluttered, my vision dim as I slowly slept off into the night.

~Emily~

I stood with Flora at a distance as Rowan conversed with Zayne. I glanced at them from time to time until I noticed Zayne looking in my direction.

His face was a picture of amazement.

'Phew!" I took in a long deep breath and bravely walked up to Zayne.

His eyes glittered like the sun as he stared straight at me.

His red suit had glitters sprinkled around it, making him unique from others.

His warm fragrance could easily be smelled from a mile away.

'Hi, Happy birthday Zayne!" I said to him,

'You look good, Emily!"

Zayne's words reached my ears. My heart melted in affection.

My cheeks soon turned red.

'Will you have this dance with me?" Zayne asked in a romantic voice offering his hand to me.

My heart was pounding intensively. Some glances from the crowd came our way, but I have to dance with Zayne.

Here goes nothing!

I brought forth my hand placing it carefully on his. With our hands held we walked up to the stage.

My heart was racing, my mind went flying.

I tried my best not to look at the crowd, but I could feel their stern and castigating eyes.

A soft romance music was played in the background.

Zayne pulled me closer to him, my head just an inch from his chest.

His strong fragrance reached my nostrils.

We clenched our both hands together, as we gently moved our bodies in sync.

I tried my best to look away from the stern eyes of the crowd as I grooved to the soft and warm beat of the music.

I felt like I was in a totally different world with Zayne.

I could easily dance all night with him.

But unfortunately for me, the music cut my dream short.

We stopped to a loud applause from the crowd.

We came down from the stage and went straight to sit on a couch by the left corner of the room.

The couch was completely vacated for us, they dared not sit in the same seat as their king.

He ordered two beers from Flora which she brought in no time.

I stared at my beer for a while, a bit reluctant to drink.

I have only tasted beer once in my life, when I attended a town festival at Riverview.

I was literally forced to drink beer, the initial taste was nice but I still kept my word to not drink beer till I was well matured.

'What's the big surprise you have for me?" Zayne asked curiously as he took a sip from his beer.

I gently pulled out a locket from a pocket in my bra where I kept it.

I handed it to him and after a brief moment to stare at it he finally opened it.

His Jaws dropped at an instant, his eyes wide opened. His face turned to a picture of disbelief.

'How?" he asked, not to anyone.

'How did you get this Emily?"his question came again.

'Buried Somewhere!" I answered briefly. 'Emily, thank you!!"

In a flash I could feel Zayne's body on mine, as I hugged me tightly.

'This is beautiful, I love it!" he was genuinely grateful for the gift.

A large burden on my shoulders was lifted. I fulfilled my promise to Zayne.

'I guess Maya wanted you to find it" Zayne's words echoed in my mind.

'Emily, let me take you for a drive!" Zayne snapped me out of my thoughts.

What drive is he talking about? Is he really leaving his birthday?

He snuck out of the hall, and I followed closely behind me.

We got in a car parked just outside the castle gate.

We drove through the dark road, our headlight the only source of illumination.

We reached the cemetery, and my doubt was soon confirmed.

He was going to visit Maya, but why? And can't it wait till morning.

We walked under the shivering cold of the night.

He stood in front of her grave as he muttered words.

After he finished, he bent low to his knees, and after digging a hole in her grave, he placed the locket I gave him in it before carefully filling it up.

Why did he put the locket in there? Well only Zayne knows why he does something.

We got back in the car and sped off. Zayne drove even faster as we returned back to the castle.

Is he late for something? He must be why else would he be so hurried to return back.

Barely ten minutes we were already back at the castle, he parked it roughly and followed him from behind, his steps quickened.

I was halfway up the stairs when I noticed Zayne wasn't behind me.

I came down stairs, surprised to see Zayne going to his room.

'Zayen, where are you going?" Zayne froze at the door, his hands already placed on the knob.

'Don't worry about me, go have fun!"

Before I could say another word, Zayne entered his room.

I could not but wonder what was wrong with Zayne.

I returned back to the party, joining Rowan laughing over our beer.

Our mood soon changed when we noticed two figures walking into the hall.

Luther and by his side was Steph. They walked around with a certain dark stride, exuding evil.

They approached us wearing an evil smile.

'Hi sis!"

Steph said, her voice wasn't harsh, but I could tell she was being sarcastic.

I didn't bother to reply to her.

I looked in the direction of Rowan and Luther as I stared at each other, the tension evident.

'Steph, let's go we won't want to stay around a socio killer" Luther said, his words piercing into mine as much as Rowan's.

'Argghhh!!" Rowan clenching his fist tightly, threw a loud fist at Luther dropping him to the floor.

Rowan!!

A loud gasp escaped from the crowd.
