~Emily~

Seeing Steph, and hearing those words she said to me completed an already great morning for me.

I knew there was still good in her, despite how Luther has managed to poison her mind.

I returned back to my room and got freshened up for the first time since leaving for the temple.

My body felt a million times better. The warm smell of natural oil exuded from me.

I carefully combed my hair, making it look more pleasant.

I was supposed to meet Rowan and Zayne at the fields to help Zayne master the sword.

I quickly got dressed and stormed out of my room.

Today just had a feel unlike others recently. The day was bright, and nothing could possibly ruin it for me.

I rolled with an extra spring in my step.

Reaching the fields, I spotted Zayne in the nide, he held the sword high above his head.

'Zayne!!"

I yelled out his name before rushing to the fields.

He didn't seem to hear me, so I walked closer to him.

'Emily!! Get out!!" I heard a loud scream coming from across the fields.

I squinted my eyes tightly to see the distant figure of Rowan swinging his arms rapidly in the air.

I was a bit confused by his words, why should I get out?

'Zayne Stop!!" Rowan yelled out again, this time to Zayne.

But Zayne shut his eyes close and went deaf ears to everything around him.

But before I could piece out Rowan's message.

A sudden force seemed to pick me up from the ground and with great energy throw me against a wall.

. My back crashed hard against it.

I laid on the bare floor, my body numb, my head felt as though it was on the verge of blowing up.

My vision was blurry, as I struggled to keep my eyes open.

Rowan laid next to me, his face laced with worry.

I could only hear faint noises around me, my eyes fluttered.

I struggled to keep my eyes open and soon I gently closed it.

And then just like that, everything was blank and void.

All the buildings, flowers and fields faded, replaced by a realm of swirling colors and muted sounds.

I found myself floating in a boundless expanse.

Endless shades of blue surrounded me, a vast ocean that sparkled with stars in a far distance.

'Woah!! Where am I?"

I couldn't believe my eyes.

'Is this heaven?"

As I drifted through this serene landscape, I could hear the laughter of the children, past moments echoing in my head and the silent whispers of my familiar voices calling my name.

But suddenly at the center of this gracious space, I saw a garden.

Filled with trees growing to a certain extent. The grass around is well trimmed.

The wildflowers swayed gently in a breeze that carried the scent of fresh earth and rain.

I drifted closer to it, picking up a daisy flower between my fingers.

I couldn't help but admire the beauty of its colorful patterns.

But just as I turned to explore further, a dark shadow flickered, casting a veil across my heart and across the gracious space.

The veil seemed to thicken as we ventured deeper into the garden.

The colors began to dye, darkness began to come.

Voices once joyous, now grew faint.

'It's time to leave!"

A faint voice whispered to my ear urging me to leave.

But how? How can I? I don't even know where I am.

Gradually everything around me began to fade into darkness.

'Oh no!" I need to leave now!

But how?

Panic surged into my heart. If I don't find a way back, I'll end up being lost in this abyss.

But just then, in the midst of the silence, a singular voice broke through.

It's tone resonant and firm, one I recognized all too well.

Zayne!!

His voice was laced with warmth and full of love.

'Emily if you're they're, I want you to know I'm sorry for what happened.

But now Emily, I want you to be strong. Strong for yourself, strong for Rowan and Steph, for me and for us.

I don't care if you hate me or love you, I just want you to come back.

Emily, I love you. Please don't go!" he pleaded, his voice genuine.

In that moment, the garden bloomed once more, colors bursting forth with renewed vibrancy.

But just then, my priorities seem to change. I couldn't waste any more time admiring the beauty of the garden, Zayne needs me and I miss him.

I drifted above the garden, looking around me for a way out.

Squinting my eyes tightly.

Just then, I noticed a sparkling light emerging from a tunnel.

Short on other options, I followed the light through the tunnel and then to the echoes of my world.

As I opened my eyes, the hospital room flooded my senses.

I laid on a bed, as the bright morning casted its warmth into the room.

'Zayne?" I whispered in a soft and faint voice. Just then a nurse steps into the room.

'You're awake!!"

She yelled out in surprise. Her eyes widened.

'What happened to me?" I asked the nurse.

'Well, you went into a deep coma. We weren't sure if you might survive at all. But to be awake in less than a day is a miracle."

The nurse said, making us wonder.

Was it Zayne's voice that saved my life?

'Can I help you with anything else?" The nurse asked in a kind gesture.

'Can I see Zayne?" I requested to see Zayne.

'Okay sure. I'll be right back." The kind nurse left the room.

After a few minutes, I heard loud footsteps approaching my room.

Opening the curtains, my heart eased seeing the figure of Zayne enter.

'Emily you're alive!"

Zayne said, his voice laced with relief yet joy.

'Yes, I am." I managed to answer. My body felt so weak even to speak.

Zayne took a seat next to my bed and held my left hand.

'Emily, I'm so sorry for what happened. It's all my fault.

I should have known you were there and… '

'Zayne, stop talking please." I interrupted Zayne as he ran out of excuses.

'It was an honest mistake from me too. I shouldn't run into the field like that knowing the power of the sword.

But what wasn't a mistake was what you said to me when I was in a state of coma.

Those words you said helped me return back here."

I said to Zayne, I could feel the guilt that weighed him down, vanish!

'Don't you have a sword to learn?" I asked Zayne.

'I'm not using the sword again. It's too dangerous. What if I hurt someone Love?" Zayne was understandably reluctant to use the sword.

'Dont stop using the sword because of me. If that's the way , then it's fine by me.

You're using it against Vadka, and not me." I gave out a piece of my advice to him.

After a moment to ponder, Zayne agreed and rose up from the seat to leave.

'Wait!"

I called out to Zayne. He was at the door ready to leave.

'I love you too!!"

And after a short moment of silence, a little surprised by my words, Zayne's lips curled up into a sweet smile.

Hours went by, but I felt even more helpless. My body was almost paralyzed, I could barely raise my hand.

The nurses said my body would feel like this for at least another three days.

That means I won't get to watch Zayne take on Vakda, and hopefully kill him.

'Emily."

The soft and gentle voice of a nurse reached my ears.

She stood just outside my door.

'You have another visitor." she said before walking away.

And just then, another figure walked into the room.

'Steph!"

I was more than surprised to see Steph infront of me.

'Hey sis. How are you feeling?" she asked, her voice laced with concern.

'Getting better." I answered, my response was as short as possible.

According to the nurses, it was better to avoid speaking too much.

'I'm really sorry for what happened. I failed to be there as your… '

'It's not your fault! ' I cut Steph off.

'You're right, it's not. But I know who is responsible for this… Zayne!"

Steph's words left me speechless. My mind went blank for a moment.

'Zayne will pay for this!!" Steph said. The horrible taste for vengeance laced in her words.

'Wait, Steph.. ' I didn't finish speaking when Steph stormed out of the room.

~Zayne~

'Emily is alive!!"

'What?"

I couldn't believe my ears.

She's alive.

'Give me a minute." I said to Rowan, dashing back into my room.

I grabbed my jacket and stormed out of my room in a haste.

We reached the clinic and then the room, where Emily was admitted to.

Rowan decided to wait outside for me.

I managed to control my excitement, as I gently pulled away the curtains.

In front of me was the pale yet beautiful face of Emily looking straight at me.

She laid so peacefully on the bed, like a baby across her mother's arms.

'Emily you're alive!"

I said my voice tinged with relief, yet overshadowed by the pure joy of seeing her.

'Yes I am."

I gently walked up to her and took a seat next to her bed.

'Emily, I'm so sorry for what happened. It's all my fault.

I should have known you were there and… ' I was speaking when Emily cut me off.

'Stop please."

'It was an honest mistake from me too. I shouldn't run into the field like that knowing the power of the sword.

But what wasn't a mistake was what you said to me when I was in a state of coma.

Those words you said helped me return back here."

Emily's words seem to lift a massive burden of guilt off my shoulders.

Emily then requested I go train with the sword. But I'm not sure I can.

The fear of harming another loved one, will always linger in me once I hold that sword.

'Dont stop using the sword because of me. If that's the way , then it's fine by me.

You're using it against Vadka, and not me."

After a few words of encouragement from Emily.

I took a moment to ponder, but eventually decided to give it another try.

'Okay. I'll give it another run. I'll be more careful this time!"

I got up from the seat and walked to the door. I was about to leave when Emily's voice reached my ears.

'Wait!!"

I quickly turned back to her direction in panic.

'I love you too."

Her next words left me speechless. My mind went blank for a moment.

I managed to get myself in check. But I still couldn't believe she finally confessed her love for me.

Soon, a bright smile appeared on my face before leaving the room.

As I walked back to my room. A feeling of renewed hope stirred up in me.

When Emily was in coma and in a certain death, I felt everything was over.

I would have willingly offered myself to die at Vadka's hands.

But now with her alive, I have something to fight for.

I have to fight for my kingdom, because if I don't then, Luther would cause them pain. I have to fight to also fight for Emily and us, because if I don't, then Vakda takes her as his slave.

I ran back to my room, going with an extra spring in my steps.

'Rowan, we're going out, one more time to train!

Wait for me in the fields." I said to Rowan passing him on my way to my room.

'Yes brother!"

I entered my room, and opened the case where I kept my sword.

'What?!

Where is it?"

The sword wasn't where I left it. It's gone!!!
