Even it was late at night, they still got a lift from a kind couple. Charlotte was troubled when Daniel told them his address. But it was obvious that she can't go back to the hostel, it will be scandalous enough to ruin her name.

In one meeting, she heard about his family and got a chance to meet them too. What a coincidence!


Daniel's mother, Julia, welcomed them. She was also confused that why his decent son who was carrying a girl, came home at this hour.

'Mom, Star is injured! Please give me the first aid box."

He made her sit on a couch, crouching down to apply medicine.


'It will sting a little. Bear it for a while."

Charlotte was looking at this gentle man who was treating her like a fragile flower. After her father's death, Daniel was the one to make her feel special like this. Even in humans, this kind of care was rare.


She clearly felt the bond of trust growing stronger between them.

Charlotte stayed in Mrs. Webber's room, who updated her with their whole background.

'Daniel's father died when he was ten. I am a nurse at General Hospital and Lila and Marry (Daniel's sisters) are in nursing college. I am happy that Daniel is getting serious with his life. That Riya jeopardized my son's life."

Rest of the night Charlotte listened to the complete podcast about Daniel's failed relationship and enjoyed herself with a new found hobby of gossip. She was never a talker but his Mom was so sweet and innocent that she couldn't help but match her flow.

At breakfast, Charlotte was introduced with girls who were super excited, considering her their new sister-in-law. Daniel's clearance didn't effect them, in fact they got a promise to stay in touch in future. Aunt Julia packed her lunch just like her kids. Charlotte's heart was brimming with the warmth of her affection.

'My family is a bit too much. I hope you won't mind them."

Daniel apologized about his family's behavior on their way back to the hostel which was casually brushed off by Charlotte.

'No need to apologize for their simplicity and love. You are lucky to have a family."

'What about your family, Star?"

Daniel finally remembered that he took a girl to his home he barely knew.

'I am an orphan. My uncle raised me. I have a cousin who is abroad for studies."

She repeated the same information that she was used to fill every where.

'Oh! I am sorry. That's why you are habitual of keeping things to yourself. I will not suggest you to be open at once but alternative methods of expressing yourself can be availed. I will prescribe some medicines for you, I hope you'll feel better."

Charlotte was under the impression of his child like honesty. She noted all his advices about her injured foot and came back to dorm, hopping on one foot. Lila's slippers helped her otherwise moving with heels was more strenuous.

She received prescription from Daniel the same day who sent medicines too as a gesture of thanks.

He also got the job in Charlotte's office with double pay, residence and a car.

Due to Daniel's daily reminder, Charlotte took (annoyed by his nagging) one dosage and miraculously, she slept for three hours.

After a long time, she felt alive!

Fresh blood from her friends was nourishing but nothing can be compared with the peace after a comforting sleep, this energy was unrivaled!

But her happiness was short-lived. Her manager called her for an annual dinner at her Mansion. Charlotte was already fed up, thinking about that show-off where different business men introduced her to their sons, hoping for more financial gains.

Pathetic!

Unlike last year, she decided to find a permanent solution for this problem. She was contemplating over it when Angie recommend a way out,

'What about taking a fake boyfriend to the party?"

Charlotte's eyes sparkled with the excellence of her suggestion, so Angie continued,

'I think take Dr. Daniel with you. It will be convincing if you introduce him as your date."

Angie's choice was not bad but the main hurdle was talking to Daniel about it. Charlotte tried to text him and even went to his office but came back silently as she wasn't comfortable with this whole planning. She was dreading about his reaction, how he will be angry that she thought so low and chose him for this degrading task.

Finally, the day of banquet arrived and Charlotte left alone in her car. She was wearing pink limited addition topless gown with some light makeup and jewelry but was nervous about facing those greedy business men again.

On her way, she asked the driver to buy a bouquet of orchids for party. They arrived at the Mansion after forty-five minutes.

She was staring at the front door, hesitating to go inside that lively party. Suddenly a warm arm wrapped around her waist. She flinched and raised her head, only to see cool-headed and heart warming Daniel,

'Daniel is on service, Madam Star!"

He bowed his head slightly, his usual charm was intensified with the black suit he was wearing. It was hard to differentiate that his attire was more attractive or his personality? With his aura so regal, he was standing tall in whole crowd.

Charlotte was Charlotte Lockwood in the party, niece of Sharon Lockwood, the owner of the Lockwood Jewelry studios. It was a nice discovery for her that despite being a doctor, Daniel was quite knowledgeable in business. His formal conversation made a great impact on the crowd. She also received stinky eyes from females who were jealous of their couple.

'It will be fun to see if they know that Daniel is single."

She was playing with her wine glass when Mr. Sharon introduced an over friendly round uncle,

'Star, meet Director Lawrence. His company is leading in diamond's business."

Star met him with a fake smile but her all formalities went to the Hell when he introduced her to his son,

'He is my son, Rick Lawrence. He is also a student in Colorado University."

Charlotte was done with this diplomacy, so she excused herself for a bathroom break and texted his manager to cancel all the deals with this Lawrence group.

Scene of Angie's blooded body and her fearful screams were still fresh on her mind, terrorizing her soul. She barely stopped herself from snapping his neck as killing can be a fatal addiction for a vampire. Once you taste the luxury of hunting your prey, you can't control yourself ever again.

Charlotte went to the pool area in the backyard, far away from the main party hall. She was scrolling social media there when Daniel's scent caught her attention.

'So you are considering to drown your anger in cool water. Good approach, but the weather is too cold for it's execution."

Daniel came with a plate of snacks, which she found a wonder as she was damn hungry.

'You took my advice wrong. Back in the party, you were shaking with anger. Rick's father is your uncle's partner, you can't offend him openly."

There he goes, a lecture with Daniel again!

'I can and I will. My uncle will never deal with ruffians like them. Rick should feel lucky that I didn't report him to the police."

Sensing Charlotte sensitivity over this matter, Daniel changed the topic,

'Being rich is crazy. You can hire a date through your secretary. Can I ask why you didn't call me directly? I didn't mind it but it will feel more special if you would have asked me personally."

'Secretary?"

She was wondering about this nonexistent thing when Angie's name flashed across her mind.

'It was Angie's idea to call you. I was thinking of attending this party alone."

He chuckled while looking around the whole surrounding,

'You prefer to face things alone rather than taking my help. Good to know this!"

Charlotte rolled her eyes and tried to cheer him up,

'It's not you Daniel, it's me. I feel scared when someone helps me without any intention."

'Well, I have intentions of getting money in return. Perhaps, a raise."

Daniel instantly named his demand, making her smile at his business mind.

'I don't know about a raise, I have a spoiler alert. Uncle is sending you on a two weeks workshop in New York. It can get you a bonus."

Daniel began to shower her with cheesy lines of heart felt gratitude as usual. Charlotte was literally bored of this broadcast, she got up and they left this party together.

Next morning, she went for the class as routine but the students were more hostile than usual. Cat fights were common among rich students but she never focused on their pitiful supporter's behavior. She went across groups of boys and girls from the corridors, everyone turned and pointed towards her.

Disturbed by their overall disgusting gestures, Charlotte went straight to the notice board as mainly hot gossips were posted there. But today's news was the one that she never anticipated…
