You are so genius, Jay. Can you please help me in my studies?"
The same cheerful voice echoed in Jason's mind, but this time he was in an academy. Different students wearing black and blue cloaks were chattering in their free time carelessly, Jason found himself as a student like them.
'It's so fun to hang out with you, Jay."
A warm hand was placed on his shoulder, he flinched and turned to see the boy haunting his sleep.
'Mallon?"
An unknown name slipped from his lips.
'I will see you in the evening, Jay."
Scene changed, and Jason's steps began to rush in the deep forest.
'Don't run, Mallon. I can scent you!"
His own menacing voice sent shivers down his spine.
'Gotcha!"
Hiding behind a tree, Mallon's racing heart disclosed his hide-out. While clutching his neck, Jason extended his fangs and attacked on Mallon, his begging reverberated the whole forest.
'You, You are a monster. Don't do this to me.
It hurts. Ahh!"
'No!"
Jason was jolted awake with a petrifying screech, his chest heaving like a drill machine.
'Mallon!"
Clouds of darkness evaporated from his eyes and haze years came rushing to his mind. This dream was about his first kill, where he killed his best friend Mallon two days after transition.
Every hunt, every scream, every kill, flashed across his eyes, ripping his soul apart.
'You were right, Mallon. I am a monster."
Jason hugged the pillow, tears of blood gushed out of his eyes. Then a realization hit him hard.
'Gamma Mathew looks exactly like Mallon. He is....."
Jason was paralyzed on the spot, his fear became tangible, a living force that crept over him like some hungry beast.
'It's impossible. Reincarnations are not real."
His heart sank when he denied the only possible reason for that exact face.
'No, it's not real. Heaven can't be this cruel to me."
…
Growing affection of Eric and Melinda and no reprisal from Charlotte frustrated Liam, this all mayhem made him forget his own heartbreak.
In the list of several disadvantages of being a sired vampire, graphic memory was on the top. Ten years long relationship of care and respect was fresh in his mind like day one, he felt even sadder with the prevailing darkness.
He admired the setting sun alone, Rory's laughter possessed the light in his heart.
'Weight of misery can be lessened by sharing it with someone, Sir Liam. Life is too short to spend in gloominess."
Amy, who was in charge of Liam's meal, searched him for his weekly rations for a long time and then saw him on the edge of the cliff.
'Some secrets should stay buried until death, Amy. Embarrassment of sharing your stupidity is fatal."
'You are still blaming yourself!"
Amy sighed and sat down beside him.
'Alpha and Luna know that you are innocent. And every person is a lesson, learn from your mistakes and move on. That's how life works."
Liam kept staring in the sky and asked.
'It's been ten years, Amy, you are wearing white to honor your mate's death. You should also move on."
For a moment, Amy was speechless with Liam's personal attack, but she smiled at his bitterness.
'You are angry with Luna."
Liam jumped as if he was hit by a bus.
'For your information, I saw her going to the Alpha's office."
'Perfect!"
…
Being a leading business lady, Charlotte had come to term with the ultimate fantasy of a businessman: a beauty with brain. She took a last look at her professional attire and strode towards Alpha office confidently.
Liam's chit-chat nature gave her a vague idea of Eric's business goals, as soon as Charlotte got her things back, she decided to strike.
That Maddy was getting on her nerves, a good but long-lasting smack was necessary on her fake face. Standing outside the office room, Charlotte counted to ten and then knocked.
'Yes!"
Hearing Eric's professional tone, she entered the room in a great mood, but Melinda's presence ruined her happy demeanor.
As there was no way going back and Eric's surprised gaze was observing her, Charlotte began.
'This is my proposal for your construction company in Scotland, Alpha. Please take a look."
Eric received her file and gestured her to sit before him. Melinda dragged a spare chair and sat beside Alpha, her concealed hatred blazed in her amber orbs.
'Thirty percent partnership is a big demand for a company who had no business here in England. It's not impressive, so for a new company, I can offer ten percent profit maximum."
'Liar!"
For the first time, Charlotte praised the mate-bond between them as she was able to feel his interest in that deal.
'Definitely, my company has no market value in England, but I am opening its branch here after a successful launch in New York. My terms of collaboration are in your interest, Alpha. Basically, your organization will be a referral for five years, I don't think thirty percent profit is a big slice."
'We have already plenty of suppliers in Scotland, why should I sign this deal with you?"
Eric closed the file and asked a final question.
Charlotte smiled inwardly, and leaned in while resting her hands on the table.
'Because I am saying!"
She lifted up an eyebrow and gave him a challenging look.
'That's final, then."
Eric chuckled and stretched his hand for a handshake .
'Deal."
Charlotte held his hand with a victorious grin.
'I will let you know when the papers are ready."
'Sure!"
Before leaving, Charlotte threw a sympathetic glance on Melinda, who was burning like Hell for sure.
'Game on!"
Melinda mouthed to Charlotte, she nodded her head in response.
'Challenge accepted!"
