After staying alone for twenty-four hours, Noah started to feel ill and exhausted, unfit to perform the additional duty of the head warrior.
'I am sick, please accept my one-day leave."
Eric mind-linked Mathew to keep an eye on him. As expected, Noah shifted on the way to his home bolted out towards his sister's Pack.
'He was lovesick, Alpha."
Mathew displayed his white teeth while reporting about the business work in New York, Eric fisted his hair in frustration.
'This is not fair, little one."
He threw a heap of sixty files in front of Charlotte and cried out.
'You have left all the work to me. I don't even have time to breathe."
Eric pulled out his white handkerchief and waved it in front of her eyes.
'Seize fire now. Get back to work."
Charlotte caught his peace offering and chuckled nervously.
'I didn't mean to give you a hard time. Leave this here, I will handle it. My laptop was bugging me, Sinjin is repairing it."
Eric sighed in relief that his mate was not angry anymore.
'Why do you repair the old one? Ask him to send you a new laptop."
'Hey!"
Charlotte stopped him as he was going to mind-link Sinjin to destroy her laptop.
'It's not a big deal. I am happy with my lappy. I like it. Don't worry, this work will be done today."
They both gaped to see Julian coming into the Pack house, all ready for work.
'Beta Noah has informed me about his leave. I will cover him for today."
'What about Ramla? How is she?"
Julian bowed his head and replied to his Luna.
'Ramla is resting. I have set a magical ward around her. She is safe."
Eric half-heartedly allowed him to resume his duty, Julian called Ramla on the way to the warrior's office.
'Alpha has permitted me to work today. Amy and Orion will deliver your lunch, and snacks. You can call me anytime. I will also come to check on you."
Ramla smiled at her mate's care and uttered a word.
'Yes."
Her slow recovery was bothering her, but Julian was content with it, considering it as the blessing of the Moon Goddess.
'One minute, mate. I will call you later."
His feet got cemented on the ground, his eyes widened to see the scene in front of his eyes.
'Why are you so slow? Faster, warriors. Your enemy is not going to ask for your permission to attack."
Jason was standing at Julian's place to guide the new soldiers, using his trademark sentences, to boost their confidence. He stood there for a while to observe their performance and then stalked towards Jason slowly.
As there was enough noise in the Pack ground, he couldn't sense a presence behind him. He jumped when a thick warm hand tapped on his shoulder.
'Who's here?"
Jason spun around quickly, a mini nuclear explosion shook his petite figure.
'I, I was just. I didn't ... Shoot!"
Julian's pitch-black orbs were emitting fire like an outrageous dragon, Jason turned and ran away.
'Mathew."
He screamed at the top of his lungs; Julian also ran after him in a second and launched at him from some distance. When Mathew reached the ground after an urgent call, he growled frantically.
'Leave my mate!"
Jason was hanging in the air, as Julian's hand caught his collar from behind, his pitiful face was the epitome of cuteness.
'No offense, Mathew. Your mate was running here and there, so I kept him for you to receive."
'I am not a pet. You scared me."
Jason was literally in tears, he scowled at Julian's booming face. Mathew clutched him to his chest and rubbed his back, Jason's frantic heartbeat was fueling his anxiety.
'You did this deliberately, Julian. You are aware that Jason is a little bit naughty, but you..."
Mathew was short of words to proceed with his case, Julian placed his hand on his shoulder.
'I want to thank both of you, Mathew. You have helped me in my tough time. I will never forget your favor."
He clasped his hands and bowed his head, Gamma Mathew's breath struck in his throat to witness the brand-new version of Julian.
'And for Jason."
He flicked his hand and raised his arm; a beautiful rainbow surrounded their couple.
'I am sorry. I have no intentions of frightening you."
…
'The present, it's here."
At lunchtime, Julian had to go to the Alpha's office first to convey the fragile box. Eric opened it after he left, and admired the Alpha King's taste.
'It's magnificent. His Majesty has impeccable taste."
He went to the Pack house and showed it to Charlotte, who was working in the study.
'It's so elegant. I will buy it for you one day."
Hearing the longing in his voice, she raised her head and saw that 'A Heritage in a bloom" necklace.
'You know that I like anklets. Besides, this necklace is the most precious to me. I am not removing it, even after my death."
Charlotte kissed her red Zircon pendant and looked at her huffing partner.
'It was so cheap. Honestly speaking, there was not any viable option there. You forced me to buy this."
Although, Eric was also wearing the same necklace, he was not a fan of that commonly found gemstone.
'It's not about the value, Eric. It's all about bonds. The stones available in the shop are a part of our Goddess's laws. SHE only accepts couples with these stones."
Eric rolled his eyes and sat beside her.
'So, Casper will also give his wife the necklace from that shop?"
'Yes. The rules are the same for every vampire."
She wrapped that jewelry box carefully, Eric began to search her wardrobe.
'You have nothing to wear. Let's go for the shopping."
She laughed at his fret and brushed off his worry.
'I have packed a gown for the wedding. Select your outfit, I will pack it later."
Eric checked the bag first and inspected the gray gown, the one he bought for their first date.
'You saved this dress. I thought..."
He felt Charlotte's burning gaze on him, and swiftly changed the flow of conversation.
'I will wear the gray suit too."
'Good. We will leave tonight. The ceremony will be held right after the sunrise. It's a Royal tradition."
Eric, who was expecting the coronation in the evening, was baffled by this information.
'We arrange mating ceremonies in the evening. Why is it in the morning? Will we get breakfast instead of the wedding meal?"
'We are going there to congratulate His Majesty, not on a buffet. Moreover, it's convenient. We will come back before lunchtime. This work will not be done on its own."
They chatted for half a day in the study, unaware of the fact that two curious ears were listening to their planning actively.
