A troubled me awoke to a noisy event below the floor of my bedroom.

I was wondering what it was that was going on so late at night. Loud music was blaring into the night and no one seemed to care that a few beings could be observing their nightly routine called, Sleep.

I placed my pillow over my head, trying to shut off the noise but it was not working a bit.


I heard the cackling laughter of voices I made out to be Emily's and Sandra's voice.

Their noise kept me sleeping, so I slipped out of bed and put on my night wear.


They flung the door open and staggered into the bedroom, laughing boisterously.

'Oh… you're awake," Emily stuttered, falling onto her mattress like a log of wood.

'Why are you both so excited and what is going on downstairs?"

'Wait a minute, you had no idea?" Sandra asked, her eyes widening with awe as she assumed the space beside me on my bed.

'What are you doing?" I asked, gazing at her with displeasure as she tucked her drowsy, tipsy self beside me in my bed.

'What does it look like I am doing? I am sharing your bed space with you tonight. I cannot find my room keys."

I could smell the toxic odour of alcohol oozing from her breath.

'Why are both of you so wasted? What is going on downstairs?"

I was quite anxious to know what fun I was missing out on.

Emilia turned to me, her eyes nearly shutting with sleep.

'It is the Wolf's initiation night. It is always a big deal for the Black Devil pack."

'Oh, so, there's a party for the new initiates? Why didn't you two wake me up for the occasion?"

'The party is still on if you wa-n-t to joi-n,..." Sarah stuttered, falling into a deep sleep.

Ina few minutes, the two of them were fast asleep and I was the only one awake.

I got out of bed and changed into something a bit more comfortable, desiring a fun event to clear my head and force myself back to sleep.

'Maybe I could get as drunk as they both are and live a little," I thought to myself, letting myself out of the door.

I could hear the loud music as I got closer to the hallway. The party was definitely lit and I could feel it.

I could see the initiates doing their special dance around the centre of the circle that was created for them.

I found a corner of the large hall and sat there, getting myself a glass of the drinks that were taken round.

'After being up to this hour, I hope you will show up at my door on time tomorrow."

The deep voice caused me to jolt and I turned back to confirm that it was him.

My gaze locked with Alpha Axel's gaze as he stared at me with a stern look

'I am sorry Alpha," I curtsied, standing to my feet immediately.

'Why are you awake? You cannot be here and eventually fail on your duties tomorrow. Get back into your bedroom right away!"

I felt a surge of embarrassment within me. He sounded so mean to me and that bothered me a bit.

'I just wanted to hang around the party field for tonight. I thought it would be relaxing to do so."

'Are you arguing with my authority?" he asked, his voice echoing through the loud music.

I shook my head and scuttled away from his sight, wondering what was causing the sudden change in attitude towards me. He seemed different from when I first met him.

'Did I do something terrible?" I whispered to myself, getting away from the party as fast as my wobbly feet could carry me.

I felt a bit of embarrassment in my chest and clutched my chest tightly, wondering how our relationship dwindled to become that unpleasant.

'I guess I can never be more than a maid," I thought to myself, pushing my door open and throwing myself in my bed, feeling terribly sad.

The light of dawn streamed in through the window and hit my face with a sudden awakening.

'It is morning!" I squealed, jumping off my bed. Emilia and Sandra had woken up earlier and did not even wake me.

I felt my heart racing with panic, wondering if the Alpha was already up and would have noticed that I had not appeared at his chambers.

He shunned me in the middle of the night for not showing up and I knew that this was now a trap for me.

I hurried down to the hall to get to the stairs that led to his bedroom.

I could not afford to remain in his bad books.

'Why are you racing like you lost something?" Emilia asked, smiling at me.

'I woke up so late. You two did me no good last night."

'Oh dear. I am so sorry I should have woken you up but I was not sure you were ready to face the day."

'Like you do not know how stern the Alpha can be with timing . Has he asked about me?"

'I am not sure but I heard his voice earlier this morning ranting about some staff who were not doing their chores well enough."

My heart seemed to stop at that moment. I just hoped silently and prayed in my heart that I was not one of those staff.

Once I got to his room, I did not bother knocking on his door because he had informed me that I could always walk in.

The room was calm and it did not seem like anyone was there. I walked over to his study to resume my tidying from there but the door was surprisingly closed.

Then I heard his voice, loud he was ranting.

'She is the most unqualified staff you have ever made available to me Mrs Caul. You need to find someone to take over from her."

'But sir, I thought you commended her a few days ago?"

'And I am now saying that I need a damn replacement! Is that too difficult to do?"

I just stood by the door, feeling deserted and unlucky.
