AXEL P.O.V

When I ran to the scene of the battle, I shifted into my wolf's form.

I killed four rogues immediately with anger.

Damian rushed to my side.

'Alpha, you should have stayed back, they are just a small pack of rogues we can handle," he said.

'Damian, look behind you...." I warned him as a rogue wolf tried to attack him unannounced.

He rushed at the wolf and I growled. The other wolves retreated the moment they heard my growl, they knew as much as not to intrude on an angry Alpha.

One of them stood his ground and rushed at me. I was enraged, and I gave him a killing blow, and he fell and never stood up again. Stupidity really kills the stubborn fly.

I shifted when we were sure they had all retreated back into the jungle and wore the spare clothing a guard brought to me with Damian following me immediately.

'Instruct the guards to clean it up and take our wounded men to the pack's clinic."

'Done, but our men didn't sustain any injury, but we killed fifty of the rogues," he reported.

'Where did they come from?"

'From the west," he replied.

Damian was very effective in his duty and loyal too, he's the only person I trust in this pack filled with scheming fools.

We were bestfriends before I became the Alpha and I immediately chose him as my beta as I couldn't think of any other person that was fit for the position except him.

" Good, you and your men should expect a raise," I said.

"Thank you, Alpha," he said, grinning from ear to ear.

I went back to the pack to inspect how the pack members were faring.

When going through the pack rooms, the conversation in one of the rooms caught my attention.

'Our pack is empty without a Luna, and the Alpha doesn't want to do anything about it."

"He hasn't found his mate. Once he does, he will crown her as the Luna. You know that, stop talking bad things about the Alpha."

"He's just busy fooling around with that concubine of his Vanessa and leaving important things like finding a Luna for us."

"I wouldn't have you say those disrespectful words about the Alpha, no werewolf wouldn't want a mate and what he does with his concubine isn't our business. Stop saying disrespectful words about him before someone else hears it and tells the Alpha."

'Drake, stop all this, he's not the right man for the throne. How can a mere mistress's son rule over us? His uncle is a better option for the throne."

'I can't believe you are saying this. It seems you don't have anything important to say to me. I'm out."

Opening the door to be met by the Alpha, he started shivering in fear.

'Your Highness, welcome, what brings you to the pack house?" The man who was saying disrespectful words about the Alpha smiled like he had never done anything bad about the Alpha in his entire life.

I stared at him with contempt, the man who defended me was quiet and stared at his feet nervously.

I walked closer to him and he shivered.

'I was checking about the welfare of my pack but what I didn't know was that the pack didn't want me."

"Who dares refuse you?" Drake said, still acting in his drama.

"Young man, what's your name?" I asked the other man, who hadn't said anything since he opened the door.

"Xavier, Your highness," he answered. I nodded, turning my gaze back to Drake.

'I don't know, maybe you," I said, looking at him intently.

'Me?? Never!!"

I was holding my wolf Damien from coming out because he would do something bad.

I slammed my hands into the wall behind him and he whined.

'Don't lie to my face," I warned.

'I'm sorry, your highness, I didn't mean it that way," he pleaded, dropping to his knees.

'Then which way do you mean it?" I asked, smirking.

' I'm sorry Your highness," he apologized.

'Sean, take him to the dungeon, I will decide what to do with him when I get back," Sean nodded and dragged him away.

'I'm sorry Your highness" his voice trailed as he was dragged by Sean.

Xavier looked at me in fear.

'I'm sorry, Your highness," he pleaded.

'Xavier, would you like to work in the palace as a guard?"

He looked up in surprise.

'Your Highness….me??" He looked at me and over to Damian.

" Yes, you start tomorrow,"I said, walking off.

"Thank you Your highness," his voice rang behind me with gratitude.

I went back home vying for Vanessa's touch, I hadn't told anyone that she was my mate.

I need to do something to establish my ground as undisputed Alpha before my uncle tries one of his never-ending schemes.

Walking to my room, I met Allison and I groaned at her sight. I don't have time and strength for her exasperating attitude.

She rushed to me when she saw me, smiling like a sheep. Her smile disgusted me, I can't wait to get rid of her and the other concubines.

'Alpha, I have missed you a lot, you haven't called for me for a long time now," she whined.

"I was busy," I answered simply.

"But you called Vanessa?" Here comes the annoying question of hers.

'Busy for you, not her," I knew that would hurt, but I was too tired to give a damn.

She gasped with tears glimmering in her eyes.

'How could you say something like that to me? I have been giving you my body for years now, and you say something like that to me."

Women really have some guts. If it was a male now, he would be shaking in fear, but she was looking at me angrily. I groaned and began walking away.

'Is it because of Vanessa? Do you have something going on with her," she asked suddenly.

"It's none of your business, Allison, and don't overstep your boundaries if you like to be intact," I warned, and walked into my room, slamming the door in annoyance.
