Vanessa

It was Derek, with a big smile on his face as he sat on the chair like he owned it. I didn't say anything, because I knew he was way stronger and faster than me.

I silently prayed I would come out of this room alive.

'What are you doing here?" I asked him, looking him directly into his eyes.

"Umm, I am here to know my best friend mate, I don't think I did anything wrong, beautiful," he said rather than asking.

'I don't want to see you, and you need to leave," I told him boldly.

"I always have a soft spot for bold women, and you are beautiful, smart and feisty: they are always the right mixture," he sputtered.

I looked at him trying to figure out how to make him leave, from what I have heard about him, he did not come here to sit with me for a chitchat. I stood up from the bed and faced him while he raised his brows.

"You are not trying to run are you? Because that would be funny, sit down, I'm not going to hurt you," he said with a serious look on his face.

I looked at him like he was mad. Did he think I'm a five-year old child who trusts someone so gullibly.

'You need to leave, because Axel would be very furious if he sees you here, so please leave."

'Vanessa, whatever Axel said about me is true, I told him I would kill his mate the moment I set my eyes on her, but I don't know why. I don't want to kill you, so sit down."

I looked at him and sat on the farthest chair away from him, looking at him with all my senses alert. His head was bent low, I knew he was remembering his mate and I felt bad for him.

'I'm so sorry, Derek, but I think you should know this, Axel didn't kill your mate." I said confidently.

'Vanessa…. don't say what you do not have any idea of." He growled and I flinched, he looked at me and stopped muttering.

"It's fine, but did you ever try listening to him? He was your best friend and you should know he would never do something that would hurt you intentionally."

'Yes, you were angry, and sad at the loss of your mate. We all understand, but I can't understand how you hated him immediately, and ignored the fact that you both knew he was your best friend and you never gave him a chance to explain."

'What type of best friend are you when you never gave him a chance?" I said with my chest heaving and I was surprised to find myself standing. I was happy I finally gave him a piece of mind. Axel was hurt at the loss of their friendship. I could still remember the sad smile when he explained everything to me.

He was looking away avoiding my glares, I was scared thinking he would hit me.

'I was hurt then," he said finally. I felt bad for him and I walked closer to him, holding him as his head was on my stomach. He sobbed!!!

'I'm sorry about her, but you need to understand some things about her, and I believe you won't feel like this anymore."

'I couldn't bring myself to understand why he would kill her." I patted his back and he sobered up. Moving from him, I looked at his face and he was smiling, is he bipolar?

'No, I'm not bipolar Vanessa, and no, I can't read your thoughts, but I can read your facial expressions I'm actually smiling because I'm happy for Axel, he got himself a very wonderful woman as a mate," he said and I smiled.

"Now, will you…." I got interrupted by the door opening..

'What's happening here?" Axel asked closing the door behind.

"Derek came in here, and I was explaining to him what happened…"

"I know you wouldn't do anything stupid, but I don't trust him, he might do something to you." I smiled and came to his side.

"He didn't, and don't say that to your best friend, actually I think you both should talk to each other. I would leave you both," I said turning to leave.

"No Vanessa stay. You were the one who started this peacemaking, and you need to be here."

Derek said looking at me avoiding Axel's gaze. I looked at Axel if he wanted me to stay.

'Yes please, stay pumpkin," Axel said smiling at me. I nodded and led him to a chair.

'Derek, do you promise you wouldn't say a word until he's done talking?" I asked and he nodded.

'Good, now Axel, explain what happened to Isabella, he has finally realized that he should have given you a listening ear."

"What's the point of explaining to him when you and I know he wouldn't believe."

"Axel, just explain," I said and he nodded.

'Well, I never had the thought of killing Isabella and I didn't kill her. You see, the thing was I overheard a man in a hooded black cape telling her that he wanted her to poison my father. I barged into the room they were, the man escaped through the window and Isabella started fighting trying to kill me, I avoided all her efforts, even when she slashed a little pen knife on my back. When she wanted to stab me with the silver dagger she was holding I dodged the blow and she went head straight and the dagger stabbed her, and that was when you came in. I tried explaining, but you were so furious that you almost killed me." Axel stopped, breathing deeply.

Derek stared at him with shock.

"But a man in cloak came to me and said he saw you forcing yourself on Isabella, and you stabbed her when she refused," Derek said, as tears streamed down his cheeks.

I looked at Axel in permission to hold him, and he nodded. I walked to him and he hugged me immediately. Axel growled.

'I'm not taking her away Axel, keep your growls in check," he laughed, I joined and Axel looked away.
