VANESSA P.O.V

I just finished showering and I was brushing my hair in my room when Hilda knocked on my door. I stood and opened the door, she was looking anxious.


'What happened Hilda?" I asked, looking down the hallway.

"Axel's men are looking for you downstairs and Mr Adam is around. I tried persuading them to leave but they refused claiming they can't leave without you."

'Oh no," I muttered, running down to the entrance. Adam wouldn't hesitate to do something stupid and I know Axel's men were better fighters than him and they kill in seconds, but I was scared of what Adam would do to me, he could even kill me.


I got to the front door and was surprised to see Damian and Derek. I frowned immediately.

'Vanessa…" Derek started, I looked at him smiling tightly. I wish I had some type of magic, I would have made them go away. I couldn't help but feel something bad is going to happen.


"My name is Rhea not Vanessa," I corrected, emphasizing on the name.

They looked at me shocked and exchanged glances. Well, they didn't see that coming.

'Fine, Rhea. Please we need to talk," Derek said. Damian was just looking at me like he wanted to read my mind.

'I'm sorry but we can't. And please you need to leave because if he comes down, things might get bad for me."

'Don't worry, Damian and I can handle whoever you are talking about, but please we need to talk. Axel is already going crazy without you, and he regrets his actions," Derek said, and Damian nodded in agreement.

'Whatever. I can't go back even if I want to, and I don't want to. He should have thought about that before driving me away like I was an animal. He should be fine, he's the almighty Alpha," I said, with a hateful expression on my face but my heart was far from hating, I was crying deep down in my heart.

I wish I could just let everything go, but Adam would never let that happen and I was terrified of Adam that I wouldn't be able to rebel against him.

I remembered the first day we met, he saved me from an auction and when we got to his house he told me I was his new maid. I didn't argue because it was far better than being sold as a property to filthy hags. While washing his cups, I broke one mistakenly and he gave me the beating of my life tying me, and leaving me dangling upside down for more than five hours. I would never forget the pain I went through then. All these contributed to my fear for him, and he told me he feeds on my fear.

'Vanessa…sorry Rhea. That wasn't one of his finest moments but he is sorry and he will be a better man," Damian said, bringing me back to the present. This is his first statement since I saw him.

'Well, if he is sorry, then he should be the one apologizing here and not you both. Maybe you both are just making this up." I couldn't believe the same man that drove me away few months ago was already going crazy at my absence. They were surely up to something fishy.

'He wanted to come here but we refused because he has a meeting in two days and he need to get himself together or else he would embarrass himself there," Derek explained.

'Who's there?" Adam said behind me and I froze with fear.

'Please leave before he comes, because if he comes here and meet you both things would get really bad for me," I begged them, but they stood their ground. Axel really has some stubborn men around him.

'Rhea, we can protect you from that man because I can tell you are utterly scared of him. Was he the one that kidnapped you the day you left the place when you were with me?" Derek asked, looking over my shoulder.

Damian had already pulled his gun out of his holster. Adam came to the door and he gasped when he saw them, suddenly he started laughing before holding my neck with a gun placed at my forehead. It happened before I could even strut and I shrieked in fear, while Derek sneered at him angrily.


'Let her go," Derek said, gritting his teeth as he came closer.

'If you move an inch more, then I wouldn't hesitate to blow her skull off, after all you will lose, not me. So move back before I do something you will regret," Adam said evily. I wished Racheal was around, I would have had hopes that I won't be hurt by Adam and all these wouldn't have have happened though.

Derek went back slowly and Damian began moving to another direction to attack him from behind, but Adam noticed him before he got the chance to make any move.

Saying I was scared is an understatement but I was utterly terrified, I thought my end is here.

'I am not joking, if you move again, I will shoot her, I promise you," Adam threatened.


"Please go back, I don't want to die," I managed to say, they looked at me with pity and concern in their eyes. Tears were flooding down my eyes.

"You heard the girl, she doesn't want to die, she won't die except you want her dead then you can move another inch. Now turn and leave."


"This is purely just cowardly. Let her go and pick one of us to see if we can take her or not with a duel like a man," Damian said, furious as he began coming closer again.

'I would do that if I were you, I call the shots here and for saying that I will show you I'm dead serious," he said, and he stabbed a syringe into my lap, injecting a substance that was very hot and I felt like my skin was burning.
