RHEA'S P.O.V

Adam knocked and came into my room and sat down on the sofa facing me and I closed my eyes pretending I was asleep so he wouldn't hit me again.


'I know you are not sleeping, Rhea so stop pretending. And I came to say I shouldn't have done that to you, but I didn't have any option because you were being very stubborn and annoying. But I won't do it next time," he said. Why can't he say sorry and stop blaming me. I kept quiet.


'I just apologized to you Rhea so you need to say you are not angry anymore so that I can leave and attend to important issues. So are you still angry with me?" He asked arrogantly.


' No," I lied, so he would just go away.

'Good for you. Now take this medicine, it's the antidote to the injection I injected into you that day. Make sure you sleep after taking it," he said, throwing a tiny bottle on the bed beside me and he left the room. I took the bottle and emptied the contents down my throat and it tasted very bitter and sour. I scrunch my face in disgust.


I laid down immediately to sleep as instructed by Adam and soon I fell into a deep sleep.

I woke up looking out of the window to see that outside was already enveloped with thick darkness. My stomach growled and I rose from my bed stretching myself before switching on my room light. I arranged my bed and went out.

Going down to the kitchen, I stood in the middle of the kitchen wondering what I would prepare. I decided to make a burger since I didn't have the strength to prepare anything serious. I set to my task, after preparing one I took it to my room and left it there in case Racheal comes out. I went back to the kitchen and began the second one then Racheal tiptoed in looking over my shoulder and I got startled.

' Racheal you scared me," I said, and she rolled her eyes.

"What are you doing?" She asked, keeping her eyes on me as I hid the burger behind my back. "Nothing," I replied.

She turned and started leaving and suddenly turned and snatched the burger out of my grip.

"What are you doing Racheal?"

"The doctor asked you to eat healthy and you want to eat an unhealthy meal. Rhea, if you are not concerned about your life at least be careful with it because I'm concerned." I looked at her surprisingly. Why was she behaving like a woman on her menstrual cycle?

'I' am sorry, but I was craving for the burger that's why. Fine, prepare anything you want, I will eat it." I said soothingly.

"Since it's already late, you will have to do with some whole grain biscuits and milk, but since you did argue with me, I will let the milk be cold instead. I nodded and she dropped biscuits and a glass of milk on the table. I started munching while she sat eating hers as she was staring at me intently.


'I won't hide it, besides it's kind of tasty." I defended myself against her accusing eyes.

'You see, healthy foods are delicious too." I finished eating and I stood up and excused myself.


'Rhea, did Adam apologize to you properly?" I Knew she added properly because she suspected he wouldn't.

'Yes. That's if threatening me counts as one. I can't wait for me to finish this mission and leave ten million kilometers away from him. But don't feel bad, it's not your fault that he is an arrogant man," I said, and I went out to my room. I was about to enter my room when I saw Hilda sneaking into the servants headquarters.

I got excited and curious, so I grabbed my burger and followed her. She went into James' room and I went closer to the door and placed my ear on the door so I could eavesdrop.

'Why are you sneaking? We aren't doing anything bad, and they all know and support us," James said, indeed Hilda shut the door.

"I'm sorry." Hilda said.

'No, don't apologize, I just don't want my mate to be sneaking around like a thief. Come to our secret place, I want to show you something." I got more curious.

The room's door started turning and I quickly hid behind a column. They went out and James stopped sniffing the air.

'I don't know but I can smell an Alpha's claimed mate around," he said and I held my breath. I know he wouldn't say anything to me but I didn't want them to know I was eavesdropping on their conversation. It would be so embarrassing.

'It's Rhea and she's in her room. She was shot by Adam." I was shocked she was calling him disrespectfully. Seems a lot is going on than I know about.

'I wished she would just stop this mission and go back to him," he added. I rolled my eyes.

'It's not that easy like you think it is. She's going for a revenge for her parents and anyone would do that. I don't blame her and all I wish is for her to be safe and happy. She have really gone through a lot in life." Hearing someone else repeating my tragic life made me weak and I held my tears because it's not worth it.

'Fine. I agree now let's go before it gets too late," he said, and they walked down the hall and I followed them hiding in the shadows.

James pushed a wall and it opened showing a road and they went in. I waited for some minutes before going there. I raised my hand to push the wall when it was held by someone or should I say Kael. I turned looking at him annoyed.

'Why are you stopping me? I was about going in."

'I know and that's why I stopped you now. You should really stop being a curious cat all the time. You might get hurt. Some things are better left unknown," he said, sounding like a professor that I couldn't help but laughed.

"What's funny?" He asked, raising his brows as he looked at me.

'Nothing," I said as I ran to my room knowing he would come after me.
