He looked at me straight in the eye and I love his guts already. Something about him gave off a fearless aura.


'Good evening Alpha," he greeted, bowing his head down. I nodded

'Please, I came for the post of a palace guard, since we lost one.

'Your name?" I asked with my hands on my chin.


"Gabriel Brown," he answered facing the floor.

'I would really be happy if I am accepted." He sounded so immature but I love his aura so I'm going to give him the job.


'Age?"

'28."

'Have you found your mate?" I couldn't help but ask and his head snapped up immediately. His eyes were sad.

'Yes. But she rejected me, and got married to her long-time boyfriend," he said, shaking his head.

"Sorry about that." I didn't know what else to say.

'Thank you, your highness. You are not wicked as they said you are," he said honestly. He was used to saying what is in his mind, yet in a polite manner and I looked away.


"And what will I gain if I give you the job? Because I have to get something in return?" He fidgeted with his hands.

'I can be your personal bodyguard. And I promise to protect you with my life." He said boldly.

' Language you have mastered?"

'None."

'And what if I want to tell you something in Spanish. How would we go about it?"

'I will learn as many languages as you want. I need this job to help my sick mother. I can't afford to lose her." I felt pity for him.

"Resume in two days. But before you do, send all your documents to the Gamma," I said, standing up to leave.

'Thank you so much. I really appreciate," he said, kneeling down.

I met his gazing eyes filled with admiration. I walked away wondering at his strange stare.

I met Damian standing outside the throne room waiting for me. I know I was the Alpha but I felt bad for leaving him after asking him to be on time.

But then I didn't delay myself and I'm the Alpha . I owe no one an explanation so I held my head up and entered my ride. Looking away in deep thoughts.

'Your highness. Are you alright?" Damian asked and I scoffed still looking away from the window ignoring his question.

The ride got more silent, the only sound that could be heard was that of the car tyres on the floor. Damian kept sending glares down my way.

'Damian, fine, say whatever you have been bottling up In your head." I asked, looking at him and he bowed his head in respect.

'Well, you are looking strange. So I wanted to know if all is fine but it seems not though."

'I'm fine, and I will get better if I find my mate, I can't wait to hold her."

The car stopped in the middle of the way all of a sudden, and I cursed.

'What happened?" I asked Fred and the second bodyguard who were trying to start the car.

'I don't know but something hit the car, and we can't find any trace of an object.

'I knew something was wrong and someone was behind it. I quickly got down from the car with Damian following me immediately.

"What do you think is wrong?" He asked looking over his shoulder as I shifted.

"I don't know yet, but I can feel a sudden shift in the atmosphere. I think we are not the only beings here and it's not something good. That's for sure," I said, crouching on the floor. He followed my moves and we lay on the abre forest floor looking at my car with the two bodyguards acting like they were alone.

Suddenly a gush of wind swept pass them and they fell to the floor groaning. I raised my brows, Damian wanted to go to them but I stopped him.


"We need to let the being show itself so we can know what we are facing and how to face it," I cautioned.

The wind blew past again and Fred coughed out blood. The wind stood still and materialized in a body. It was Memphis a demon that feeds on souls that travelled, and I groaned. I should have known he was the one. I rose and walked down to him in my full wolf form. He gasped when he saw me.

'Alpha Axel. You are the one. I didn't know else, I wouldn't have stopped you. I'm sorry for the mishap I caused," he said, bowing and flickering his hands and the guards got better with the blood disappearing from their lips.

'Next time, be more careful because I won't be lenient," I said, as I shifted. Being an Alpha helps me to shift without my clothes leaving my body or getting runied. Damian came out and we entered our journey to the Scarlet pack.

"That little devil won't stop being very mischievous." Damian sneered.

'Leave him to enjoy his youth, as long as he doesn't touch my pack members, I don't care what he does with his time or mouth."

We got to the border of Scarlet pack and the men came closer and Fred took my glasses down and they bowed and the gates got open. We drove in and their Alpha came to welcome us.

'Fearless Axel, I was waiting for your arrival specially. As a good friend of mine, you will get a special welcome treat to soothe you from the perilous journey. I'm sure you are worn out," Sean said, and we shook hands. I was genuinely happy to see him after years of not seeing each other.

"You have grown into a man. Sean of yesterday is now a man. Where's you mate? I want to see her and thank her for taking very good care of you, because you look well-fed and taken care of," I said, and he laughed out loudly. Sean's laughter was one thing very hilarious about him, very loud and childlike.

"She's preparing the table for you. I told her about you and she's more eager to meet you than I am. I laughed and we walked in.
