Chapter 64 He is sulky.
In the morning, they were sitting in the car and Noah was suddenly reminded of something important. He glanced at her and informed, "Tomorrow is the anniversary of my parents. We have to go to a party".
"Okay". She replied plainly without thinking much of it but as a realization hit her a horrible thought flashed her mind, "Anniversary of whom?" She was shocked beyond anything else.
"My parents. Your in laws". That was enough for her to know about whom he is talking about. This time he replied without giving her much attention and looked outside the window.
Carissa became worried, "Oh God. You should have told me sooner. I did not even prepare anything for them".
"It is enough for you to show your face to them. They don't need anything else".
"But Noah…." She hesitated.
He turned and saw her concerned face, "What?" Why is she always making a big deal out of every single thing?
"No one knows about our marriage. I cannot go there as your wife". She was not concerned about the gift but something more.....
His face changed. In fact he has already thought about this matter. There was a hope in his heart, maybe this time she would want to reveal it and with that 1% probability he asked her to go. Now, when she said that she cannot go there as his wife, even though he expected, it is quite hurtful.
Carissa also noticed the changes on his face. The darkness- she could not look at anymore and lowered her head as she did not have courage.
He clenched his teeth tightly and a muscle on his face twitched, "You can come later. I will talk to my parents. They will not say anything about this matter.
She looked grateful and guilty at the same time. "I am sorry…."
"Don't be. Continue to do what you are doing". He was being sarcastic and this small piece of apology is not enough.
He is the one who is suffering in her revenge. He is the one who is having the hardest time. He cannot call his own wife as wife in front of others. He promised to support her and his hands are tied right now so he swallows this bitter gulp.
"Your office…." He pointed outside the window and more of that, he wanted to end this conversation.
She glanced at him from the corner of her eye but he was still looking outside, completely ignoring her. She quietly grabbed her bag and got out of the car.
"Drive". He commanded the driver.
The driver drove away leaving her behind speechless. She melts at his coldness.
Carissa remained down for the whole day. He did not even call her today. Otherwise he always calls her at lunch hours and asks whether she has eaten or not. If Carissa does not attend his call he would call her until she gives in and receives it. Her mood got spoiled more the more she thought about it.
Meanwhile, he was working without any break and of course it was a hard day for Aaron. Now, through his mood swings he can tell if he had a wonderful night or whether they had a fight.
He sent a driver to pick her up and get ready to go home. Noah locked himself in the study and worked the whole night.
Carissa was speechless. Why is he showing so much attitude when they agreed on this matter? What is the use of dragging it now?
She hated everything and spent a sleepless night. In the morning, finally he entered the room to take a shower.
Noah went quietly to take a bath and dressed up in a suit. Carissa was looking at all of his movements. When he was done, without saying anything he was going to leave the room but her voice made him stop.
"Noah.." her voice was tired and low.
He turned to face her, coldness was all over his face. His aura was not gentle at all.
"Why…."
He knew what she was going to ask, his head was hurting badly, and in the early morning he was in no mood to argue with her. He glanced at his wrist watch showing her that he is getting late.
"Later.. Carissa later. I am getting late. You can go to the office with driver". Once again, he ignored her and left her.
Her grey eyes were getting teary and a drop of salty water fell from her eye. It was hurting her… to be treated like an invisible person. They decided to sort everything by talking if something would happen between them, but what the hell is he doing now?
She stayed in bed for a long time. The maid came to check up on her as she was getting late from the office.
But when she saw her swollen and red eyes she was stunned. The dark circles were covering her eyes. She was looking haggard in a single night.
The maid became worried. If something would happen to her Noah would not let them off, "Are you okay, young madam?" She asked with a concerned look.
Carissa nodded, "I am fine. I am not going to the office today".
"Okay. But you should have breakfast. The young master gave an order to make you eat".
'He did not even talk to me… now why are you so concerned about me, Mr. Noah Whites?' Carissa thought and she was more hurt.
"I will eat later". Carissa laid down covering her face with a quilt.
The maid closed the door, as she did not want to disturb her rest.
It was almost afternoon when she received a call from Celeste. "Where are you?" Celeste asked.
"Home". She replied.
"Home? Are you feeling okay? I thought you were coming late". She interrogated.
"It a little headache. If there is something important, call me". Carissa wanted to be alone.
"There is nothing urgent. Have a good rest". Celeste too decided to let her have some rest.
Carissa suddenly remembered the evening's appointment.
"Celeste, are you free after work?"
"Yes."
"Can you come to a party with me?"
"Whose party?"
"My in laws…" Carissa spilled the beans.
Celeste choked on her saliva. She was unaware of her marriage too.
Carissa knew what she was going to ask next. "I will explain later. Be ready at 6PM. I will come to pick you up".
Carissa simply shut her up before Celeste could say anything. "Okay." She was helpless.
