Carissa rolled her eyes at her husband, "Why do it have to be your always darn friend?"

Noah laughed at the choice of her words, "I was like him in the past too."


Carissa could not believe his words. He was like her what a….playboy.

He chuckled once again at her shocked face, "Don't worry except….." he paused and avoided eye contact with her, "Mia, I never dated anyone."

Carissa was curious to know the story between Noah and Mia. She was looking at him with puppy eyes but did not ask him anything. Whom she is trying to fool? He knows what is going through her mind.


"You can ask me what you want to know. I will tell you the truth".

She was touched by his words. Who doesn't have a past. Mia was her past and it doesn't matter. She wanted to know at first but not anymore. She is always his first priority. He ignored her past, and in his case it was just dating.


She was quiet so he started speaking, it was a better choice to clear her curiosity now, "We met in school, she would always approach me first without my knowledge I started to become used to her presence. But what I feel for you and what I felt her is completely different. I am sure now it wasn't love. I was an immature teenager, it was purely an attraction. We would hang out, go shopping, go for a movie and that's it." He smiled faintly, "In the end I was just a money making machine for her. Even after 10 years I sill cannot solve this puzzle…..how she knew me identity at that time".

Carissa was surprised, where this conversation was leading to, "What identity?"

"I begged my father to get me an admission to a small and ordinary school. I never wore branded clothes there, I never used a luxury car. Even when I used to go on dates with Mia, I would take her to the most simpler restaurant. Then how did she know I am the heir of White's empire? Why she always approached me first, that clears everything, because she knew who I am. She threatened my mother and took millions of dollars from my mother to leave me."

Carissa was quite puzzled with this whole situation, "How can mom just give her money? There must be something that must make her do that".

"I asked Mom several times but she always avoids this topic. Mia must have blackmailed her."

"You never investigated her?" with his skills he found the evidence from the 22 years old case. This was a piece of cake.

"This is what I find most suspicious. There are no records of her. What is her family background, there is nothing."

"Oh my God. She is really scary. How did she clear her records and efficiently?"

"I am keeping an eye on every single movement of her. Don't worry, soon I will find something".

"But be careful."

He patted her head, "I will."

This Mia was really strange, what is her identity….even Noah is unable to figure out. What she is up to no one knows. Now even a little thing has started to worry her. She was scared….scared of losing him. If this was in the past she would have ignored it. Love really makes you weak. He is her strength and weakness at the same time. A weakness which wants to hide from the whole world. Like a jugular vein, a weak point which she does not want to show to anyone.

He was worried about only two things, her safety and her happiness. For these two things he can even burn the world. Now, he could understand his brother, why he looked so vulnerable to see her wife being injured. At that moment he wanted to laugh at him, for being such a cry baby, but time as really taught him, what is it like to walk on the shattered glass, on a burning coal he can explain.

She was deep in thought and he knew what she was thinking at the moment so he asked something to divert her mind. "And why are you always so protective towards Celeste? and as far as I remember you told me she is your savior".

Carissa was flustered at his question, she knew he would be aggressive at the end. Her mind was working at the full speed to find an answer to cajole her.

About 4 years ago I attempted… suicide and Celeste saved me". Her voice was low.

"YOU DID WHAT?" he shouted at her. How can she think of her life so lowly?

"I am sorry. I was so depressed, I went hiking, and there was a lake there, I don't know what I thought at that moment and jumped. Celeste saved me. She is the one who completely changed my life. She turned a weakling like me to a strong woman. Now I am more thankful to her. Because I got to know you and married you. I feel like a luckiest person".

He sighed at her dares. "Don't you ever dare to do anything that can harm you. I will be the one to punish you".

"Sorry". She hugged his arm and made a pitiful face. "I promise this will not happen again".

"It better not". His face was stern.

"Okay tell me what do you want to eat? I will make it for you."

"I am not hungry". He was stubborn, she gritted her teeth, the only way was to use another method to satisfy him. Carissa leaned forward and kissed his cheek.

Finally his mood changed.
