Chapter 89 You are looking beautiful.
It was a weekend, Celeste decided to meet Edwin's father. Edwin was waiting outside of her house. She wore a floral print knee length dress, that was perfectly showing her curves, and applied a little make up. Her fair skin was looking fairer due to floral print and she was looking no less than a flower herself. She nervously went down and saw him standing casually in a Jeans and a t-shirt, with hands in pockets. The weather was changing, due to the spring the scent of flowers was mixed with the breeze. He saw her coming down, his lips twitched. She was looking pure and innocent like an angel. Sometimes, this thought always strikes his mind, she is such a pure girl and he does not deserve her. Like, it is an unfair deal for her but at the same moment he does not want to let her go.
Edwin was wearing sunglasses, she could not comprehend what he was thinking. Celeste stopped near him, it was awkward and very awkward to initiate any conversation with him at this moment.
"You are looking good". He spoke before she asked him anything.
"Do I look okay? I don't really know how to dress up….." She looked at her own self and told him about the insecurity.
"You are fine". He did not praise her much, just simple words of appreciation. But she was satisfied with them too. Edwin opened the door for her. Celeste settled on the passenger seat. He also sat on the driving seat and glanced at the mini bag she was holding, "What is it?" he pointed at the bag.
"Ohh… I forgot to tell you. I bought a gift for your father".
He started the engine, "You don't have to buy anything for him".
"Still… I am meeting him for the first time. It will be a ride to go empty handed."
He did say something more and quietly drove towards the destination. The rest of the drive was covered in silence. After some time he stopped the car in front of the luxurious mansion. It was bigger and wider than her imagination. An out of the world place. She felt more nervous looking at the place. Even in her dreams there was no such thing. Her head hung low, as she felt disappointed. Edwin passed the keys towards a man, and quietly held her hand. He felt it smaller in his big palm, she still did not know that he was holding her hand. Her hands were a little sweaty.
He did not say words of comfort, just drag her inside with him. "HEY". She shouted in a whisper.
They were already inside the palace like a mansion, till then. Celeste straightened up her back, as he took her to the living room. An old man was sitting there watching a television. Edwin did not call his father, he cleared his throat to grab his attention. The man turned to look at them. When he saw a beautiful girl beside his son, his tired eyes suddenly glistened.
"You are here". He spoke as the corner of his lips curled upward.
Edwin released her hand from his grip. Celeste felt a sudden familiarity with him. Her nervousness instantly vanished as she went near him.
"Hi. I am Celeste". She introduced herself and extended her hand towards him.
His father shook her hand, "Celeste… you have a pretty name".
Celeste felt shy with this sudden praise.
"Sit here." His father patted the space beside him. Celeste sat with him but Edwin was still standing at the door. She glanced at him from the corner of her eye, it was more likely he is the one who came to her home.
His father observed the glances she was giving him, he spoke without looking at his son, "You can come too".
Celeste found this father and son pair very odd. There was no sense of closeness between them, which she found weird.
"Tell me about your family". He wanted to know what kind of girl Edwin had chosen. He even agreed to let them meet which means he really wants to continue this relationship.
"I have a younger brother. He is currently studying in Australia. I am living alone". There was a hint of sadness in her voice.
"Then, come often here. I am alone all the time too."
Celeste smiled. "Thank you".
Edwin's phone rang and he went outside to attend the call. When he left his father started telling her about their family.
"You can see we don't have a good relationship. I feel bad for giving him a bad family. You are a good girl, I hope you will make him happy in the future. He needs time to adjust, if he does something bad I hope you will forgive him".
Celeste just nodded. She could not ask what really happened on their first meeting.
The mood was suddenly down, she forgot to give him a gift, "I bought a gift for you".
"Gift?"
"It is not much. I did not know what you like".
Celeste gave him a small box. He opened it, there was a tie clip inside. It was simple yet sophisticated, a perfect design for him. She nervously looked at him, "Do you like it?"
"I love it. It's been such a long time since I got a gift. I will use it well. Thank you".
Edwin was back, he enviously looked at his smiling father. She never gave him anything except for beating him up.
Celeste got closer to his father in a short time. They ate lunch together, it was already evening. "I will get going then".
His father sighed, "Come again."
"Of course. I will." She smiled.
In the car, she narrowed her eyes at Edwin.
"What?"
The whole day, she didn't see him speaking with his father. He was trying to initiate a conversation with Edwin, but he would always ignore it.
"You are an unfilial son. An awful one."
"I am." He did not deny the fact.
There was no need to continue the conversation. He quietly dropped her at her apartment. "I hope you will resolve the matter". Celeste said before getting out of the car.
