Chapter 114 Sorry for being late.
Celeste looked at the baby girl and all the tiredness, pain and longing came to an end. She was a reward for her. A lifetime reward which is precious to her.
She can feel him inside this little body. She can smell his scent. When the baby held her finger she felt like it had been done by him.
Unconsciously, Celeste kept on looking at her white and pure face and ran her finger on her soft cheeks.
"I love you". Celeste told the daughter.
The love needs to be confessed. She loved her before her birth but now she wanted the little angle to know the feelings of the Mom.
She kissed the forehead of the little angel, the tears uncontrollably gushed out of her eyes and fell on the baby too. She hugged her tightly. The memories of him were haunting her now. She thought after the birth of the baby, her attention will be diverted and she won't miss him much.
But what's this?
Why the hell is she yearning for him more?
Why does she want to share this happiness only with him?
A lot of whys and ifs were running in her mind.
She broke the hug with the baby and looked at her and said in a low and tired voice. "You are a father now. Are you happy? See, she looks like you." At the moment, the baby put an effort to open her eyes and revealed those pupils hiding underneath the eyelids.
Damn it!!!
They were exactly like his. She made eye contact with her honey coloured ones.
And they were like he was looking at her. She could not look at them for longer than a few seconds. From now onwards, Celeste was really going to find him in her.
"I miss you." The words came out unconsciously from her lips and she spoke like he was standing beside her, smiling at the baby girl.
Carissa was worried about her. So, Noah made some people keep an eye on her. He was having a real hard time in coping up with these two stubborn ladies and his friend. So, he immediately got a tip regarding her situation.
Carissa has been a lazy head due to her pregnancy.
He looked at her and contemplated on what to do.
"Carissa.... baby". He whispered.
But unlikely to his expectations, she immediately shot up as she was getting sensitive too. "Why.... what happened? Is everything fine". She asked questions like rapping.
"Yes, yes. Everything's fine." Noah adjusted her hair. "But we need to go to the hospital. I made some people look after Celeste but it will be better for her to have you by side". He explained.
Carissa immediately understood and went to change. He was wearing a trouser and t-shirt so decided to just leave.
Within 5 minutes they were sitting in the car and Noah was driving towards the hospital. Meanwhile, Carissa was continuously making calls. "She is not receiving my call". Carissa told him anxiously.
"Don't panic". I will call my men.
"Yes. Do that. Hurry up Noah". She urged him.
Noah ran his fingers on the screen while keeping eyes on the road. When the call connected, the man instantly started to report. "Mr. President, the lady is fine. She just gave birth to a girl". He said and Carissa let out a sigh of massive relief.
"Okay, got it." Noah said and hung up. "Now relax". He told her.
"I am happy for Celeste". She smiled sincerely. "What about Edwin? Shall we inform him?"
"Let's wait for now. You should ask Celeste". Noah suggested.
"Okay".
Maybe, Celeste wants to deliver this news to him on her own.
When they reached the hospital, Celeste was already shifted to the private ward. Noah had already made arrangements for her. So, she had a safe and sound delivery.
Carissa opened the door, but instead of the tired girl she saw a radiating and happy figure. Like, she has a world under her feet or who is happy in her small world.
This is how it feels like to be a mother. Carissa thought. Before she could speak, Celeste already saw her standing on the door. "Carissa? What are you doing? How did you know?" She was surprised.
Carissa smiled and closed the door behind. "You are such a traitor. You did not even inform me and came alone. Do you even have an idea how risky it is?" She started to nag and looked at the baby sleeping beside soundly.
"Ohhh my God. She is so cute". Carissa bent down and looked at her. "She is so pretty. Prettier than you". Carissa was not over her yet so taunted a little at which Celeste let out a chuckle which Carissa heard for the first time in 8 months.
"Yes. She is the prettiest." In that aspect, she agrees too.
The girls chatted for a while but Carissa wanted to know something else too. "Celeste, Noah and I decided to leave this news on you. It will be good if you will inform Edwin". She said with a little hesitation.
Celeste never asks about him. Even if Carissa or Noah say something regarding him she gets angry or makes them shut. But today was something else, "How is he?" She asked for the first time stunning Carissa.
"He is doing a lot better now. We talked in the morning and he was very worried about you." She explained.
"Okay. I will tell him". Celeste said.
"That's like my girl". Carissa was genuinely happy for them.
She let her rest and decided to stay at night with Celeste. Noah also did not stop them.
In the morning, with trembling fingers, Celeste started to type. "Congratulations on becoming a Dad. Carissa wanted me to inform you on my own that's why I am writing this to you. I am sure you want to see the baby. I am attaching a video of her.
And yeah.... I named her Erin.
I hope you are doing fine too".
She had no intentions on writing the last lines but she did against the will following her heart.
Meanwhile, it was the middle of night for Edwin. He was already very restless and the ding of mobile made him more sleepless.
He immediately looked at the message and his lips curled up into a smile.
After 5 months.....
Celeste ran with a baby formula in her hand, towards her crying daughter. She is a calm baby, but a little impatient. "I am sorry. Here's your meal." Celeste said cutely in a nasally voice while embracing her and giving her feeder.
When she calmed down and slept peacefully like a cute fluffy kitten, Celeste took a sigh of relief. It is hard to raise a child but harder when you are alone and have to manage everything on her own. When Erin was deep in a sleep she made her lay in the bed and finished the rest of the chores. It was summer and there was no air conditioning at her small apartment, she plopped up on the couch while the sweat was soaking her body. It had been just a minute since she sat down, and at the moment she saw her daughter stretching her tiny hands and legs, indicating that she had a good sleep. Celeste stood up and laid beside her, "You have a good rest but what about me? Let me rest too". She said while pouting and complaining to her daughter that is oblivious to the harshness of the world, instead of getting upset at the scolding of her mother Erin smiled, melting her heart instantly. "You really know my weaknesses". Celeste kissed her chubby cheek. Now, Erin has grown up a little, the more she is growing up the more she looks like him. Her dark brown eyes, high nose bridge were all like Edwin.
Once she went to his house, because his father insisted as he wanted to spend time with his granddaughter. Celeste could not say no to him. He also has every right on Erin. So, at his house, she went to Edwin's room and saw some of his childhood pictures and Erin looked like a carbon copy of him. Her face shape, her lips, her eyes everything is the same.
Due to Erin she does not miss him that day. Now, she does not have time to miss him. But at night, her scars start bleeding again, reminding her about someone, no matter what she does, she always finds him coming near to her. Celeste does not ask Carissa and Noah about nor do they tell her anything. She always wonders if he has seen her daughter, if he misses her. What will be his reaction when he will see her for the first time? She always imagined him coming to them, it's been a year already. It is said that time is a good healer, but for her there is no medicine that can heal her wound except him.
"Baby we have to go shopping today. Let' go on a date, okay?" Celeste said to her daughter who giggled at her words, making Celeste wonder whether she knows what she is talking about. But whatever it is, she can even die for this single innocent smile of her daughter. It is worth it.
Celeste changed her clothes, made her eat, making sure everything was okay, she put Erin in the pram and went to the nearby shopping mart. It was a walking distance from her place. So, she decided to walk instead of taking a taxi. She roamed in the mall with her daughter in the pram, looking at people with utter curiosity and bought the daily necessities.
