Carissa was so shocked by his behavior. How can he do that? He never did this before. Is he stressed about work? Or has something gone wrong?

She was about to cry. He did not sleep with her last night and left rudely.


"What should I do?" Carissa panicked.

"What happened, young lady?" Mr. Martin asked.

Carissa threw her head in hands as a wave of headache rushed and made her dizzy. "I am fine. I am fine". She repeated unconsciously.


'I need to clear the misunderstanding. I need to know the main cause of why he behaves this way". She made a resolution and ran to the bedroom. Silas was already up and playing with the toys but when he saw his mother he started to cry.

"Wait a minute, baby". She said to him but his cries became louder and louder.


"I told you to stay quiet". She shouted at him and due to the sudden outbreak of the mother, made the few months old baby surprised and he did not dare to utter a word.

Carissa felt bad to scold him. It wasn't his fault. Instead of interrogating Noah she held the baby in her arms. After he calmed down, Carissa dialed the number of Aaron.

It took him some time to attend the call and with each bell her heart was skipping a beat. Something's really off.

Finally, the torturous time passed and he received the call. "Yes Madam, is everything fine?" Aaron was a little surprised to see her calling. It is not common for her as they have a good relationship and Noah informs her things that need to be told beforehand.

"Yes everything's fine. Where is Noah?" She asked carefully.

"Boss..... Boss is in the meeting". He stuttered. "Maybe that's why he didn't receive your call. If there is something urgent you can tell me. I will inform him". He made a judgement of his own.

"I didn't call him. I just wanted to know something and I hope that you will answer me honestly." She gave him a heads up from the start.

"Yes I will". He replied but the nervousness in his voice was clear.

"What's wrong with Noah? Why is he so down these days? Is everything fine at the office?" Carissa asked him many questions in one breath.

Aaron was caught off guard. He did not expect such a question from Carissa.

"Madam.... I really don't know. Maybe he is tired from working all the time. Otherwise there is nothing wrong at the hospital." He tried his best to sound normal but she is Carissa and she is well aware of his nature and attitude. His loyalty is perhaps the best in the world. If Noah will tell him to stay quiet then Aaron will never open his mouth.

"If you are afraid of Noah, then don't worry about him. This will remain a secret among us". Carissa made an effort to gain his trust.

"No Madam. It isn't like this. If Mr. President will want to tell you then he will really do it. It is not my place to report such matters. Secondly, I can tell you that he is perfectly fine. The past few days at the office have been a little hectic. That's why, you sensed something off".

"Still, I have worked there and I am already aware of how the things work. I know there is something else that both of you are hiding. Let me tell you one thing, Noah will tell me on his own in the future but it won't be good for you then." She was mad at Aaron and threatened him openly. Still, it wasn't enough to sway the man of rules.

He just paid his regards to Carissa and cut the call.

These stoned heart men have made her life hell. In frustration, Carissa threw the mobile phone aside and ran her fingers in the hair due to the stress.

The day passed like an eternity and finally Noah was home in the evening after ages.

She dressed up beautifully and it did have an impact on him. When he entered the home and saw her wearing a beautiful black dress on the porcelain skin it made his breathing erratic and heavy. The grey orbs were shining but she had no expressions on the face.

While, Silas was playing in her lap.

Noah took a seat besides her and took the baby from his grip. The mood of the baby lifted up. He jumped happily in the embrace of the father.

"How was your day?" He asked when he saw her all quiet. She did not even welcome him home and that was the death of him.

This time, Carissa really ignored him. She was about to leave when he held her hand. "Carissa.... listen to me". He insisted but she jerked his hand away rudely.

"Don't touch me". She uttered every word while gritting his teeth.

"Hey.... please. Listen". He again gripped it hard and did not allow her to leave the place. She was left with no choice but to look at him. "What's wrong with you? Why are forcing things on me these days? I don't want to talk and that's it". She was really angry and he is aware of it too.

"You are angry at me, right?" He confirmed.

"Why are you asking me? You should be asking yourself. And this....." she pointed at the hand with which he is holding her wrist, "leave it".

"I am sorry, Carissa". He ignored her words and apologized. "I am sorry for making you worried. You can be angry at me but please don't stop talking to me". As soon as he stopped talking, Carissa really became a wild dog as Edwin told him before.

"This........

This is where you are wrong Mr. Noah Whites. You take everything for granted. You think that I will talk to you even when you will be rude to me or don't involve me in your life. That's your ungratefulness. If you don't have time to give me then okay that's fine don't talk to me." She was talking fast, "I have always tried to be understanding towards your work but still.... I don't understand you anymore". This time she was really mad.

"I am sorry. I am apologizing to you and I did not want to make you worry about me. That's why I decided to not tell you." He explained his own concerns but these lame excuses were not enough to calm her down.

"Then let me get lost from your life". In anger she uttered the words which she shouldn't have.

Noah too felt a sudden rush of anger passing through his body. "WHAT!!!" He shouted out of bewilderment. Silas started to cry due to his loud voice. Noah passed him to the maid and made everyone leave except Carissa. They need to talk things out.

"What did you say? I dare you to repeat it". He said with the gritted teeth that even his jaws twitched hard.

"I said exactly what you heard". She retorted back even though she regretted saying those words.

"Carissa, keep one thing in your damn mind. Never.... never ever think of leaving me again." He was helpless and he really neglected her due to the work and Carissa was right he took her for granted.

"And I am sorry". He repeated again.

"I will forgive you on one condition. Tell me what have you been doing during the past days?" She interrogated.

Noah sighed loudly and took a deep breath.

"Someone hacked into my security system. Fortunately, the firewall and strong system resisted the attack but I am facing a lot of data loss. You know, how the competitors are waiting for your downfall. Someone tried to scam me and again we were lucky and found the loophole. Actually, I just think that..... it is my personal opinion that I am not good enough to manage everything. The expedition of business has become out of control and my biggest concern. Millions of employees can become jobless just because of my one wrong decision." He was mad at his own self and in frustration vented it all out on her.

"I am sorry. I didn't know and shouted at you". She said to him and sat beside him on the couch. She held his hand, "Believe yourself and trust me you are doing great. See, your security resisted it and due to your competence you were able to catch the suspect. Don't lose hope. That was just a little trail to make you stronger". For a moment they completely forgot if they had a fight. Right now, she was encouraging him and he was pouring his heart out in front of her.

It really felt good to share it with her. "Thank you". He appreciated her comforting words.

But she again turned to the previous typical wifey mode.

"I haven't forgiven you yet." She scoffed but he giggled and instead of running away from her he put his head on his lap.

She just smiled and ran her fingers in his hair. It felt so satisfying.
