THE UNSETTLING RIDDLE
No! No! No! This can't get to that point!
Damian's fury is palpable; his fists are clenched tight, poised for action. But I can't let this situation escalate any further.
With a sense of urgency, I position myself between Damian and Leo, a barrier between the raging beast and the instigator. My gaze locks on Leo, his presence repulsive as he stands there, oblivious or indifferent to the boundaries he has shamelessly crossed.
It is so infuriating how this moron has no slight respect for boundaries, but I refuse to let him provoke Damian any further. It is clear that neither of them is backing down easily, and it is up to me to diffuse the tension before it erupts into something uncontrollable.
"If you know what decency means, gather your trash and get your disgusting face out of our sights and never show yourself to me or my fiance ever again," I fume, and kick the pizza box to him too. "That too. I don't think it would go past my lips given that it is you, a dirty, disgusting, and stinking moron, who delivered it. That is how much you disgust me!" I proudly mumble.
"Suit yourself. You can starve to death for all I give a fuck about!" He annoyingly grumbles, and I laugh out loud at his oblivion, halting him in his tracks to collect his garbage from the floor.
How pathetic does that sound, huh?
"Take one good look at my fiance." I even cleared the way for his sight as he jerks his flabbergasted face toward Damian. He gives him a good look from head to toe. "Does he look like a pauper or a delivery boy who depends on some coins at the end of the month?" That hurts his ego. He turns cold at once, an inferiority complex gushing over him. "Ooh, what happened, by the way? Karma caught up with you that soon." I can't help but mock. I mean, how on earth did an IT consultant end up being a mere pizza delivery boy? Wonders will surely never end!
Like the egotistical jerk that he is, he grabs his trash from the floor and racks before us, his features radiating loathe and hurt. "You ruin everything you touch, Ellie, fucking Marrie Riccaford! Sooner or later, you will know, and I hope you will still manage this smirk on your face!" My smirk fades in a flicker, Damian's grip on me tightens, and Leo turns his back on us and marches out of our sight.
I ruin everything I touch. What sort of freaking riddle is that? What did I ruin? Whom did I ruin? How? Where? When? I mean, did he just brat that out just to hurt me, or what is he talking about?
Damian turns me around to face him after a while. I know I look pale; that's why he is dusting my face with his palm to restore my usual color. I don't think its magic is working, though. That last part of Leo is getting on my nerves in a way I don't like, but I cannot also shake the echo of his words from my head. I ruin everything I touch. That is heavy.
"Don't let what that jerk said get into you, babe. He is probably blaming you for his predicament." Damian comforts me, cupping my face. "Come on! Don't be like this, hun." He pleads.
I know I shouldn't worry. I should probably listen to Damian and stop worrying about Leo's empty riddles. But I just can't help. Even the way he said it. It is like he is a walking testament to that riddle. "It is worrying, Damian. I feel like his words have a hidden meaning," I mumble.
"What exactly?"
"I have no idea," I retort, running my palms over my face as his hands drop to my shoulders.
'Just forget it. Don't let it get to you. That is probably what the jerk wants—to mess up your peace," he says.
I shake my head slightly. I know that there is a possibility that that is exactly what Leo wants, but still, his words cut deep. So deep. 'I feel this is deep. I feel like he meant something. I just don't... what have I ruined?"
He massages me gently. "You are not capable of ruining anything or anyone, Ellie. You are so, pur. So innocent. Don't give it so much meaning. The jerk seems hurt and is still in denial that you can love someone else. It is probably the jealousy in his dick speaking."
Oh, I hope so! I can't afford another dilemma.
"If that is it, then he can go bang his dick..." I waver, trying to find his words again. 'Where did you say it again? On a rock?" I slightly smirked after recalling his words. I can't envision the sight of someone banging their dick on a rock. Jeez!
"Did I say that?" He queries, raising an eyebrow.
He doesn't remember now? "You did."
He shakes his head with a dark grin. "That jerk just got on my nerves." He turns cold, looking away for a while.
He really hates that, Leo! I hope they don't cross paths again. "Hey!" I drag his gaze to me with my hand. "You are angry at that idiot and not me, right?" I implore.
"Why would I be mad at you, huh?" he asks.
I know he is not mad at me. But the way Leo spoke to me. All that nonsense he spewed. "You are not even scared of his warnings?"
"Not at all. Whatever comes, we will face it head-on. Together. I promised that, didn't I? I am never backing down!" He assures me, and I nod my head and give him a kiss.
"Together," I repeat, and that sounds so sweet. "I know you want to bang your sweet cock in me but I don't have the energy to handle you. I am hungry."
He smirks! "Okay. Let us go downstairs and see what we can find." He says this, pecks my lips and drags me with him to his restaurant downstairs, while along the way, Leo's words keep bagging my head.
‘You ruin everything you touch, Ellie Marrie Riccaford. Sooner or later, you will know... I have never been bothered more than this riddle is bothering me. It is messing up with my peace. If that was what that dog wanted, he fucking succeeded.
What was the meaning of that, if at all it has a meaning, which is a possibility that is dominating my cool?
