LANCE DIDN'T know what to feel the moment he successfully walked down the narrow path bringing him to the foot of the mountain without even a slight crack on the background.
It perturbed him how quiet the surrounding is—and how is that motherfucker not here to surprise him with an attack.
Lance paused in his steps and stood aghast. 'Am I wishing him to? Am I expecting him to smack me right here, right now?'
He laughed, mocking himself and the way he sweated just by thinking about his fated mate. Damn. He didn't know that the pull would be that bad. He couldn't stomach anything and he couldn't stop moving unless he sits down and imagine his face to be peaceful once again.
He's not crazy to do that.
'But where is that asshole?' Lance observed the silent mountain and rolled his eyes. 'Am I the only one that's being affected by this nasty mating pull?'
'God, look at me actually wanting to see his pale face. Aren't I too empathic?'
Lance continued his way with heavy footsteps. 'If that assassin is not here, where could he possibly be? Finding his way inside the mountain? Tough luck.'
That man won't be able to cross even one step without Lance's blue flames chasing his head off.
"WHAT ARE you planning to do now, Samael?" He can just imagine her crossing her arms and ready to strike him with strings of cusses any moment from now. Samael patiently stared at the cellular phone before grumbling, "I'm not coming home for a week. Advise them to scurry and hide. I have business to attend."
"Business to attend?" Nadia gasped. "Samael, I'm your fiancée! And everyone here expects you to show up early in the morning and treat my brother's wounds because that's what you should do now that you hold responsibility of me!"
"Nadia, I can't hear you clearly." Samael was tired hearing her nagging voice. In fact, he heard her crystal clear. It's just that, he had no energy left to disagree with the woman and clear the delusion in her mind that they are going to be mated.
'I would've promised you that before, Nadz.' He put the cell phone back in his pockets and gazed at the quiet entrance of the mountain he has been guarding for three days now. 'I have someone to strangle first.'
Samael didn't expect having a fated mate. No. That's something he should be eternally grateful about. But what irks him the most was the fact that his fated mate is a guy.
A foul-mouthed, strong and graceful shifter with flaming blue hair and a snark that the gods would envy.
'God,' Samael grunted. 'Look at me exaggerating about his looks. He's just normal-looking. An average guy. It's the mating pull that makes him special and not anything else.'
Samael didn't believe in homo-relationships. He regarded them as bullshit. That's why when he first saw that cream skin and blue hair, he wanted to tackle him immediately to scent him. To make sure that he's not wrong.
'He's indeed mine.'
His wolf soul acknowledged the other party. Too bad that the guy has to send him flying thirty yards back along with his fluent curses chasing his pain.
Samael doesn't like him. He won't want to mate with a man. He doesn't like someone who wants to be superior than him in a relationship. There's no way that they could work together.
"What mating pull?" He refused to notice the itch under his skin. The growl and fatigue he felt and the endless hunger that can never be fulfilled. 'I'll break this mating pull in no time. I heard no one has tried doing that before. It's time to change history.'
Samael extended his stay to spy in this mountain. The boss who sent him here was a big fish in the circle of shifter trafficking. They want a certain white bunny with a red mark on its forehead. He had never heard of it before. Seeing the blue haired guy, a shifter species he had never met before, Samael knew there could be a possibility that there indeed a white rabbit inside.
'Only if this deadly barrier will lift and let me inside.'
He tried using all of the tricks he knew to break in but the base of this barrier is more solid than what he had thought. He almost lost a limb while trying to break it. In the end, his efforts all went to waste. The barrier regenerates itself every fifteen minutes. Any hit and dark magic is futile.
He needs a plan to get inside of this. Samael's mind reeled with another fantasy.
'I should force that dummy mate of mine. I should make him submit to me. Promise him empty words and he'd be chasing my boots everywhere I go.'
Samael couldn't stop his grinning face. He felt empowered just by merely thinking about it.
A mate should always be obedient to his partner. That's what Samael was taught since he was a kid. Having that lofty blue haired guy kneeling after him was a good idea. Especially when he almost burned Samael alive the first time they met.
'I should make him kneel. Force him to look and then…' He swallowed. 'And then what?'
He sure wasn't thinking of kissing the guy. That was gross and unappealing. No matter how ethereal he is, he still got the wrong parts.
Samael won't bend the other way just for him. He would rather live alone than be saddled with a guy.
'I'm going to break his heart.' He sighed with relief. 'Yes. I totally got the upper-hand in this. He will cry after me and I'd be there laughing my ass of ordering he should break the mating pull because this need to see him again is illogical and irrelevant. He's male. What's there to see? His balls?'
Samael couldn't help but chuckle.
"What are you grinning about?" A languid voice came above him. The timbre and tone embedded in his mind. "You think I wouldn't be able to find you?"
"Find me for what?" Samael couldn't help but ask. His mind went blank when he saw the man's normal form. He's stunning. 'Wait, what? Stunning?' Goosebumps broke out of his skin. 'What the hell am I thinking?'
The man squinted, as if he didn't know the answer to this question as well.
When Samael thought that this male mate of his can be a civilized person too, he was proven wrong when once again, blue flames knocked him back with great strength.
Just like the first time they met, Samael hugged a tree.
'Oh, shit.'
