"WHO do you want to protect then?" Lance was curious of this kid. He sounds sure and stern. It was like he had a bad experience about it. "You said you have no parents..."

"I want to clear my father's name." Irlan went silent after that which concludes his answer for the rest. 'I don't want to talk about it.'

"Huh..." Lance twisted his back. He sensed another person just now. He flicked spikes to a certain direction but it went contact with nothing. "Whaaat? I'm sure there's someone!"

"Your senses must be dull because of your lack of practice. Keep walking." Irlan huffed before continuing his pace.

Lance's brow narrowed. 'But I can feel it.'

'STUPID ELF.' Horan missed the tiny spikes of ice thrown at him. He gritted his teeth. He should delude this elf first and throw him somewhere. The intruders he felt a while ago is a mage and an elf. He wasn't sure at the party but now that he saw the young man cast a spell, he was delighted.

'A food! I can consume his magic!'

But how to trick the elf away? He was sure that the two of them were about to spy on Beatrix. Horan couldn't care about it.

They can all hear all of her plans. It was nothing special anyway. They can all listen to the alpha's indecent affairs for all night— Horan will just laugh it all off.

Because he can make sure to himself that those two won't live past to tell what they came to hear.

Horan couldn't hear their conversation. The young man casted a spell and he could not penetrate it. All the more reason for him to feel excited to eat this prey. 'He's powerful! Great!'

Although his blood will taste bitter, the magic will compensate his throat. He will advance a few level higher because of this.

Horan inched closer to them. The two didn't notice him anymore.

'How did they get inside the pack?' And here Horan thought that the pack security was no joke. It was a sham after all.

The young mage leaped gracefully to the next house. Horan watched as his legs stretched and landed without a ripple. He raised a questioning brow. 'Why is his legs so thin?'

Flicking his hand to the right, the distance between the two houses became a lot wider— all because of his illusion. The elf halted all of his actions and spoke about something. The young mage only widened his mouth to a tight-lipped smile before urging him to jump.

'That's right, jump.' Horan watched as the foolish elf tossed himself down. He fell to the ground.

Horan almost cackled in delight. He missed doing this when he was still living in the village.

"Ouch!"

He leaped before the young mage could look down and swept the elf with his black magic. Swiftly copying his appearance and transfering him to another place. He made sure to cast the elf to a deep sleep before laying where he used to sit. "Damn..." he groaned. "Can you help me up?"

The young mage only then looked down and scoffed. "You suddenly became cripple after that? You almost cause a big ruckus."

'He has a commanding voice. Not sure if I like that.' Horan copied the elf's actions and flew to the man's side. "Seriously, my butt aches."

"Aide it with your magic. Make it impenetrable as much as possible."

'You little shit...' Horan laughed. "It's a waste of magic, you know?"

"We should be near them now. I heard they are residing here tonight. They must be having a conversation. We have to wait here 'til dawn. Are you up for it?"

Horan clasped his hands and nodded with delight. "Why not?"

Irlan smiled discreetly. "Now you know how to listen to me properly, Lance." He looked at Horan's eyes and said, "Be careful."

'Blue and pale grey eyes.' Horan's chest thumped with trepidation. He hastily shook his head and shrugged at the man. "Why don't you listen? My senses are not stronger than yours."

"Fine."

Irlan made a side step and scanned the roof for a hole. When he found none, he opted listening by the window. "Here. The wood's thin, we can both stay here."

Horan smiled and continued to watch as he bent down and listen diligently. After a few seconds, his expression twisted into disgust and embarrassment.

"W-What?" he sputtered, "What's this?"

Horan was fascinated by his flushed cheeks and frightened back. He swallowed repeatedly with the lack of interest to listen longer. Horan bend slightly and hear the moans of three different person inside one room.

Two male voices and one belonging to a woman.

He smirked. "Well?" he raised a brow at the young man's direction. "Did you not like what you hear?"

"WE HAVE to wait for them to shut up." Crushing a branch in his hand, the young man chewed on his lips repeatedly. "How can they be so promiscuous? Someone might hear them!"

"You heard there were three people inside. If someone wants to complain about it, they might just invite that person inside as well." Horan liked to mess up with his mind a little more. "Was that your first time hearing it?"

"Does it look like I listen to those kind of things regularly?"

Horan stared at his face. The young man was serious for a while before he noticed him. "What are you staring at? I said I don't, okay? The school would kill me."

"Yeah..." 'How boring.' Horan reached his hair. It was smooth. "You have a leaf right here."

They hid on a tree not too far from the house where they used to spy. Horan had no qualms about sitting there throughout the whole sound but the young man said something about religion that Horan made him want to shut his mouth.

And so he followed him to this tree.

"It's okay. The other guy's sound was fake though. The rasp of his voice was forced." Horan thought.

"And that's significant because?" The man burst in annoyance. "You seem to know a whole awful lot about those things."

Horan smiled sweetly. "It's because I'm older than you, hmn?"

He hissed. "Creep."

Horan shrugged. 'Well, he's not wrong.'
