"I COULDN'T believe that that jerk would just surrender himself to it. Are you sure you didn't do anything aside from tricking him to an eternal sleep?" Mathilda tapped the side of her face. "That does not merit a lot of hate, I think. For a man like him, he can get himself out of that coffin anytime he wants. Why wait for Joaquin to reach thirty before coming out? Is he avoiding being the father of your child?"

"I told you I don't know what's going on in his mind. He's a mysterious man, Mathilda. Even I took great lengths before actually knowing him as the ghost of the underworld."

'I have a clue. Maybe he wanted me to open the coffin myself. To admit defeat and call him back. It never happened. With the decades that had passed, I never did. That's why he went berserk ...now. Maybe he finally realized that I will never fall to the fate's wants.'

His relationship with Joachim was a complicated arrangement from the fates of the above and the lonely ghost king below.

The ghost king could not help but bring mischief to the world because he's lonely. He created chaos where he went. He can never be stopped. Alongside him is the 'hate' and the 'will' of those who were dead. It was hard to make an enemy out of him.

An entity created to balance the world's happiness with despair.

He guides the dead and counts their bones.

After all the things he had done, it was never enough.

Inside his palace where no living creature can get in, he sat with a frown and a little bit of expectation that the fates will give him a chance.

The fates holds the life of those who are living. But Joachim gathers the loose thread of those lives who were over.

He hoped that one day, a colorful thread of life will fall onto his hands.

It was Adarmus who was supposedly given to him.

Blue wolves lives a long time. And the world has become cruel to them. Where could they hide? Somewhere no one can hurt them? Somewhere they can be useful?

Adarmus was gifted to the ghost king. And when he came to know that, he hated it immediately.

At first, he hated because he is a man too. After all that he had given to the kingdom of Lyre, he was granted the title of a general. A man regarded with respect where he went— and Joachim's presence made fun of his title.

'How can I be the strongest man? When I'm supposed to play the 'mother' of this ghost king's heir?'

Adarmus now knew that what he used to think back then was wrong. Being able to bring Joaquin to the world and protect him with all that he had made him realize that being a strong person has nothing to do with gender.

The gender should never be the basis of strength for someone.

Still, Adarmus doesn't want to associate himself with Joachim.

The ghost king can live a thousand life times. And when the time comes that he became bored of Adarmus, he can always ask the fates for a new partner.

He can never live through that.

Adarmus would never accept that.

For him, it was unfair. The arrangement was never right.

Because even before the arrangement, he had already fallen in love with the ghost king. He had already craved him the way he never felt before.

He had already allowed himself to be bullied in ways he never imagined.

While the ghost king had always known that the setting was premeditated.

For Adarmus, it was first love. While for the ghost king, it was just part of the process of getting him.

He had no idea about everything.

Adarmus was so happy when he first tasted his kiss. He was so happy whenever his attention solely focusses on him.

He thought that Joachim felt the same.

It turns out, he already knew everything that would happen.

And it hurt Adarmus' pride.

"Mathilda, help me seal him once again." Adarmus found it hard to swallow but he uttered the sentence with firmness he had gathered all these years. "The underworld is fine with him just existing. He doesn't need to be let out and cause havoc, right?"

"Is this you being selfish again, dear?" Mathilda was never one to question his decision but this time, she's curious. "All these time I thought you sealed him because you want to do something good for your son— for everyone. But now that I think of it... were you really doing this for good or you just don't want to see him disappointed with you?"

"He can make Joaquin see again, Adarmus. He can protect Joaquin. You no longer have to use Lance. No longer need to alter corpses and earn the hate of the fates. He can be the father of your son—"

"He have me." Adarmus smiled. "Am I not enough as his father? I did all of that to give him the best that I can muster. Am I still the evil after all, Mathilda? Yes. I'm being selfish."

"Yes. I don't want to see him and hear it personally from him how he's disgusted with me. How he doesn't want me anymore and ask the fates for another one— I can't. I just can't."

"He sent my son a possessed old man to wake his blood in him but he didn't succeed. Still, I'm afraid he might find himself a way and connect with Joaquin. My son, he will hate me more than he doesn't want me right now. Mathilda, help me seal him one more time. I promise, this will be the last."

Mathilda knew that although Adarmus is known as a good person, there's a side in him that feels insecure and anxious which leads him to do something unimaginable. It was his first time recieving such brazen love.

Adarmus was used to the artificial appreciation that the people are willing to give him. He was loved because of his status as a blue wolf and not with his own potential. That's why he strive to become stronger. Being a blue wolf is everything there is to him.

That's why the truth about Joachim's advances pained him.

Maybe he's thinking at the moment, 'I thought he love me because I'm Adarmus and not because I'm a blue wolf.'

Mathilda was once again thankful that she didn't end up with Adarmus.

She would not be able to handle him.

Even the ghost king wasn't able to hold him properly.

Mathilda is afraid that no one could ever do.
