My sister caught the attention of the crime lord, but she already in love with someone else..

The day Vincent Rossi came to collect her, my sister slipped something into my drink and sent me in her place.

Then she disappeared overseas with her boyfriend, leaving no trail behind.

And I, her identical twin, became the wife of the ruthless Vincent Rossi.

After we were married, Vincent uncovered the truth.

In his rage, he subjected me to endless torment, breaking me in both body and spirit.

Five years later, my sister returned.

She went straight to Vincent and told him it was all my scheme – that I had deceived her into taking a job in some distant, dangerous country because I was desperate to marry into his world.

She claimed she'd barely escaped, and that my deception had stolen ten years of their marriage.

Blind with fury, Vincent had me thrown into the dog kennel.

Later, when the coast was clear, my sister came to me there and unleashed five vicious pit bulls.

"Forgive me, little sister," she whispered. "But you have to die. As long as you're alive, I'll never feel safe."

And just like that, five savage pit bulls tore me apart. My body was never recovered.

I opened my eyes, the familiar dread washing over me as I realized I had been given a second chance.

I was back on the day Vincent Rossi came to forcibly claim his bride.

This time, I won't let history repeat itself...

From down the hall, I could hear my sister Sophia's frantic sobs.

"Dad, Mom, I won't marry him!"

"Everyone in Chicago knows Vincent Rossi is ruthless, a cold-blooded killer!"

"They say his previous wives… he tortured them to death."

"Some were even tortured to the point of being less than human."

"If I marry him, it's a death sentence!"

"Besides, Liam and I swore we'd be together! If I can't be with the man I love, I'd rather die!"

"Sophia, honey, we know it's unfair," Mom's voice trembled, on the verge of tears.

Dad muttered guiltily in the background.

"But Vincent Rossi… we can't defy him. If you refuse, our whole family will pay the price."

"Sophia, I'm so sorry," Dad choked out. "It's my fault. I'm useless. I can't even protect my own daughter."

"But listen, sweetheart, if you truly don't want this… I'll fight them. I'll die before I let them take you."

I stepped out of my room and into the living room, my expression calm.

"Dad, don't talk like that," I said, my voice steady. "Vincent Rossi runs the Outfit. Your life means nothing to him."

Sophia shot me a look of pure disdain. "Easy for you to say! What do you suggest we do?"

The memory of her betraya—the pit bulls, my death—flashed through my mind.

Rage surged, but I forced it down.

I had to stay cool.

"Sophia, you go. Go with Liam. I'll marry Vincent Rossi in your place."

Silence fell over the room.

Sophia stared at me, disbelief written all over her face.

She hadn't expected me to volunteer.

"We're identical twins," I continued.

"Vincent only saw you once."

"He'll never know the difference."

In my previous life, at this exact moment, Sophia had suggested handing me over.

Our parents had agreed.

Same face, different daughters.

Sophia was always the golden child. I was… expendable.

Mom hesitated, a flicker of uncertainty in her eyes.

"If you're willing to take Sophia's place… that could work."

"But Vincent Rossi is powerful. Can we really fool him?"

"What if he finds out? He'll destroy us all."

Dad jumped in.

"Do we have a better option? Chloe's idea is solid. Sophia, you leave tonight. Go abroad with Liam. I'll give you all our savings. Even Vincent Rossi's reach doesn't extend overseas..."

Their focus was entirely on Sophia.

Not a single thought for what would happen to me in the Rossi household.

A familiar, icy chill spread through my chest.

Just like always.

Always giving in to Sophia.

Always putting her first.

I was just… background noise.

An afterthought.

Sophia lowered her head, thinking.

"Chloe's plan has merit… but there's a flaw."

"What if… we stage my death? Say I died suddenly of an illness. That's why Chloe is stepping in."

"Vincent couldn't argue with that."

Dad slapped his thigh. "Brilliant! Why didn't I think of that? Sophia, you're a genius."

And just like that, I was bundled into the sleek black limousine sent by the Rossi family...
