~Emily~

'When I said you're dead to me, I meant it!"

Steph raged out leaving dumfounded.

I was too confused to reply her.

She then walked away to who knows where.

What is wrong with Emily, she's been saying stupid things.

First, she accuses Rowan for pushing her into the river and then she accuses me taking advantage of Luther.

One thing was for sure I was not going to her and to beg for her forgiveness, not again.

I risked my life for hers and the best thing she can do is accuse me of taking advantage of Luther.

I stood at the downstairs corridors of the castle across the room where they Rowan in for questioning.

I worried for Rowan, he was going to get punished for something he didn't do.

DOOR OPENS

My heart raced as I saw one of the detectives walk out of the room, he had his hands in his pockets and a cigarette in his mouth.

Carter!

I was able to recall his name.

A short while later, Zayne walked out of the room, his leave looked pale.

I could not but worry and fear the worst for Rowan.

Finally, Rowan walked out of the room, with two detectives either side of him. It broke my heart to see them treating him like a criminal. Rowan still looked pretty calm.

He noticed my presence and winked at me with a broad smile on his face. Despite the situation I couldn't help but smile back.

The detectives walked away with Rowan until they left the castle and I could no longer see their backs.

'What did they say?" I asked Zayne as I approached him. He stood just outside his room, his mind long adrift.

'They're going to detain for some time, if there's no tangible evidence against him then he will be released on bail." Zayne said his tone very shabby and dull.

'Do you think he did it?"

'No, I don't know who your sister saw but it wasn't Rowan"

Zayne said confidence evident in his voice

'I've known Rowan my whole life, no matter how many times Luther offends him he would never do anything to him"

'So I don't think he pushed Steph"

'By the way, thank you for saving us earlier" I said to Zayne. Today seemed to go by in a blip, I forget to even say thank you Zayne for saving me.

'No problem" he struggled to speak.

I left his presence at once and headed upstairs to the maid quarters and then up to my room.

Since Steph left, I've had the room all to myself.

Steph got another room at the other end of the maid quarters.

I laid on my bed, my body was weak, making it a battle to even move.

My eyes seemed very heavy and as I gently closed it to sleep, I heard a loud noise.

'You monster!"

Reta's stern voice reached my ears as she barged into my room.

'Zayne has broken up with me and it's all your fault"

My eyes widened as I heard her words.

Zayne broke up with her?

But why?

'I swear Emily, I will kill you!!!" Reta screamed out loud.

A small crowd of people gathered outside my room.

Reta turned and left after taking a look round the people gathered outside.

All night all I could think about was Reta's words.

‘Zayne has broken up with me and it's all your fault'

I had a bitter taste feeling about it.

A part of me seemed happy that they've broken up. It give me a little hope that maybe Zayne loves me.

And another part felt a bit of guilt that I was the reason they broke up.

Was Reta actually right? Is it my fault?

————————

The warm rays of the sun shone across my face. My eye fluttered open.

I pulled off the light blanket I used to sleep and placed my feet down to the floor.

I glanced at the clock hung up to the wall.

'Oh fuck!! I'm late!"

I quickly freshened up and dashed out of my room in a flash.

I rushed up to the kitchen and approached Crystal.

She wore a horrible frown on her face on sight of me.

I instantly knew it was about yesterday.

I couldn't care less about Crystal.

I grabbed the tray and rushed to Zayne's room.

As I darted through the halls, my arms laden with the silver tray holding Zayne's breakfast.

My heart raced with a bit of anticipation of meeting Zayne. With Reta no longer his fiancée I could it was my chance to get closer to his heart.

Just as I rounded the corner of the castle and got up the grand staircase leading to Zayne's room, I heard a malicious yet familiar giggle. It was Reta.

With a swift and calculated movement she stuck out her foot.

My foot caught her outstretched leg, and time seemed to slow as I stumbled forward, the tray hanging up in the air.

A huge gasp escaped from my lips. I watched helplessly as the warm tea and butter dishes on the tray fell on me.

My body was soaked and drenched in the tea.

My clothes condemned.

Corners of the hall exploded into laughter. Fingers pointing at me, mocking me.

My heart sank in despair.

I looked up towards Reta, she had an evil grin on her face.

I buried my face down to the ground in shame.

Never in my life had I been embarrassed like this.

Tears rolled down my cheeks as I knelt down on the floor.

But then, a sudden silence appeared in the hallway.

'Everybody leave now!!" I heard a stern voice order.

I gently raised my head to see who it was.

Zayne!!

In a heartbeat the whole crowd in the hall way all disappeared.

'Reta!"

Zayne angrily called out Reta as he spotted her leaving.

She turned to him, her face looked wary. She gulped in an invincible lump.

'One more time Reta and I promise you, you will leave this castle"

Zayne gave her a stern warning as she listened carefully.

'Am I clear?" Zayne asked to Reta's silence.

'Am I clear?!!!!" Zayne asked again this time his voice was laced with more anger.

'Yes my lord" Reta said in a gentle tone.

'Now clean this up!" Zayne said pointing to the tea that spilled on the floor.

'Emily, let's get you cleaned up" Zayne said offering me a hand up and I obliged to it.

We walked away leaving Reta alone, I could tell she was boiling.

——————-

~Zayne~

Srrrrrrrhhh

My alarm beeps.

'Ahh..."

'Shut up stupid alarm"

Waking up on a Monday is usually tiring.

As the Lycan king I knew I had a long day ahead of me.

KNOCK

KNOCK

'Emily, you can enter" I said glancing at the time which read 8:12 am.

'My lord it isn't Emily, but Emily is in trouble" a young female voice reached my ears.

‘Emily is in trouble'

I jumped off to my feet and dashed out of my room.

{laughters}

Before the turn round the corner I heard distant laughter from a crowd of people.

'What's happening ?"

I squinted my eyes from a distance to de what the chattering was about.

WHAT!

My heart sank in despair.

I saw Emily kneeling on the floor, her body soaked in my tea.

A crowd of people around her, all mocking her.

My eyes spotted Reta, she had an evil grin on her face.

I'm sure she's behind this.

My sadness was soon replaced with rage.

I marched towards the crowd, silence soon filled the room on sight of me.

'Everybody go away!!" I ordered them my voice stern.

'Reta!" I called her over.

She turned over and gingerly walked towards me.

She could see the boiling rage in me.

'One more time Reta and I promise you, you will leave this castle"

I gave her a stern warning as she listened carefully, her eyes fixed on me.

'Am I clear?" I asked to Reta's silence.

'Am I clear?!!!!" I asked her again this time my voice was laced with more anger.

'Yes my lord" Reta said as she lowered her head.

Since we are no longer dating, I strictly warned her, not to call me anything but ‘my lord'.

'Now clean this up!" I said pointing to the tea that spilled on the floor.

Reta froze at the spot, her lips parted in shock.

She couldn't believe I ordered her like that.

But I can after all she is no longer my fiancée.

'Emily, let's get you cleaned" I extended my hand towards her as she knelt on the floor.

She had a dejected look on her face,I could not but feel for her.

She placed her right hand on mine, I then pulled her up to her feet.

We walked over to my room.

'You can use my bathroom, I'll get you some clothes"

'No, no need I can shower in my room" she said her voice modest.

'And go around the castle like this?NO!"

I insisted giving her condemning look, she finally obliged.

She grabbed a towel from my wardrobe and went straight to the shower.

In the meantime I sent for her clothes to be brought to my room at once.

The door to the bathroom swung open, releasing a gentle steam.

As the moisture drifted away, Emily emerged from behind the door, she was a maid yet a vision of elegance.

Her hair slicked back and glistening with droplets of water.

Her skin was moist and soft, steam from the warm water hovering around her body.

She got dressed into a simple yet fitted yellow dress. The dress exposed her curves in a way that was both modest yet seductive.

Fuck! She so hot!

'Thank you my lord for your kind gesture"

Emily's kind gesture almost disgusted me.

She was belittling herself a bit too much.

She then turned away from me to leave, before I grabbed her hand pulling her closer to my body.

My eyes locked with her deep brown eyes, I couldn't take my eyes off her.

My eyes moved lower down her face to her soft lips.

I lowered my head as I reached for her lips.

KNOCK

KNOCK

Suddenly a frantic knock shattered the romance in the room.

The door burst open, revealing Cedric, my acting head in command with Rowan's absence, he was panting heavily.

My heart leaped, there was evident terror in Cedric's eyes.

'My lord" he said his voice trembling.

'We have intruders!!

It's the rebels, they've breached our defenses".

What!

Rebels?

'How many are they?" I stood upright, straightening my spine.

'Too many my lord! They are vandalizing everything at the market square and soon they'll reach for the castle!"

Cedric's voice laced with more urgency.

'What do we do?"

I remained silent to his question, my mind adrift in thought of a solution.

Cedric pulled the curtain and glanced down through the window.

'There almost to the castle! We have to act now my lord!"

'Get the women and children to safety!

Gather our warriors now!"

'Prepare to go to battle!"

Cedric's exited my room in a hurry.

'What's happening?"

Emily asked, distress in her voice.

'We are being attacked"

I opened an abandoned cupboard beside my bed and pulled out my sword.

Its blade was sharpest ever forged. It's size times two of an average sword.

'Wait are you going to?"

'Yes, and whatever you do Emily don't leave this room!"

I warned Emily looking her right in the eyes. I won't forgive myself if anything happens to her.

'Be safe" her voice was tender and caring.

I exited the room slamming it hard on my way out.

The castle courtyard was soon rowdy, women and their children flooding back to the castle for safety, warriors running out to the castle front.

'Phew"

With a deep breath, I rushed out to battle.
