'Where is his band? Sired one's shouldn't be with out identification. New rules are strict for them."
In less than a month, Vampire King changed the code of conduct for the vampires. Charlotte hardly convinced the office clerk about Liam's collar and registered him successfully. They went straight to Ava's place who was excited as expected.
'Welcome to the gang, Liam. I am happy that you can stay out of this hell."
Charlotte was clueless about the 'happy" reason that behind these strict actions, Ava enlightened her,
'A sired one attacked his Master in the Royal Palace. Chaos after that enforced the laws of humiliation for them. Currently, they are treated like a dog. Collars ranging from simple ones to the electric ones are used to show them their place. You are lucky that you missed the mass slaughter of the suspects as a message to the rest. It was horrible!"
Ava shuddered while describing the scene of barbarous torture of separating skins and bones from flesh while keeping the victim alive. It was a routine punishment for the sired community but Liam was terrorized.
'Can we go back?"
Charlotte chuckled at his simplicity,
'Nope, we will get your card tomorrow and then leave."
Ava, who was thrilled to see a new sired one, didn't leave a single chance to scare him,
'Wherever you go, Charlotte is your Master. You can't avoid her call and punishment."
Liam was about to cry with fear, so Charlotte threw a pillow at her.
'Stop scaring him Ava. He is my friend. Don't speak nonsense."
Uncle and Aunt congratulated Liam when they came back from work in the morning. Raging inflation caused them to join extra night shifts, so when Liam presented them extra dollars as gifts, they were more than thankful.
Liam was a teacher before this transformation. He had a handsome bank account because of his parent's inheritance. Despite of Charlotte's assurance, Liam stayed awake whole day cautiously, behaving like a disciplined kid. In his restlessness, he counted that cash almost ten times, pacing back and forth continuously.
Fortunately, Uncle's connection got them an early appointment. They want to see the witch (Ramla) at 8:00pm.
'So much leniency for the first one? Be aware, they can be fatal."
Ramla was a young witch, quite reasonable too as she agreed to perform spell in this situation.
'Liam is nice man. I am sure that he will use this blessing well."
She smirked and opened her grimoire. Charlotte handed her a gold chain that she bought yesterday. Ramla muttered some spell and returned her that chain with in a minute.
'Ask him to wear this with a promise of never harming or disobeying you."
Liam did as instructed but he was puzzled,
'Is it done? Such a big problem and a 60 second spell. Strange!"
'You didn't train him? He is talking without permission!"
Ramla was offended at doubting her powers but she let it slip when Charlotte offered her extra dollars.
'I will come at your place tomorrow. With the power of the first ray of the Sun after sunrise, this chain will be at your day-light talisman."
As they were done, Charlotte attached the leash with Liam's collar as this was the only safe way for his wellbeing.
'Don't trust werewolves too much, Charlotte! In the end, you are a vampire. Your own kind will always support you."
She thanked her for this free advice. Charlotte was not blind to see it clearly that the werewolf Pack system was way better than their hypocrite society. Eric was a matchless ruler of his kind, not like the cruel Vampire King who only cared about his own comfort.
On their way back, Liam got Alpha's text inquiring about daily report. Charlotte smiled at his impatience as he was persisting on calling her.
'Little one, you should have a cellphone. What a stone age tradition it is to stay out with out connection?"
Charlotte: 'It's not about tradition Alpha. I don't have money to buy one."
'What?"
Charlotte had to remove the cellphone from her ear otherwise Alpha's loud growls was insisting on tearing her eardrum.
'Why did you not tell me, Charlotte? Come back quickly. It's my fault, I shouldn't have let you go."
She gave the cellphone back to Liam, as it was best to avoid his rant.
Next morning, Ramla arrived as promised, her mastery broke the law of nature and allowed Liam to walk freely in the day time.
'Can I go out? Please!"
This time he took precaution in Ramla's presence and got her approval to visit in Ava‘s small garden area. When he was busy in celebrating thr bounty of nature, Ramla handed a bottle of pink liquid.
'You paid me extra two thousand dollars, this is my gift for you. This is a scent blocker used by the Royals. I have deducted your fate and I am pretty sure you will need this in near future. Mark my words, Charlotte! Trusting your enemy is not a wise decision. I hope you could learn this lesson before any permanent damage."
As the last obstacle of travel was removed, Liam was all prepared to move. But Charlotte had other plans too. She went to see her roommates and introduced them to Liam and their friendly attitude relaxed him. He was happy to see others like him. They even exchanged their mobile numbers and added each other on social media.
On their way back, Charlotte visited her father's grave. She placed red roses (his favorite) on his tomb and shared all the events after leaving the city. It was strange but she felt that he was with her, listening to her daily routine.
At the border, Charlotte has to sign the agreement that she will be back soon with her sire as the pure bloods were also not allowed outside the Kingdom due to Alpha King Alexander Maximus's Royal Edict. She was told that it was mainly due to Alpha Eric's suggestion letter about the Vampire's security. Vampire King interpreted as an interference in his authority and restricted the movements inside and outside the border.
Charlotte was so angry that Alpha didn't keep his words!
They reached the Pack House at midnight, welcomed by the cantankerous Alpha Eric. He didn't mind Liam who was exhilarated to show his totem and picked up Charlotte to his room.
'Alpha, You broke your words. Liar!"
Eric who was already on top, bit her neck to register his disagreement,
'I didn't. Two days away and you are slandering me like this. What a progress, little one!"
Charlotte controlled her racing heart beat and irregular breathing, raising her objection,
'You, you wrote to Alpha King about that incident. You broke your promise!"
She was repeatedly distracted by Alpha's charm but still manage to form a sentence. He stopped for a moment before entering her,
'You asked not to inform the Vampire's authorities, not writing to Alpha King wasn't the thing I promised. No more questions, I am not done with you."
….
Due to staying up whole night, Charlotte woke up at 10 am. Liam was sitting beside the window, enjoying the sunlight.
'We humans don't appreciate the countless blessings around us. Like me, I appreciated the Sun when Iost it's warmth after my transformation. We are so ingrate."
As he was in philosophical mode in the morning, Charlotte called off her nonsense and went to the kitchen after a quick shower. She noticed changes in the Main Hall which she couldn't saw last night. There were some unfamiliar faces too. She couldn't help to ask Roslie,
'What about these changes, Roslie. Is there something special?"
She laughed at her innocence and informed her the alarming news,
'Alpha Eric is getting married…"
