Nine Years later.
'Raise your hands for our princess Star, who has turned eighteen tonight."
Everyone in the bar cheered for Star, dancing on the famous dance number. Charlotte a.k.a Star was in the middle of boys, a candle surrounded by the fire flies, enjoying her heart out.
Her girl's gang was prying on handsome guys in the bar, calling dibs.
'The blue one is mine, don't stare at him."
'What?"
Angie cried out,
'All the good ones are already around Star, Maggie. I am not stepping back for this package of hotness."
She enviously looked at Charlotte who was moving with the rhythm of the music, sashaying her lips like a vixen. Boys were fighting for her attention but she excused herself,
'Tonight is my birthday, I have to stay with my friends."
She came back to her bestie and made an announcement,
'Thanks for celebrating my birthday! All drinks are on me."
…
After a busy day, Charlotte was working in her dorm room while her roommate Angie was fast asleep. In her nine years stay in the human world, she concluded that the humans love money. They use it to cover their weakness and impose fake dominance on others.
As money can buy everything here, so she bought a fake uncle to look after her business as it will be suspectable that how a teenage girl had so much money without having any family background.
Starting from the grass root level, Charlotte managed to build a handsome business empire. She had three front men in different states to run things smoothly.
Currently, she was studying at Colorado State University for her degree in business administration. There was no need to repeat the same course in different colleges but still, Charlotte had to be a student in order to survive safely.
After completing the office work, she looked at the date '2nd March", the date of Alpha Eric's marriage. There were still five months in her 100th birthday but every year she celebrated this day as her birthday. Alpha Eric was literally the biggest lesson of life, resulting in the brand new version of Charlotte.
It was funny that her appearance also changed naturally with the passage of time. No matter how much she eats now, her weight never increases from 55 kgs. Perhaps, it was the part of puberty.
It was almost 7 am, so she woke up Angie and they went for the class together.
After the second class, she got a notice from HOD (Head of the Department) for an urgent piece of work. Charlotte gathered her books and strode towards the office where she was warmly welcomed.
Asher Brown, the HOD, was a friend of her so called Uncle here.
'How are your studies, Star? Are you facing any difficulties here?"
Charlotte felt relaxed as this was the routine trial every month.
'Thank you so much for asking, Professor. Yes, I am very happy here. Teachers are so kind and supportive."
She was expecting the demand of new interns in her business but to her surprise, Professor Asher addressed another issue.
'Mrs. Nora Smith ( Dorm's warden) reported that you are suffering from insomnia. Is it true?"
Charlotte was caught off-guard. She wasn't expecting that Aunt Nora will notice such a minor detail.
'She must be mistaken, Professor. I didn't sleep just last night because I was snoozed due to over work."
It was a white lie but still she tried to hold her ground.
'It's not about one night. She reported that you haven't slept for the last one month. Your roommate has also confirmed her notion."
Now, there was no way to deny it, so she lowered her head,
'I am sorry, Professor. I was stressed out due to studies."
Professor rose from his seat across the table and sat in front of her,
'You don't have to apologize. You are our Star, remember? I have made an appointment with a university psychiatrist. Discuss your problem and rearrange your schedule."
Charlotte nodded and walked towards the other department's building. She was cursing,
'What the heck? Why humans are so curious? With their short life time, they should focus on their own lives instead of playing Sherlock Holmes for others."
She was expecting a cranky old man in the name of a doctor but today was the day of surprises. A fine young man with square box glasses was waiting for her.
'You must be Star. I am Daniel Webber, your consultant psychiatrist."
He offered for a hand shake but she avoided and got seated. Daniel smiled professionally without minding her rudeness,
'Professor Asher gave me a hint about your problem. Do you feel difficulties while sleeping or you don't feel sleepy at all?"
Charlotte sighed as his glasses were saving him for her compulsion,
'I just feel tired all day. I don't feel the need sleep even when I lay in my bed."
'How long its been like this?"
How could she tell him that she hasn't slept for the last nine years. After listening Alpha's views about herself, sleep didn't give her a chance to forget those words, not even for a second.
In starting days, human medicines didn't work for her and she could not go back to the Vampire Kingdom as Alpha was looking for her. Later, despite of the fact that Alpha gave up on her, she made peace with her insomnia and moved on in her life.
Moreover, it was more fruitful to work round the clock and earn more money. Charlotte was lost in her thoughts when Daniel inquired again,
'So, recent break up or current boyfriend issues?"
She looked up and saw his grin which fumed her,
'What do you mean, doctor?"
'Girls of your age normally have the same problems: cat fights, betrayals, break ups. Besides, you are a pampered child, so I guess that's the only issue bothering you."
As Daniel directly pressed her aching nerve, she got up,
'I need some fresh air. Can we do this later?"
He immediately presented his card with earnest tone,
'Sure! Take your time. In fact, I suggest that we can talk anywhere else where you feel comfortable. Take my card, I will wait for your reply."
Charlotte left hurriedly from his room. He sat on his chair, a mysterious smile spread over his handsome face,
'Interesting!"
