'What happened to Eric?"
Liam was back from his trip, the Pack's severe condition startled him. Only Luna and Charlotte were allowed outside the Intensive Care Unit, Liam joined them as Eric's only bosom buddy.
'Eric is poisoned! Matthew is investigating the premises."
Luna replied his query shortly. Charlotte was silent, too numb to speak or react. She used to believe that the mate-bond between them was just a suggestion or a choice but now, shared feelings of throbbing pain astounded her.
The connection between their souls was inevitable, binding them together for good.
'We have washed Alpha's stomach but next twenty four hours are critical for him."
Head doctor informed them, his grave expressions were not implying any good.
'Stay with my Eric, he will heal faster."
Charlotte was perplexed at Luna, who was begging to her.
'Mates have the mystical power to fight against all odds. Only you can bring him back. Eric is my only child, I can't lose him."
Dazed by Luna's piteous cries, Charlotte followed the doctor into the I.C.U, where Eric was barely breathing with the help of life support.
'It was an attempt to kill Alpha.I hope that the Moon Goddess will have some pity on our Pack."
Doctor's resolute statement shook her to the core, Charlotte grabbed Eric's hand while doctor left, leaving them alone.
'Rick!"
She called Alpha's wolf, hoping that he would respond to here but the grave silence after multiple whispers confirmed her deepest concerns. Unable to do anything, she laid down beside him, placing her head on his broad chest.
'I am not done with you, Eric. You have to live."
She allowed the pool of the tears to stream down her eyes which she was hiding successfully before the whole Pack.
'You can't die peacefully after messing up my life. I need you to be alive for my vengeance."
…
'State your intentions, Amy. I don't have whole night for you."
Mathew's growl quaked the whole dungeon.
'Please trust me, Gamma. I didn't mix anything in Alpha's drink. The bottle was sealed when I replaced it with the empty ones."
Leather whip struck on her chest again, Mathew was not satisfied by the degree of torture inflicted on Amy.
'You can check the vampires in the Pack, too. I never stepped out of the borders in my life. I don't have any money to buy this kind of deadly venom."
As that whip landed on her mercilessly, Amy cried out in agony.
'Check this report, Boss. This matter is not so simple as it seems."
Gamma Mathew snatched that envelop from guard impatiently.
'These vampires! Sir Liam was out of the town, put that Jason and Rory in the prison."
He bolted out to arrange a necromancer, pathology report clearly pointed out the traces of something magical in poison's composition.
As an advocate of power and valour, werewolves rarely needed assistance of wizards or witches. Vampires on the other hand, were mainly depended on the witchcraft for their sneaky tricks.
Coming up face off instantly solved the mystery of this attack,
'Vampire King stooped too low this time. Your time has come, you blood sucker!"
Markian cursed the entire vampire race (except his Luna) and checked the old records for any contact details of covens. Clock was ticking and those random clicks on laptop screen were not helping enough. So, he abandoned the useless search and decided to track the witches of North, the nearest coven.
Rushing outside the Pack house, he was stopped by a mountain of inhumane strength.
'What's the hurry, Gamma Mathew?"
Rubbing his hurting shoulder, Mathew looked up and saw Elijah Morgan, the advisor of Alpha King. He was there as a referee for the combat.
'Alpha's life is in danger. Vampire King used magic to kill him."
Psychopathic gaze of Elijah turned into a murderous one immediately.
'This is clearly an attempt to corrupt the results of tomorrow's combat. I will send a notice to Vampire Kingdom for this measley trick."
He brought out his cellphone and dialed a number,
'But before that, Alpha's treatment is necessary."
Elijah's incoherent whisper was inaudible for Gamma Mathew, his patience was running out. Fortunately, he didn't have to wait for long and with a loud rumble, a circle of white light appeared in front of his eyes. A beautiful young lady stepped out of it.
'Whose life is in danger?"
Her mixed aura confused Mathew but he didn't voice his doubt. That girl was a witch of some kind, this was enough for him.
She flicked her hand and boom! They were inside the I.C.U. Charlotte tried to get up but that witch stopped her.
'You must be Alpha's mate. Stay by his side, it will help."
Without wasting any second, she grabbed Eric's wrist and slashed it, drawing his blood.
'See, how his blood is black with toxin. But don't worry, cure of this spell is pretty simple."
A vial of some orange liquid was poured into the drip, she explained the puzzled audience in detail.
'This particular sorcery is often used to intensify or accelerate the process such as freezing or melting.
The executer was smart enough to use this for enhancing the outcome of the poison: mixture of toxic mercury, wolfs-bane and silver."
Then she placed three more vials on the table and instructed to use them carefully.
After this quick healing session, that witch was about to leave when Elijah wrapped his arm around her petite waist.
'Why don't you spend a night with me, Lilah? It will be time consuming to call you. There can be an emergency again."
Lilah gazed at him, removing his arm.
'Don't be so clingy, Elijah. James is alone at home. Besides, there will be no problem. Trust me!"
He let go of her reluctantly, a flash of softness on his stern face disappeared with her magical exit.
At last, Gamma Mathew inquired him.
'Isn't she….?"
'Yes, she is my Erasthai."
This confirmation shut his mouth completely, he then guided Elijah to the guest room. On his way back, head warrior Julian mind-linked him,
'Jason is not confessing his crime, Gamma."
'What about Rory?"
'We found her dead body in the forest, she was killed last night!"
…
In Gamma's office, Julian presented the belongings of Rory.
'These articles were retrieved from Rory's bag. Most surprising thing was a mobile phone with her dead body.
Sired vampires from the Vampire Kingdom didn't have the luxury of clean clothes, so money and the passport is hinting towards her spy status."
Mathew was impressed with Julian's insight, who also checked the flight booking to Australia.
'Give this cellphone to Sinjin, he will break it's code. Sir Liam was too innocent to believe such kind of horrible woman.
This discussion will stay between you and me. I'll inform Luna but don't mention about that woman's back stabbing ever again."
