The driver's odd silence was alarming, Ramla supported her out where Alpha crushed her in a hug.

'Little one!"

His anguished sobs flooded her emotions, Charlotte wrapped her arms around him. Her eyes wandered around for Liam, as his efficient news bulletin would clear the whole situation. But he was nowhere around in the grieving crowd.

Then the two rows of coffins shattered her heart, the loss of warriors was a serious setback in the battle.

She rubbed Alpha's back to soothe his worry, it was a wide known fact that Eric was touchy about his Pack.

Eventually, Eric's sobs died down, he collected himself and took her to the mourning families. A total of twelve warriors lost their lives in the recent ambush, the entire Pack was covered by dark clouds of gloominess.

Alpha and Charlotte paid their respects to eleven warriors and consoled their families, but a widow beside the twelfth coffin was curled on the ground, hugging her knees to her chest.

'I am sorry for your loss, dear. Pack will take care of your family. You are not alone in this."

Charlotte repeated the formal words to support her, she felt strange when Alpha didn't follow her. That widow in white raised her head, Charlotte's feet refused to bear her weight anymore, a scream escaped her mouth.

'Amy?"

'Liam! He left me alone, Luna."

Alpha held her in his strong embrace, but Charlotte was out of control.

'No, it's not true."

She forcefully opened the coffin and grabbed Liam's warm body.

'Wake up! Your sire is ordering you, Liam. Wake up!"

Amy got up and hugged her, their cries and wails watered everyone's eyes.

'He was fine this morning. It's me, Luna. I am a curse. The darkness of my fate has killed my husband. I am the villain here.

Why am I even alive?"

Placing her head at Liam's chest, Amy cried her eyes out. Even at the time of the funeral, she resisted the last ritual, persisting over impossible.

'Bury me with him, Alpha. I don't want to live anymore. Please!"

Her begging couldn't get Charlotte's support, as she lost her consciousness after this shock. Ramla took her to the Pack house for treatment.

Eric's mother stepped forward and dragged Amy out of the cemetery. The doctor from the Pack's hospital injected sleeping medicines to all the widows to eliminate the risk of their wolves' suicide from the heartbreak, as their families needed them too.

Lily sighed and cleaned her streaming ears, her own wounds got refreshed.

'Losing your mate is hard to endure. But you have to live for your pups. We have to understand that our mates have left us to complete the task and tend to the responsibilities which they cannot attend now."

Her pep talks and Pack's support helped the female in sorrow and misery, the threat of more causalities finally removed with the sunrise.

On the other hand, Alpha was yelling at Ramla, as Charlotte didn't wake up.

'It was a great shock for her, Alpha. You could have given us a heads-up before. Luna, with her current situation, will take some time to regain consciousness."

Within a month of her wedding, Amy was a widow again, like the Moon goddess also didn't adore her escape from the dark fate.

Crying alone in her house, she remembered the happiest days of her life, when Liam made her feel like a Queen.

'This is your breakfast. Eat well, Amy. You are so thin."

'I have done the laundry. You must be tired after duty."

'Wear some bright colors, they suit you well."

In every corner of the cabin, Liam was smiling at her, speaking nonstop. She rushed to feel his presence, but that shadow disappeared in thin air. She began to cry piteously.

'No, I can't live to wait for another death. I have to end this cycle of misery."

Amy went to the kitchen and brought out a chief's knife, which Liam used to prepare food for her. After their wedding, he never let her step foot in this area of their home, stating.

'You are a Queen, Amy. Let me serve you."

'I am coming to you, my love. Wait for me."

She closed her eyes and fixed that knife in her hand firmly, aiming at her heart.

'Amy!"

Two panicked voices shouted at her from a distance, Gamma Mathew broke in through the window and stopped her in time.

'Are you crazy? We are here for you, Amy. Don't leave us."

Jason came in at a lightning speed, they both sandwiched her in their arms.

'Stay away from me. I can destroy a happy home in the blink of an eye. Save yourselves."

Amy struggled to break free, her eyes swollen from constant crying.

'No, Amy. You are a pure soul. It's a test of the Goddess. Have faith."

Mathew tried to comfort her with empathy, which backfired completely.

'I am sick and tired of these tests. Why am I always the only one to suffer in the end? What's my fault?"

As there was no possible answer to her queries, they stayed like this for a length of time. The greater plan of the Moon Goddess was out of their feral minds.

After twelve hours of slumber, Charlotte woke up to a dejected Alpha, the bleakness of the atmosphere cut through her heart.

'Eric! It was not supposed to happen."

Alpha pulled her closer to his chest, hiding his tears.

'Liam was supposed to do the office work, how can he die in the battle?"

'He fought bravely, little one. We were not expecting that you have trained him to perfection."

He caressed her hair softly, soothing her injured soul.

'We had the upper hand in the combat when I reached the Pack, Mathew, and Julian were controlling the situation skillfully. The only problem was the silver bullets. As the opponent's army was equipped with heavy weapons, we were losing our soldiers because of this.

Everything was under control until yesterday. When Liam was making a list of dead rogues, a sneaky, wounded rogue shot him in the heart, he couldn't survive and died on the spot. There was not enough time that he could be taken to the hospital."

Alpha's trembling voice was illustrating the extent of the damage inflicted by Liam's sudden death, his best friend's loss took a toll on him.

His mate's falling health was already weakening him, the inadequacy to save his Pack members crushed his soul. He clutched his Luna to his chest and spoke his mind.

'This is so hard to endure, little one. Please get up and look after everything. I need your support in this."
