The rattling of chains and squeaking of the iron tires shattered the eerie silence in the room, maids left quickly as that black cloaked man raised his hand.

'The devil!"


After seeing his bloodshed in the concert, Charlotte never thought that she would see him like this, but the silver cage behind that tall man paralyzed her for a moment.

'Eric!"

Her gut-wrenching scream resonated in the whole surrounding. Charlotte shot up to rescue him, but those restraints kept her in place. Eric's Alpha wolf was caged in a silver cage, two sired vampires settled the cage in the chamber and closed the door while leaving.


Eric raised his eyes and whimpered, the extent of injury inflicted on him rendered him motionless.

'How did you break into the security of the Royal Castle? You..."


Charlotte was short of words to speak her mind, her heart pounded against her rib cage like a desperate prisoner, her breath hitched in her throat. That cloaked man stood still for half a day, the silence in the room was oppressive, the ticking of the clock deafening in its persistence.

'There wasn't any need to deal with the Royal guards."

His cold, menacing voice sent chills to her bones. She stopped breathing as the devil's hand reached his hood.

He paused for a moment and flipped it, revealing his face in the bright light.

'I practically live here, there is no need to take permission from anyone."

'No!"

Another high pitch scream escaped her mouth, Charlotte closed her eyes shut,

'It can't be true."

She repeated this line as a lifesaving mantra and then parted her eyes slowly. Casper was removing that black cloak; he chuckled and threw it on the bed.

'Isn't it strange that this simple piece of cloth can change the identity of a person? At least I was famous as a devil before as a Prince. Sometimes parents can also mess up in parenting. Take the example of my father lord, he couldn't bear to announce me as his son in public but declared that a devil was hunting in human towns.

Poor lad! He couldn't even scream when I poisoned him."

He glanced at the clock and began to search in his pockets.

'It's already 6:00 am. We must hurry, guests are waiting."

It was a miracle that Charlotte got over the five stages of fear and shock instantly, her mate's condition switched on her survival mode. She calmed down her racing heart and hissed at Casper, who was dressed in a white shirt and black pants for the wedding.

She pushed back all the fear and abhorrence connected to the name; her friend's face was haunting her to the core.

'Are you talking about Eric?"

Casper grabbed the silver bars and broke into a fit of laughter.

'You are so innocent, Star. Your simplicity never failed to enamor me. It's our wedding, my love. I will get rid of this animal today and marry you as my Queen."

Charlotte's blood boiled at his audacity to betray her, she struggled against the restraints, as her nails extended to tear him apart.

'Don't injure yourself, Star. Your pain hurts me."

Casper jumped to her side and stopped her, Charlotte spat on his face.

'You are a taint in the name of loyalty and friendship. I treated you with my heart, and what did you give me in return?

Treachery?

Dishonesty?

I am ashamed to even think that I consider you as my friend."

The condition of Eric was cutting through her heart, she cried out at her soulmate's misery.

'You are so naïve, Star. It's a fact that you don't know whom to trust."

Casper cleaned his face with a handkerchief and walked towards the cage.

'Do you remember that Eric was poisoned before the fight? And then his beautiful first chance mate came back to claim her right on him?"

He raised his brow and played a video on his cellphone.

'You will mix this vial in Alpha's wine bottle. It will work in five seconds."

Charlotte's eyes couldn't believe that the girl beside Rory was Ramla, instructing her to use the poison. Then she was shown with Melinda, sending her to the Silver Moon Pack with the plan of separating them.

'You have to work on our agenda to create misunderstandings between Alpha and Her Highness. This is the only that she will willingly sign the rejection letter for Alpha Eric."

'You made this up, Casper. It's not true. Ramla is nature's servant. She cannot do this to me."

Charlotte shook her head wildly, not admitting the truth.

'Even the purest of hearts can surrender before darkness. Don't underestimate the allure of shadows."

He shuffled his memory and came up with a new blast from the past.

'You think I am a liar? Alright then, what about the incident when you lost your mind and killed countless people? Do you know how you became violent suddenly?"

Casper played another video in which Ramla was mixing a crimson liquid in the restaurant's winery.

'As you can see, the presence of this blood in the bar's alcohol transferred to you through the victim's blood that night. Any guess whose blood was that?"

He unbuttoned his shirt and revealed a scar on his chest.

'It was my heart's blood, Star. I fed you my essence to capture your soul, but still, you chose Eric. That was the day I realized that I should change my plan. You are dense and stupid in love matters."

He sighed deeply, as if Charlotte was a ten-year-old kid.

'You can try whatever you want. My choice is always Eric. I love him, he is my soulmate."

'I am your beloved."

Casper stomped his feet on the ground and yelled hysterically.

'We are the Vampires, Royals, cousins, and soulmates. What else do you need for a compatible couple? You are my Queen, picked by the Goddess Sanguis. Charlotte! Come back to our world and accept your fate. I have done so much for you, why can't you just choose me?"

He slashed his arm and stalked towards her dangerously.

'You are mine. Even you cannot deny my love for you."

'You have gone crazy. Leave!"

Casper kept her head in a place and fed his venom forcefully, Alpha Eric couldn't lift his claw to save his mate. The high dosage of the concentrated wolfs-bane immobilized his warrior wolf, even he was frozen to the spot in his wolf form because of the pure silver.

For a moment, Charlotte fought against Casper's hold but quietened down gradually.

'Casper."

A wave of horror washed over Eric's whole existence; his mate's honey-sweet voice sounded foreign to him.

'I am here, Star."

Casper cupped Charlotte's face and sniffed her passionately.

'You smell like Heaven, Star. This dog's mark has ruined your scent. I don't like it."

Her glistening eyes swam with tears, she spoke apologetically.

'Please don't be mad. I will remove it."

Charlotte struggled against the chains to free her hands, Casper mocked Eric with a suggestive wiggle of his eyebrow.

'See, it worked. My venom has easily overpowered her mind, Eric. Ramla's magic has lived up to its name. That's why I left her alive, even though she was my partner in crime."

He picked up a key from the side table and bent to unchain her.

'Before the formal ceremony, we will make love right before your eyes, Alpha. It's my repayment for the insult of the fight day."

He kissed Charlotte's forehead, and she giggled, raising her head for more. He handed a knife to her free hand to remove Alpha's mark from her neck before.

'I will mark you today, Star. No one will separate us again. Ever!"
