Knock Thrice.
"Who's there?"
"Scarface."
Door opens, walks into the dark room, door shuts. Apprehension slithers in as she walked blindly through the narrow passage. Her vision slowly adjusted and she was able to see that they were heading towards the light area at the end of the passage.
She was going to regret this. A warning voice at the back of her head was screaming for her to go back, that this was reckless and stupid.
Her parents were going to arrive tomorrow and if she didn't come back tonight or if she was caught then her mother would throw another fit. Maybe ground her for a whole year.
But she kept moving forward.
"Enjoy the party," The bouncer told her, pulling open the curtain that served as a entryway. Her eyes widened when she saw what was happening. It was a full house, quite similar to the one she saw back in Ontario. Everyone was cheering and she was pretty sure they were drunk as well.
Aurora released a frustrated exhale. How in the world was she supposed to find him in here?
Ryan hadn't even given her much instruction on what to do after she had entered and she was foolish enough to blindly come here.
"Hey, pretty!" A young brunette slurred beside her, a dopey grin on his reddened lips.
She gave him a cutting look and sneered before stalking off. It would be impossible to find her way through the crowd and it was too dark to see anyone's faces, only dim red and green strobes lighting the large room.
Her phone buzzed in her hand and she lifted it, frowning at the new text.
R; I'm assuming you're inside now.
She scowled at the message and hit the call button, it rung once before he picked up,
"Hello, flower."
"Don't flower me," She cut in brashly and he chuckled making her bristle, "How the heck am I supposed to find you?"
She heard him mutter something to someone before finally replying, "What's the colour of your shirt?"
"How do you know I'm wearing a shirt?" She asked cockily and he blew out a breath. Aurora could imagine him rolling his eyes and raking those long fingers through his wavy locks.
"Fine," He dragged out begrudgingly, "The colour of your gown then, what is it?"
Her lips quirked up slightly and she looked around, hoping she could find out where he was hiding, "I'm wearing a black and white striped Versace shirt and a matching black leather mini skirt. I'm also wearing a midnight blue baseball cap with rhinestones at the front and a small sized makeup purse."
"That's a vivid description," He stated dully and she smirked even when she was sure that that wasn't a compliment.
She shrugged as though he could see her, "I want to be sure that you don't miss me."
"I don't imagine anyone would miss someone like you, especially in your Versace shirt," He drawled, dragging the last words like it was a curse or something.
Before she could say another word, he hung up and she pulled the phone away from her ear, glaring at it. What was up with his attitude? Wasn't he the one that wanted her here?
After rambling on about how she was his lucky charm or something?
She blew out a breath and tried to see if she could wriggle her way through the crowd when she felt a light tap on her shoulder. She swiveled instantly, coming face to face with a large man donning on a daunting tattoo that began at the side of his neck and disappearing underneath.
He looked her up and down, a displeased scowl etched on his features. "Aurora?"
She nodded dumbly, eyes still wide in awe at the huge male. She recognized him as the guy from the that other night, the one she called a bear. For a brief moment, she wondered if Sandy was here too.
She kind of liked the girl.
"Follow me," He gestured behind him with his head and began walking, she blinked at him for a moment before realising what he'd said.
Aurora struggled to keep up with him, she blames herself for choosing to wear these darn heeled boots. "Wait up!" She yelled behind him but her cries fell on deaf ears, finally they came to a stop after climbing steps that led to a raised platform.
Aurora noticed that it was more secluded than the rest of the area and they were chairs too. She wiped off the sweat in her forehead with the back of her palm and faced the bear Man to give him a piece of her mind when large arms wrapped around her waist.
The familiar scent of pepper and sandalwood tickled her nostrils and she looked over her shoulder, surprised to see Ryan smiling at her,
"W-when did you get here?"
He answered her question with a kiss to the mouth, it was slow and excruciatingly tantalising. He tasted wonderful and she found herself leaning further into the kiss but he pulled away making her whine softly,
His lips quirked upwards, "After the match, I promise," He pressed a quick kiss to her lips before releasing her. "Look after her for me, will you?"
He was referring to the tattoo bear guy who nodded grimly. He shot one last smirk at Aurora before jogging down the raised platform and disappearing into the ring.
She felt a tap on her shoulder and turned to see bear guy holding out a seat for her. She frowned when he gestured at the furniture with his head,
"Sit. It's going to be a long fight."
Aurora gave him a skeptical look but decided on seating. He was probably not much of a talker but didn't mean that the expression on his face didn't scare her. He looked like he was minutes away from strangling someone and she had a niggling feeling that that person might be here.
She looked away from the bear Man and focused on the crowd. She held her breath as the two boxers approached each other, from this spot she could see Ryan's face vividly and her heart clenched.
He was fine, she muttered to herself as reassurance. He did the all the time.
The bell suddenly rang thrice and then the fight begun. Her eyes followed the rapid movements of the two men in the ring, occasionally a small gasp would leave her mouth every now and then, her eyes wide in mesmerization.
She'd always known that Ryan was strong but she didn't expect him to be this agile. The fight ended as soon as it began and of course, Ryan was crowned the winner. Loud cheers and howls erupted and she saw some girls handing out cash to people.
It was not surprising that they had turned this into a bet.
She watched as Ryan was crowded the moment he stepped out of the ring, girls and men surrounded him all hailing his victory. Her heart skipped when his eyes found hers and for a moment, it felt like it was only the two of them in the room,
He winked and then his mouth moved, ever so slowly but she caught each word, "Lucky Charm."
She couldn't resist the smile that curved on her lips and made to whisper back when he was blocked from her view by the crowd again. Her shoulders deflated and a small frown pulled at her mouth,
"Ryan is a good fighter," She didn't need to turn around to see who it was. "Don't you agree?"
This time, she looked over her shoulder at the bald man who was surprisingly staring at her curiously, a small frown between his brows.
She cocked a brow, wondering why he asked such an obvious question but decided to humour him anyways, "He is," She answered softly.
He nodded once, "I'm glad you agree because then you must know that he's at the peak of his success." His face suddenly grew darker, lips twisting into a scowl, "Which means that he doesn't need any distraction."
Aurora frowned.
Her cocked his head towards her rhinestone purse, "You look rich. I bet you're the daughter of some hotshot and I'm sure someone like Ryan appeals very much to you. He's hot, dangerous and everything your mama probably warned you to stay away from." He scoffed, eyeing her distastefully, "But if all you're looking for is some hot sex then I recommend you end whatever you two are building up."
Aurora tried not to show how much his words affected her but it was useless, her fingers trembled badly and his eyes flickered in that direction. He leaned forward, dark blue eyes boring into hers,
"You're nothing to him. He's nothing to you. End it before it gets nasty."
He straightened and flashed her a grin that seemed more predatory than nice. She was numb as he tipped his head at her and walked past, bumping a shoulder against hers. Aurora stumbled weakly, falling against the metal chair she was previously sitting on.
Her eyes found him in the crowd like a magnet, people were still cheering him on and there was a huge smile on his face. A glow she hadn't seen in his eyes shone brightly even from the distance.
You're nothing to him. He's nothing to you.
She knew that, it was why she started their relationship in the first place. The man was right, yet why did the realisation hurt so much?
