As I walk through my front door I quietly close it behind me only to stop in my tracks when I see my mom sipping a glass of wine in the living room.

I try to sneak past her but to no avail.


"You sneak out of the house at two in the morning only to return at seven in the evening" she states with a suspicious tone which causes me to slowly turn around and face her

"Is there something that you want to tell me?" She asks but it sound more like a demand

"I was on a jog" I say with a shrug as my voice raises in pitch


Great, now she knows that I'm lying.

"You're grounded for two months and you're not allowed to see or communicate with Charlotte" she says which causes me to gape at her in disbelief


Being grounded for two months, I don't mind.

Not being able to communicate with my best friend, I couldn't do.

Especially at a time like this.

"Mom, You can't do this. You don't understand how important it is for me to be there for her right now" I say as I like to keep my voice leveled

If I yell at her then I'm only digging myself a deeper hole.

"Oh yeah, how important is it then?" She asks with a smirk which causes my eyes to widen

She just tricked me.

My own mother just tricked me.

I blush as I look down at my feet from embarrassment.

"I can't say. She wants to keep it private" I say as I peek up at my mom only to see her nod

"Go up to your room, we'll discuss this later" she says which causes me to nod before I run up the stairs and close my bedroom door behind me

Oh god, that was too close.
