Charlotte's POV

I woke up a couple of minutes ago and quickly figured out that Henry locked us down here.


No one else has a reason to.

"Where is Aspen?" I ask as I look over to an empty chair where I assume she was sitting

"He probably did minimal damage to her since he's her dad" Kayden groans out with an eye roll


What crawl up his ass?

As I go to question him I'm stopped by the door opening and revealing Henry.


I give him a murderous glare as he makes his way towards me.

"The bosses requested to see you" he states blankly before untying my restraints and forcing me out of the chair

"Try anything stupid and they'll send their soldiers your way" he grunts out before leading the way down a hall

I make sure to observe my surroundings so that I can find my way back.

As soon as we stop in front of two giant double doors he opens them and reveals what's hiding inside.

I gasp in shock when my eyes land on the sight in front of me.

My parents are sitting on a luxurious looking couch.

My parents?!

I look across from them at a furious looking Aspen.

Oh that's where she went.

I walk into the room and stop beside Aspen.

"Are you okay?" I ask her with a tone of confusion

"I think you should talk to your parents" she says and tilts her head in my parents direction

Great, what did they do now?!

"Nina, Bruce" I greet them in a emotionless tone

"Charlotte, we would love to have a discussion with you regarding your sexuality" Nina says

"I don't see why that's any of your business" I state matter of factly

I already know what they're going to say.

Ever since Aspen and I became close they've been questioning me about our friendship.

"It's our business because we're your parents" Bruce suddenly yells out while angrily standing up

"You lost that title the day you left me and didn't come back" I say

I notice that they don't give away any indication of guilt or sadness.

In fact, they look unbothered by it.

"Oh don't be such a drama queen" Nina says with an eye roll as she takes another sip of tea

I close my eyes and take a deep breath before opening my eyes again.

Arguing with them won't get you anywhere.

"What did you call me in here for?" I question them

"This girl claims that you love her," Nina starts out as she gestures to a distracted looking Aspen

"So?" I question

What does this have to do with anything.

"Is this true?" Nina questions slowly

"Yes, I'm in love with her" I say

They both stared at me with shocked looks.

Is it really that surprising?

Do I have to yell out that Aspen and me are dating every time I enter a room.

"Bullshit" Bruce suddenly yells

"Do you want me to prove it?" I challenge getting irritated

"God, please, no" Nina says as she rubs her temples

"I didn't raise a gay daughter" Brunch yells angrily

"Good thing you didn't raise me then" I say with a fake smile before putting my arm securely around Aspen's shoulders

She smiles and wraps her arms around my midsection lovingly.

We turn to leave the room since I don't feel like listening to those crazy people anymore.

"Pick and choose your battles wisely, Thunder" Bruce says lowly as if trying to intimidate me

I've heard my stomach make scarier sounds than his pathetic attempt at a warning.

"I think I just did" I say before leaving their room and slamming the door behind me

I glance around and surprisingly see no Henry.

That's a first.

"Go untie Carolina and Kayden, I'll call the rest of my gang members and tell them what's about to happen" I say in a mature tone

"What if I get caught?" She asks with a worried tone

"Then scream as loud as you can" I say with a reassuring smile

She nods and goes to turn around.

As I'm turning around I feel her quickly pull my arm towards her body before her lips land themselves perfectly on mine.

I gently grip her cheeks in my hands as she roughly grips my hips and brings them closer to hers.

I pull away from her lips and rest my forehead against hers so that I don't get carried away.

"Someone's a little eager" I tease her which causes her to bite her bottom lip

"I'm always eager when it comes to you" she says effectively rendering me speechless

"That was kind of cringey" I say with a smile

"It's the truth" she says with a shrug before running off in the direction leading towards the basement.

She's so random.

I carefully peek around the corner at the basement door and see Henry guarding the door.

I quickly look around for something to throw only for my eyes to land on a forgotten penny.

"I hope this works" I whisper out as I grab the penny

I take a deep breath before chucking the penny down the hallway causing it to make a loud ding.

I quietly hide behind a chair when I hear footsteps coming my way.

I hear his footsteps stop in front of me which has my whole body freezing up.

Shit, shit, shit.

He suddenly turns around and continues to walk in the other direction.

Thank you, Jesus.

I carefully stand up and sneak past him. I make sure to quiet my footsteps but still be fast.

I turn the doorknob and notice that it's unlocked. I push the door open and slide in before closing behind me.

"Aspen?" I hear Carolina ask

"Yes, I'm here to untie you" I say as I lock the door

I walk towards them and stop in front of Carolina. I lean over and carefully untie her wrists which are a bright red color.

I look over at Kayden and notice him fast asleep.

I roll my eyes as I walk over to him and quickly untie his wrists and ankles.

Those knots were not easy to untie either.

I'm just a little more experienced since Henry grounded me for a whole week and showed me how to tie and untie these knots.

That might've been the only useful thing that he taught me.

"Do I smell pizza?!" I say excitedly while fake sniffing

"Pizza! Where?!" Kayden yells out as he jumps out of his seat which causes Carolina and I to laugh

"There's no pizza" Carolina says

Kayden just frowns at us with an unamused facial expression.

As soon as Carolina and I stop laughing I hear a voice outside of the door.

"Go find Thunder, I'll check on the prisoners" I hear Henry say as he twists the door knob

Shit.

Good thing I locked it.

"Hide just incase he gets the door open" I whisper to them

"There's nowhere to hide" Kayden says in a 'duh' tone

Wow, he's really not a morning person.

I look around and spot a weird crack in the wall. I walk over to the wall and look closely at the defined crack.

This doesn't look like real brick.

"Carolina, come here" I say as I reach up to feel the bricks

It doesn't feel like brick either.

It feels like clay.

I hear her slowly walk up beside me.

"Feel this" I say gesturing to the spot that I was feeling

She arches her eyebrow in question before doing as I said and becoming confused.

"Do you think that this may be a secret door?" She questions as she continues to feel the fake brick design

"There's only one way to find out" I say

Carolina and I carefully place both of our hands on the fake brick before pushing on it which causes the wall to move and reveal a lighted tunnel.

"Woah" Kayden says from behind us

I hear Henry violently bang on the door which makes its hinges rattle.

Shit.

"Come on, I'll lead the way" I say as I walk into the tunnel. Carolina and Kayden follow me shortly after.

I quickly close the tunnel door so Henry won't follow us.

"Which way?" Carolina asks as she points to the three halls in front of us

"How about each one of us take one" Kayden suggests

"No, that'll probably end up bad" I say as I think of every scary movie ever

"Let's try the middle one" I suggest.
