When Charlotte and I got through most of their defense line she lead me through another secret passage way.

"How the hell can a seventeen year old girl go through most of our defense line without any hits" I hear someone exclaim as Charlotte and I stop near a vent opening


"She's number one for a reason, plus I think that Avery girl helped her" I hear a deeper voice say

I think it's Nina and Bruce.

"Her name is Aspen" I hear a new voice say which makes my body freeze


That voice sounds just like Maddie.

"Who cares, we need to distract them, I've waited way too long for this" I hear another familiar voice say


"Is that who I think it is?" Charlotte whispers in shock

"Yep, that was Hayden" I confirm her suspicions

"Can I distract Aspen" Maddie says with a suggestive voice

"You only want to do that because you like her" Hayden says in an annoyed tone

"Like and Love are two different things, idiot" Maddie responds

"Why do you even like that bitch?" Hayden questions with an annoyed tone

"She's pretty, She smells nice, and she actually has a brain unlike you" Maddie replies effortlessly

"I swear to god, I'm going to kill her" I hear Charlotte whisper with a murderous tone

I place my hand on her shoulder to stop her from blowing out cover.

"Stop, wait a couple more minutes. They might say something that we can use against them" I suggest

"Fine" she says reluctantly

I smile and kiss her cheek so that she'll be less grumpy. When I pull away she wraps her arms around my waist and pulls me into her side possessively.

"She's stupider than you" Hayden says

"No, she's not!" Maddie whines loudly

"Shut up, both of you" Nina yells

"Here's the plan" she says

"We're going to sneak around the back of the building and sneak up on them. When we spot them attack them immediately" Bruce says authoritatively

"I'll attack Aspen" Hayden says before I hear footsteps fading away

"I'll attack Kayden" Maddie says before following after Kayden

"I'll take Charlotte, you'll take Carolina" Bruce says

"You know, this sucks" Nina suddenly says with a sad tone

"Why, sweetheart?" He questions with an equally as sad tone

"We didn't even get to tell them that they're related" she says

Wait what?!

"It's okay, they probably already figured it out" he tries to persuade her

"You're probably right" he says before I hear their footsteps fade away

I turn to look up at Charlotte and notice that she has a confused facial expression.

At least I'm not the only one.

"Related?!" She says

"Relax, they're probably talking about Carolina and you" I say

"But what if they're not not?" She questions as she looks down at me

"You don't seriously think they meant you and I" I say with a tone of disbelief

"You've met my parents" I say

"Your dad doesn't seem like the loyal type" she says seriously

"So, What are you suggesting?" I question

"What if your dad had sexual relations with my mom" She questions which causes me to step away from her

No.

No, there's no way.

This has to be a joke.

"We're not related" I say seriously

"There's no way" I finish

"You and my mother have similar eyes," she says

"You and I have the same nose" she continues

"It's just a coincidence" I say

"We're not related what so ever" I say

"But what if there's a small chance that we are?" She says as she gently grabs my hand

"Aspen, I can't just pretend like I'm not in love with you" she says seriously as a few tears fall from her eyes

"Hey, Hey, Hey" I say as I let go of her hand and place mine on her cheeks. I use my thumbs to gently wipe her tears away.

"We'll cross that bridge when we get there, until then lets go out there and show them that they messed with the wrong gang" I say which makes her smile

I see the slight dent of her dimples peek through her skin which makes me smile too.

"Okay" she says before she places a kiss on my lips.

God, I hope we aren't related.

That would be so wrong.

Plus it would ruin everything.

Charlotte is still a little bit shaken up from finding out that she could be related to one of us.

We're currently behind the brick building waiting for the perfect time to attack.

"Relax," I say as I grab a hair tie from my wrist and begin to put my hair up into a bun

"Pretend for a couple of minutes that you're an only child" I suggest

"It's not that easy" she says as she continues to watch what's happening on the battle field

"But you shouldn't be this messed up about it" I say and refill my gun

She suddenly turns to look at me with an 'are you serious' facial expression.

"Aspen, I can't be your sister" she say seriously

"What do you mean?" I ask with a confused tone

"If there is any chance that we're related, everything will change," she explains

"Sisters shouldn't feel the way I feel for you" she says with a broken voice

I place my gun in my holster before walking up to her and gently grabbing her face. She looks down at me with a vulnerable expression.

"Please elaborate on that" I say

"Sisters shouldn't want to make out, much less kiss, their sister. Sisters shouldn't want to leave hickies all over their sisters body. Sisters shouldn't want to make love with their sister." She lists off

My breath hitches at her last statement as she looks down at me with pure love in her eyes.

"That's why I can't be your sister, I'll never be able to love you like a sister, only a lover" she finishes

"I- um- uh-" I stutter out since I have no idea how to respond to her statement

"We'll finish this after we lock them up" she says with a small smirk before cocking her gun back and creeping out onto the battle field.

Fuck, this girl is crazy.

But I'm crazy about her too.

We've been at battle for what feels like an hour.

A few of Charlotte's members were wounded.

More than ninety percent of her parents members were injured or dead.

Carolina and Kayden jog up to us while heavily breathing.

"Is it done?" Charlotte questions

"Yeah, the members are heading back to the house" Carolina replies

Charlotte nods as we continue to glance around the area.

Her parents, Maddie, and Hayden are hiding somewhere.

They haven't revealed themselves yet.

"Aspen, watch out" Kayden says as he quickly and violently pushes me to the ground

I hear a gunshot ricochet in the air near my right.

"Thank you" I reply as I ignore the throbbing pain in my arm and stand up

I try to move my arm only for it to stay flat against my side.

Fuck, I probably broke it.

I quickly pull my gun out of its holster and aim for his forehead.

I miss him by a couple of inches which makes me groan in annoyance.

"Carolina, Nina is going to come after you. Kayden, Maddie is going to come after you" I tell them quickly as I turn around to face them

"Don't kill them, only injure them" I say demandingly with a glare before turning around to fire at Hayden again

Only for him to duck and miss it.

"If you kill them before we've gotten answers, let's just say it won't be a pretty sight" I say to their shocked faces before ducking avoid getting hit by a bullet

"You're just going to let her talk to me like that?!" Carolina says incredulously

"She's my equal, therefore yes" is all Charlotte responds

She walks up beside me and helps me try to immobilize our opponent.

I happen to look over and see Bruce point his gun at Charlotte's head.

I quickly turn my body in his direction and aim for his shoulder. I quickly pull the trigger and aim for both of his shoulders so that he's completely immobilized.

"Good shot" Charlotte comments as she glances over at her whining father

While Hayden is distracted by my attack on his boss Charlotte uses this opportunity to shoot Hayden.

Let's just say that she shot him in a place where the sun doesn't shine.

I hear someone groan in discomfort which causes me to turn around and face Kayden who's sitting on top of a defeated Maddie.

"Kayden, catch" I yell as I throw a pair of handcuffs to him

He catches them with ease and locks them on Maddie's wrists.

"How's your arm?" Charlotte asks with a worried tone as she glances down at it

I look down at my arm which is red and swollen.

"Very painful, I think I might've broke it" I say as I shrug my good shoulder

"How are you so calm about this?" She questions with an amused tone as she gestures to my swollen arm

"Honestly, my broken arm is the most normal thing that happened today" I say which makes her smile

"What's life without a little excitement" she teases

"Excitement and putting your life at risk are two different things" I say which makes her smile at my smart retort before grabbing my good hand and lacing our fingers together

I hear two loud gunshots which causes me to look in the direction of Carolina only to see that she shot Nina once in her thighs.

"We won" Charlotte says nonchalantly

"Whatever, lets handcuff them and put them in the van" I say and leave her side so that I can help Carolina handcuff a sobbing Nina.
