Vanessa
I smiled when I got inside, I couldn't wait to see the look of shock on their faces tomorrow when they find out that I was still alive.
I was grateful to the concubine that helped me. I knew for sure I had made a friend in this lonely place.
The concubine snuck into my room later at night when I was about to go to bed. I smiled when I saw her.
"I can't believe you were able to fool them so well, including Octavia, the first concubine. She's actually very difficult to fool," she said, laughing.
"I was able to fool her with your help, thank you so much" I said, hugging her.
" It was nothing, Vanessa. I know you would do the same if any harm came my way," she said with a smile.
That was true.
After our little whispered chit-chat, she went to her room, and I was about to lock my door to retire for the night when I heard mumbling at the door at the extreme end of the hall. I got curious and tiptoed over there to satisfy my curiosity.
"She drank the tea, I can't wait to hear the news that she's dead," a voice said.
"She deserves to die, she came into the palace and lured all the Alpha's attention to herself alone. Who does she think she is?" Another voice chirped in.
"She's nothing but a sl*t," and lots of more hurtful words were said about me. I held the sobs in my throat.
" Well, the poison in her tea is very effective and quick to act, she will be dead before tomorrow morning," that sounded like Octavia's voice.
"Nobody should ever know about our plans, else we are all dead. We can't risk it," she added threateningly.
"No one will know Octavia," they said respectfully.
"Good, you can all go to bed and expect good news by morning," she said, dismissing them for the night.
The First Concubine, Octavia, smiled, "they are falling into my trap. Soon I will get rid of them all," she laughed, and went into her chambers.
I ran to my room and closed the door as quietly as possible.
I scoffed even as I lay down on my bed. I can't wait to see the shocks on their faces any longer.

THE NEXT MORNING
I woke up and took my bath, remembering the Concubine's plan. I decided to put more effort into my appearance today to add to their disdain.
I made sure all of them were already in the dining room before I went down.
When I got to the table, gasps of shock and disbelief spread round the table except the Concubine that warned me. She was actually hiding the humor in her eyes.
I greeted them and sat down to eat.
"Vanessa, how are you feeling this morning?" Octavia managed to ask.
"I am very fine, actually. Why are you asking? Do you want anything wrong to happen to me?
" No, no," she said, shooting me a glare filled with intense hatred.
I ate quickly and left them dumbfounded and confused.
"Octavia, how is she still alive when she drank the tea last night?"
Octavia didn't reply, as she was lost in thought.
Everyone also kept quiet waiting for her next action as they knew she was already scheming something else.
Later that evening, while taking a stroll in the palace training yard where the pack's soldiers were practicing and improving their skills, I stood watching them. I wanted to try it out so I walked down to them. They stopped and bowed when they saw me. After all, I was the Alpha's concubine.
"Good morning Lady Vanessa, how may we help you?" They asked politely.
"I want to learn how to fight like you all," I said, smiling.
They all looked at me like I had said something worthy of a death sentence.
"I'm sorry, My Lady, but the Alpha's women aren't allowed to participate in rough sports like this, it's our duty to protect you," their leader said, bowing slightly.
"But I want to," I whined. I don't understand what's wrong with me learning how to defend myself. They should be happy I was trying to learn how to defend myself instead of being a burden to them.
"Lady Vanessa, the Alpha will kill me if he hears I allowed you to fight. Why don't you tell him and if he allows you, then I will teach you personally," he said, smiling.
I nodded happily. I turned back, walking in to persuade Axel about my intentions.
I was heading to his office when the guards on duty said he was in his room. I thanked them and headed for his room.
I was tensed as this was my first time going to his room. He always comes to my room, or we meet in his office, but never in his room.
Before I could knock, I heard "come in Vanessa."
How did he know I was there? Oh, I forgot werewolves' senses of smell are more heightened than ours.
I walked in, closing the door behind me.
"Ummm, sorry for disturbing you," I started softly to avoid inviting his rage.
"You didn't, what do you want, Vanessa?" He said, calmly looking at me without blinking his eyes or cutting his piercing gaze from my body. I was nervous.
"Please Alpha..."
"Vanessa, don't call me Alpha, call me by my name."
"Okay... Alp... Sorry, Axel, I saw the soldiers practicing on the training field and I wanted to join them, but they refused, saying that you won't let it, so I decided to come and tell you myself, I said, quivering.
"And they were right, you aren't going to do that. Neverr!" He said growling. I was getting annoyed to keep calm.
How dare he lock me up in this castle without letting me do anything I like!!!
"And why is that Axel?" I asked, shocking him.
He raised his brows at me like I had gone mad or something worse.
"Vanessa, don't yell at your Alpha else you will live to regret it," he said, controlling his anger.
"And what if I do? What would you do?" Kill me or lock me up in the dungeon." Well, it's better than staying here like your puppet," I said.
He growled and stood up, walking closer to me. I refuse to back down now.
"Vanessa, watch your words, or I will lose my restraint?" He warned, towering over me. Like a huge hard wall.
"I'm not scared of you, you only know how to dictate to people around you how to live their lives. But I'm not going to accept you controlling me like a puppet."
"You are an ungrateful b**ch," he cursed. I was surprised and hurt at his words, the tears I was holding ran down my eyes.
"Axel, what did you say?"
"Yeah, you heard me, I kept you in my palace, taking care and protecting you and all you could say to me was I'm a dictator."
I was hurt beyond measure and I began to leave his room when I was pulled into his string of muscular arms.
"Axel, let me go, I want to go to sleep," I said, squirming in his arms, but he was too strong for me.
"Stop struggling, Vanessa, else you will hurt yourself. I shouldn't have said all those things to you, but you really pissed me off," he said.
"Then apologize, Axel," I said dauntless. He groaned.
"You are a unique woman, fine, I'm sorry for saying such hurtful words to you Vanessa." He said, and it was obvious apologizing wasn't something he did.
He began to kiss my neck, and I was getting hot.
"Axel, stop" I said, scared.
He didn't respond, but he continued kissing my neck downwards.
