'Emily go back to your seat, Vanessa, sit down on the vacant seat," he said with his eyes daring me to disobey him. I glared at him squarely.

Our eyes staring contest accusing silence all through the table.


'Vanessa, please sit," Octavia said, trying to act like a peacemaker in front of Axel.

I broke my gaze from Axel and scoffed at her.


Turning back to Axel.

'Thank you, Alpha Axel, actually I'm not hungry anymore," I replied.

The concubines were beyond shocked, especially Emily.

'Vanessa, sit down now," Axel ordered with his booming Alpha force. Everyone at the table was frightened except me. I was very furious.

I sat down dragging the seat very far away from him. While settling down, he drew the seat closer to him with my thighs touching his.

'You will stay where I want you to stay, pumpkin," he said, smirking. I smiled tightly.

"Yes Sir," I said mockingly. He glared at me.

Breakfast was served, and I ate hungrily so I could leave his presence quickly. I choked on the juice I was drinking, and he tried to help me but I flinged his hand off me. He looked hurt and retrieved his hand, but I cared less.

Emily ran to me, handing me my glass of water which I drank from. I got better after drinking it.

'Almighty Alpha Axel, can I leave please?" I said with mockery laced in my voice.

He nodded, and I left immediately, leaving him and the dumbfounded concubines.




ONE MONTH LATER.




While training on the field alone one night, because Ferdinand was sent on an assignment by Axel.

I remembered what happened in his office and I kicked the air exasperatingly. I had been avoiding him since the breakfast incident, making sure our paths never crossed. I even ignored his summons.

I heard noises behind Axel's room. I tiptoed over to hear what was going on there. When I felt a sharp pain in my head like I was hit with something very hard, and I fell down clutching my head.

'Shit it is Lady Vanessa," a voice cursed as I gradually began losing consciousness.

'Carry her to the pack's clinic now." I heard the Soldier's Leader say hurriedly and those were the last words I heard as I slipped into unconsciousness.

I woke up feeling a terrible pain in my head and I groaned, trying to stand up, when a strong hand held me back to a lying position.

I didn't have to open my eyes or a soothsayer to know it was Axel.

The anger of the last month came surging like a flood. I flinged his hand from my body and sat up.

'Don't touch me, and I don't want to stay with you. Call someone else," I said, with annoyance.

'Vanessa, calm down, don't hurt yourself," he said, holding me in his arms before I could resist him.

All the pain I was feeling for some moments flew through the window.

'Leave me alone, or do you want to kill your bed warmer now?" he looked at me with guilt sprawled all over his face.

'I'm sorry for saying those words, I was just confused since you are claiming you don't feel any attraction towards me. It hurts when your mate denies you," he said, caressing my hair.

'Mate?" I was confused for some minutes before I remembered I had heard the ‘mate' lots from the maids in the palace, it was something like a soulmate destined for them by their Moon Goddess. So I was his mate, that was why he was always annoyed if I said I didn't feel any bond between us.

'How? And you were treating me like trash."

'I thought you rejected me, I couldn't come to the fact that my own mate was rejecting me, it was like a part of my soul was snatched. You have no idea how long I waited for you. I was shocked," he said, and I felt bad for him.

'But I didn't reject you, I didn't feel anything at that time," I whispered soothingly.

" I know now, so do you forgive me?" He asked, looking at me with hope in his eyes.

"Not really," I said. He smirked.

"You will," he said, on my neck, sending shivers down my spine. I shuddered and he chuckled.

"Now, pumpkin, what were you doing outside that late?" I hesitated but spoke out.

' I was training."

'You were what? I told you not to," he said. I peered at his face to see if I would see any trace of annoyance, but I saw his eyes filled with concern.

'I don't want to be a liability. Please can I continue training?" I pleaded.

'Mi pequeño compañero testarudo, ¿qué haría contigo?. ( My little stubborn mate, what would I do with you?). He said. Axel, speaking Spanish, was doing something wild to my body.

'Fine, you are allowed to train, but only if I'm your coach. I don't want you to get injured, he said. I accepted immediately, at least I get to train more, though I felt bad for Ferdinand.

" Thank you," I said, peaking at his cheeks.

"Pumpkin, don't arouse my wolf else you will have issues walking for some days," he said, breathing down my neck. I flinched.

"Pumpkin, I'm teasing, I won't do anything to you until you beg for it," he said, teasing me more. I laughed.

"You look more beautiful when you laugh," he said, looking at me adorably. I giggled.

A knock in his room stopped our romantic moment. Axel groaned.

'Ignore it," he said, bending to kiss me.

'Attend to it, it might be important," I said persuasively.

'Who is it?" He asked, annoyed.

'Sorry Alpha, it's me Damian, your Uncle is waiting for you in the throne room."

Axel punched the wall, creating a hole in it. I rushed and embraced him and I felt him relax.

'I'm getting fed up with his problems, I want to get rid of him forever."
