'What happened to them and how did they die? Axel asked.

If their death was caused by someone in the palace then that means we aren't safe.


"Nobody can tell, they just slept and didn't wake up now," Emily explained, still sobbing. I hugged her in a tight embrace.

'Do you notice any complications like symptoms?"


"I only saw Hannah before she died, she was complaining that she was having difficulty in breathing and coughing '

'Everything would be fine, trust me, be strong for Hannah." I whispered into her ears.

'No, it's not, this wasn't our plan, why would she leave me?" She sobbed. I could see she was the most affected one.

'It's okay , Emily. I know you love Hannah so much , but she won't be happy seeing her best friend cry for her ,would she? I asked her.

She shook her head.

'Now clean your tears and be strong for Hannah, she loved you as much as you love her."

She nodded and cleaned her eyes. I smiled at her.

The guards took the bodies out, I took Emily to her room.

The pack doctor came and examined the bodies and he came back to report to Axel.

'I should leave you to have your privacy," I said to Axel.

"No, stay here please," Axel said to me, looking at me pleading with his eyes and I nodded, holding his hands to make him relax. The pack doctor smiled slightly and quickly smoldered it to avoid getting Axel annoyed.

'So what were your examinations Steven?" Axel asked harshly.

' Umm should I briefly explain or I should give you the full report, Your highness?" Steven asked stuttering and I smiled at him to ease his nervousness, he smiled back.

"Full," was all Axel said.

"Your highness, was there any misunderstanding recently in the palace?" Axel started scrutinizing him.

'I'm sorry Your highness, I didn't mean to probe the royal's personal life, but my findings promted me to, you see, they were poisoned and the symptoms showed it to be arsenic." I looked at him in surprise.

"What's the effects of Arsenic?" I asked

'Well Abdominal pain, slight vomiting, discoloration of skin though it only occurs in large doses, diabetes, headache, metallic taste in the mouth, partial paralysis, respiratory effects, lightheadedness, weakness, chest pain, cou… ."

"You are drifting from the matter on the ground," Axel interrupted.

"I'm sorry, I got curious and distracted him with my questions," I said to thwart his irritation from the innocent doctor.

'They were poisoned with Arsenic, but we would have to conduct an autopsy on them to be medically verified. Steven said.

'Fine do whatever you have to do."

I went back to Axel when I was done coaxing Emily to sleep.

Axel was staring out of the window thinking and drinking Whisky. I was feeling sad for him too, being Alpha isn't easy with the whole pack's problem.

I walked to him and held him to make him relax and I felt him breathe out and he relaxed.

'Axel, don't drink that," I said, collecting the bottle of whiskey from him.

'I know you are feeling annoyed because of what happened to them, but it's not your fault , don't drown yourself with alcohol."

"Rather you need a sane mind so you can know how to go about the murder case and bring the killer or killers," I added.

"You should be my beta, because you give the best advice a man can ask for," he said and I smiled slightly.

Later that evening I was walking through the garden when I saw a weird looking paper on the floor beneath Sarah's window. I picked it up and it was a powdery substance, sniffling it and it choked me, wait isn't this? Oh my God I hid it in my dress and ran to Axel.

I opened the door and Axel was in a meeting with an Alpha.

'I'm so sorry, I didn't know you were with someone," I said moving back.

"No come in, you must be Vanessa, for you to come in the way you did, then there must be something important you have to tell him. I will step outside to give you both some privacy," he said nice and politely.

"You don't have to, I can wait," I refused and made to leave.

'I insist, beside, I'm Wales, nice meeting you. You look more beautiful than how Axel described you to be," he said kissing my hand.

Axel growled lightly, and I knew Wales had done it intentionally to annoy Axel.

I pulled my hand so I won't annoy Axel, Wales chuckled and Axel smiled at my actions.

'Seems there's something going between the both of you, but being the inquisitive Wolf I am, I will figure it out," Wales said laughing and left.

Axel stood up and came close to me because I was still staring at the place Wales walked through.

'What's wrong with you, pumpkin?" He asked, tugging my hands slightly. I quickly remembered why I was here . I began raising my clothes to remove the arsenic where I hid it.

"You miss my body?" Axel said, smirking and misunderstanding my actions.

" No…I mean yes, no Axel," I screamed mortified. He chuckled and I handed the arsenic to him.

'What is this?" He asked surprised as to why I was giving him a wrapped item.

'That's the arsenic he was talking about, 'I said, his eyes opened wide in shock.

'So it was true, I thought he was out of his mind when he was saying that," he admitted.

'I believed him, but who would do something like that?" I asked sadly.

"I think I know what we would do," he said.

' What's your plan?" I asked him.

'Come closer," I did.

" Oh," I said after he told me what he wanted to do.

"That's wonderful," I was saying when she barged into his office.

Axel growled at her, and she went down on her knees.

'I know who killed Hannah and Sarah," she dropped the bombshell.
