Kael's POV

I knew it was the magical staff, and I knew it was Axel.


'Where did you keep her?" He growled, and I was very furious at him but I couldn't overpower the effect of the magical staff until it released me an hour later. I groaned at the thought he was taking her back.

"Axel…?" Vanessa called and Axel raised his head and caught her as she ran to him.

'I missed you so much, Pumpkin, it's been days."


He said holding her tightly, and gently at the same time. I looked away angrily. He smirked at me.

'I did too, are you going to hurt him?" She asked, looking worriedly as he dropped her, and walked closer to me with anger in his eyes.



"Just a little."


"No, don't , Axel, don't hit him anymore, he's already in pain.


"Even though I was feeling bad that he was taking her away from me, I was happy that my mate was standing up for me, and I smiled contently.

Axel puffed, calming himself and turning back, he went back to carry her.

He lifted her on his shoulders, and she was facing me,then she waved at me. I smiled at her, promising myself that I would take her back no matter what it takes me.


VANESSA P.O.V

I was very happy seeing Axel because I knew I was going back home, but I was feeling bad leaving Kael in a situation like that.

'Axel don't leave him like that, he is hurting." Axel groaned and nodded.

'Fine, but that would be after I have taken you back home," he said, and I felt much better.

When we went back, I was very happy to feel the hot temperature once again, I learnt that I was away for two weeks and it was only some hours there, meaning Kael was right when he said I wouldn't understand.

'I miss you so much pumpkin," he said and I could see he haven't been sleeping well and he hadn't shaved in a while.

'I'm sorry for making you worr….." I was interrupted by his lips on mine.

"Shush, it's not your fault, but that pesky and annoying cold-blooded viper." He used the same words Kael had used on him, and I smiled to myself, they had so much in common.

A knock sounded on the door and he broke the kiss cursing, and I laughed.

Opening the door and Emily's face came in view.

'Umm, Alpha, can I talk to Vanessa, please?" She begged, and Axel groaned leaving the room without saying anything to her.

She closed the door smiling at me, I was doing same.

'Vanessa, I was so worried about you, I thought Axel would never bring you back," she said with tears gleaming in her eyes.

'I miss you more, Emily. I thought I would never see any of your faces, but I'm back."

"Yes you are ,how are you now ,did he hurt you?" She asked looking at me.

"No, he didn't and he can't."

"So, tell me how was it over there?" She asked curiously. And I smiled.

"Very cold, do you know what?" I stopped to heighten her curiosity.

She looked at me expectantly, "what?"

"I only stayed there for some hours," I said, and she looked at me in surprise.

"How? But you were gone for two weeks, three days, and fourteen hours." She said with a precision I never knew she had.

"You counted the hours too?" I asked raising my eyebrows at her.

'Yes, I told you I missed you a lot."

'Now, I actually believe you, Emily, thank you," I said hugging her.

'So what interesting things happened here while I was gone?" I asked curiously.

"Well, two concubines died again, and Frinda ran away, but she was caught and brought back, the Alpha asked her to be freed.

'He did, why?"

'I don't know why, but he have changed a lot since you came here."


'Oh, so much did really happen," I said sadly.

"Yes, and the Alpha wasn't himself, you would think he had lost his mate from the way he was acting." She said I smiled lightly.


We chatted for a little more and she left, immediately she did another knock sounded on my door, I went to the door, expecting to see Emily when Damian's beautiful mate was staring back at me with a big smile on her face.

"My lady, you are fine, I'm very happy," she said touching me to convince herself.

'Yes, I am," I said smiling back at her as I ushered her in.


'Lady Vanessa, I was worried and I prayed to the Moon Goddess to keep you safe," she said wiping her tears away.


"Avery, don't cry please," I said hugging her and she nodded and straightened herself.

'Sorry for that, I know you don't know me that much but you were actually one of the kindest persons I know in this pack, and I wasn't able to cope with the fact that I lost you, sorry lady Vanessa," she said smiling.

'Stop calling me Lady Vanessa, it's Vanessa, and it's an order Avery," I said as she was about to argue. She smiled.

'Yes Lad.. sorry Vanessa, are you hungry, I can prepare something for you." she asked.

"Actually, I am, but we will cook together, it's not your duty to cook for me, you aren't a hired chef."

"But I want to," she insisted.

"Fine, but I'm coming with you."

"No lad.. Vanessa you will stay here and rest, I will be right back."

'Avery, I want to help you, I'm very bored here and I don't have anything to do," I said and I'm sure I sounded like a child.

"No, Vanessa you will stay here." With that she left immediately before I could argue with her.

I smiled and walked back to the bed, sitting on it, I smiled to myself.


'We meet again, but this time alone, Vanessa."

And I snapped my head towards the direction of the voice.

'You look too beautiful to be real."
