VANESSA P.O.V

'Long time no see," a voice said, and the blindfold was removed, and I blinked my eyes to get used to the brightness.

I turned towards the direction of the voice, and I gasped when I saw him.

'Yeah, I expected that reaction from you. Come in," he said, holding me. I wasn't scared of him, but I was surprised to see him. I followed him inside a very beautiful house but smaller than Axel's mansion.

'Please sit down and eat, Rhea, you look famished," he said, smirking.

His name is Adam, he helped me escape at the onset in exchange that I would help him steal a scroll that contains the pack's secrets.

I ate in silence, looking at him while the smile still plastered on his face. I pushed back the plates when I was tired of his constant glares.

'Are you sure you are filled? Eat some more," Adam said, peering into my face. I looked away.

'I'm filled. Thank you," I muttered.

'If you say so," he said, waving his hands, and a maid rushed to the table and picked up the plates.

' Follow me Rhea, I will take you back to your room, you need to rest well because we have a very important discussion." I nodded knowing the discussion was about why I wasn't able to complete my mission.

I followed him quietly, he opened a door and ushered me in.

'This is your room. If you need anything make sure you ring that bell on the right side of the bed to notify the maids, and the one at the left side whenever an intruder comes here," Adam said, and I made a mental note not to ever touch that bell.

'I will be on my way," he said, I nodded and locked the door behind him.

The next morning, I woke up early as I couldn't sleep with the thoughts of Axel haunting and pricking my conscience. I cried all through the night, looking at my appearance in the mirror, my eyes were puffy and red. I couldn't let Adam see that I was crying because of Axel, else he would be greatly annoyed at me.

I placed a stainless spoon over my eyes to remove the puffiness. It reduced gradually and I breathed out in relief.

I stretched my body and went down the bathroom to shower. After showering, I arranged my bed and went down.

'Good morning, Rhea." Rachel greeted me smiling and I smiled back.

Yeah, I know you have been hearing Rhea not Vanessa since I got here, and you are getting confused, the thing is that my real name wasn't Vanessa, I chose it when Adam told me to change my name. It was the name of my late adopted mother.

'Good morning, Rachel," I replied. She was Adam's fiancee, a very good friend of mine before I left for the Blood Moon pack.

'Good morning Sir." I bowed when I saw Adam. He smiled. You may be thinking he's always smiling so he's a good man. Adam is far from a good man. He is the devil on earth, he would stop at nothing to get whatsoever he wants. He uses his smile to mask the darkness that lurks in him.

'Good morning little one, eat up, we need to talk."

"Don't worry, I will eat when we are done talking."

"Are you sure, it might take a while."

"Yes sir," I replied nodding affirmatively.

'Fine, let's go somewhere more conducive and private like my study," he replied.

Following him quietly, I tried to calm my nerves because he wouldn't spare me if he heard all the mistakes I made. He opened the door and I locked it behind me

'Sit down," he said authoritatively. His agey side crepting.

"So, where's the scroll?" He said with his back facing me as he looked out of his window. This was his normal habit whenever he was trying to hold himself.

"I didn't get it," I replied. If I have got anything to avoid Adam's anger, it was to answer his question directly without beating around the bush.

'I know, I was expecting you would give me any cock and bull story, you just reduce my anger towards you by some distance." I nodded.

'So why didn't you? That was our plan, you were supposed to make him fall in love with you so you would be able to steal the scroll. Why did you fail me?"

'I'm sorry, but I fell in love with him too at the cause of the plan."

"You what?" He said, swirling his chair around fuming. I looked away.

'How could you let your emotions get in our plan, and I was hoping you would be fine but you were letting yourself fall in with someone that killed your parents. Where is that Rhea that wanted to avenge her parent's death by all means?" He said, swirling back, looking away from me in disgust.

"I'm sorry, I didn't plan to go astray, but I fell hard in love with him. I couldn't stop myself. There are bad werewolves, but Axel wasn't like them." I defended Axel.

I wished he did that same for me at the ceremony but he left me the moment I needed him most and it hurts.

'You sound so stupid, you will let him come in the way of avenging your parents death? Then what about me? I lost my wife, my two daughters and parents to him, and you couldn't do anything," he said, angrily and I could feel the pain in his voice

'I'm very sorry." I sobbed.

"Keep it to yourself Rhea," he said, standing up and began leaving the room, he stopped at the door.

'I'm disappointed in you, but I'm sure your parents would be more disappointed with you wherever they are. You failed them," he said, and slammed the door.

I ran to my room, locked it and sobbed. He was right, my parents would have never rested until they got revenge if I was the one that got killed, but I wasn't doing the same for them.
