AXEL P.O.V

I went back to the palace sulkily in my wolf form, with Damian trailing behind me. The pain in my chest was gradually reducing and my breathing steadied.


The wolves on duty bowed and barred their necks in submission, I didn't even spare them a glance as I was lost in my thoughts. My moody self rubbed off on them as they howled sadly.

I went to my study to have some time alone but Damian was still following. I know it was his duty as the Beta of the pack, but I wanted to be alone and I needed answers at the same time.

'Describe the man. I want to know what he looks like?"


'I couldn't see his appearance but he had this offensive smell like that of a rogue vampire and his voice was deep." I nodded with my hands on my chin, I don't know but I just feel like I know him, but I wasn't sure. I was concerned about my mate. I haven't told anyone that she's my mate but I know it's quite plain now.

'Her name is not Vanessa?" I asked, Damian nodded.


"Yes, it's Rhea. I can't seem to come to the fact that our Luna is staying with such a man who can kill her in a blink of an eye."

'And the bad part is that she can't leave him," Damian said, shaking his head as he looked out of the window in my study.

'I'm going to find her, take me there Damian." And I rose walking to the door.

'You don't understand. He injected a substance in her body that revolted against our contact with her. Going to her will cause her more harm than good, besides he also disappeared with her. We checked the whole house but they weren't found," he explained and I growled.

'Where was she shot? And how many times?" I asked, mentally saving the information for when I met the Adam so I will hurt him the same way he hurt my mate.

'In her thighs, and only once."

Lucian was fighting to take control so he could go to his mate and take revenge for her, but I suppressed him and when I opened my eyes my office was scattered with a stunned looking Damian.


'Are you okay now?" He asked, as he made to start picking up the files on the floor.

'Don't do that, you are my Beta and not the palace maid. Call a maid to do it." He nodded and rang a bell that summoned the maid in their quarters.

Irene walked in holding a mop and bucket and went to work immediately. She was already used to my office being like this anytime Lucian tries to gain control forcefully.


'Should I get you something to drink?"

'No Damian, I'm fine," I said, standing up on my feet.

I walked out of the study with Damian following me like I was a little child. I stopped and turned back facing him.

'Why are you following me?"

'So that you won't go back to drinking, we need to find a solution for this and it can not be done with a drunken mind."

I scoffed and went into my room, shutting the door at his face. He began knocking on my door and I frowned.

"Alpha, hope you won't drink any alcohol?" He asked from the other side of the door.

I growled in response and he kept on knocking.

'Alpha, tell me you will not and I will stop pestering you," he insisted.

'I won't Damian, go away now." I answered. There was silence, meaning he had left. Oh good riddance. I stood up and went inside my secret chamber taking out a bottle of whiskey and I began taking in huge gulps.

'Alpha, open the door, you are drinking and I can smell it ."

"I'm your Alpha and you will do as you are told. Now leave me whatever I do is my business and not yours."

Damian was quiet and I continued drinking, soon he opened the door and I looked at him in surprise.

'Axel, you need to stop doing this, drinking won't soothe the pain in your heart forever it's only momentarily.

Beside, whatever you do is my business because you're my Alpha and my best friend. And as your friend, I'm very sure Luna won't like it if she knows you have been drinking," Damian said. I looked at him nodding. He was right though. I gave the bottle to him.

'Where did you keep the rest?" He asked searching with his eyes. I pointed to my bed and he looked at me questionably.

'There's nothing on the bed." I rolled my eyes and stood up kicking the bottom of the bed and it opened, exposing my hidden wine cabinet. I had it created the day I chased Vanessa.

'Really, Alpha you have this? That means you have been drinking at leisure. Axel you are really hurting yourself," he said, emptying the cabinet off bottles of wine.

He was silent throughout his self inflicted task, I lay on the couch shutting my eyes.

Suddenly I heard a loud ear piercing howl and I stood up. Damian rose to his feet too. The danger alert drums began to drum and I knew it's a rogue attack.

I began to leave my room. Damian howled and the pack soldiers howled back in response.

'Which part of the pack territory are the rogues attacking from?"

'West," Damian said after mindlinking their captain and we dashed towards there with the pack's soldiers following us.

'I wonder who gave them audacity to dare lay an attack on my pack, they will never see another day. I was boiling with anger as I increased my speed.

We stopped when we got to where the rogues were and I growled out my Alpha growl which shook the whole surrounding and some of them retreated but they immediately moved forward trying to brave up. Well, that's their loss and my gain because I have been craving for some actions since Vanessa left.
