I followed him, we walked in silence on his way to his office. My heart was beating fast in fear. Does he know anything about what happened in the library?

I opened the door to his office and he walked in, and I made to close the door.

'Gabriel, come in," he said, and I entered his office, closing the door behind me. I stood in front of him.

'Gabriel, I want nothing but the truth. Where were you last night?" He asked, looking out of the window, and I gulped.

'Outside the servant's quarters," I said honestly.

'And what were you doing out there?"

'I was mediating alone." Still the truth.

'Did you see anyone breaking into the library?" I was quiet, and I bowed my head.

'I believe you heard my question or are you silent because you are the one that broke into the library?"

'No, I wasn't the one that broke in, but I know who broke in. I'm sorry, your highness." I bowed my head.

'Then who did?" He asked. I could feel his anger radiating.

'Andrew, and I followed him, but I had to go back when I made a noise, and he noticed me. I woke up early to inform you, but on my way to your office, the Gamma stopped me and asked me to join others in the punishment," I admitted, putting my head down. He didn't say anything for a long time, and I looked up, and I gasped when I saw him standing in front of me.

'And who is Andrew?" He asked, fuming.

'He is a guard. One of your bodyguards, to be precise."

'Was he alone or was someone there with him?"

'He was with a lady, and he called her Kiara and I think she's his mate."

'Did you listen to their conversation?" He asked, I breathed out.

'Yes, they were looking for a scroll, and they were sent by your uncle. They have searched your office, but they couldn't find it," I said, wishing he would give me a hint about where the scroll was. He chuckled and I looked at him confusedly.

'He is really ambitious. Why would he think I would keep the scroll there when I know everyone would suspect the most hidden place is where the scroll is likely to be."

Oh, that means he kept the scroll somewhere obvious, but where? I couldn't ask him because it would be very suspicious. He chuckled and I looked at him puzzled.

'I know what to do. My uncle is getting more sneaky as the day progresses and I need to stop him else he will do something very drastic." I was quite lost in my thoughts.

'Your highness, I have a suggestion. Can I say it?" I asked him.

'Your last suggestion was very helpful. So, yes you can," he replied.

'Why don't you keep your idea to only Damian because he is more trustworthy. Tell the pack something else and do the opposite, so it would confuse your Uncle's informants." I stopped, waiting for his reply, but he was quiet, and I looked at him. His eyes were closed, I went closer to him and I felt something in me loosen. I knew it was the shape-shifting effect, and it was diminishing because I came close to him. I pulled back immediately, and he snapped his eyes open. Standing up and looking out of his window as if searching for someone, he was growling, getting me scared. I was confused by his behavior because it was strange and scary. Is he alright?

'Your highness, are you okay?" I asked, trying to peer into his face, but he didn't respond, and I was more confused.

'Your highness?" I called out more loudly. And he turned around this time looking at me.

'I felt her for an instant, and it stopped, but I'm still feeling her, but it's too dim, and it seems like something is stopping me from getting her scent fully," he said, plopping himself down on a chair. I stiffened, composing myself, looking back at him.

'Are you sure you weren't hallucinating?" I said, trying to pull him away from the fact that he could feel and perceive me now. I need to get the scroll fast or else the shape-shifting effect will wear out, and I'm sure he would never let go this time around.

'I know what I felt. And I am sure she is around here, and I will intensify the search for her. I can't wait to have her back in my arms and never to let go." I gulped at his statement.

'Have you checked on Damian, your highness? I heard his mate had a miscarriage," I reminded him.

'No I haven't. I have been so busy."

'Then call him now and charge him up. He is your friend and your Beta. It would make him know you have him in your heart."

'How old are you really? You don't talk like your age," he said, picking up his phone and he called Damian. After speaking with him, he looked up.

'Close the window, it's getting too windy in here." I hesitated, knowing that if I got closer to him, the effect would wear off more. He raised his brows at me and I nodded, moving to the window very far from him.

Luckily, a knock landed on the door and I muttered thank you to the person that knocked. Walking to the door, I opened it and it was Octavia. I smiled subconsciously and she smiled back nicely.

'Hi Gabriel is the Alpha in?" She asked, smiling sweetly at me.

'Yes, Lady Octavia," I replied, opening the door widely to let her in.

Seems the person I thought was a devil wasn't that bad but a victim of circumstance.

When I remembered I wasn't in my natural body and I bowed again and left his office.

'Your highness. I want to leave," Octavia said, and I gasped.

Why would she want to leave? I thought she loved it here.
