Chapter 35 I will not go easy.
Edwin's mood dropped. He did not talk to Noah nor Carissa and his sudden silence was not a good sign. All the time his eyes were stuck at the door. He wanted to see her again. Maybe I wanted to apologize. His heart was lingering around only one person. He had spent countless sleepless nights because of her and now when she is here his heart and mind is unable to accept the reality. He wants to see her again and again to realize this is not a dream, this is not his imagination. It is happening. She is in front of him. He can touch her, can feel the warmth of her body. He wants to touch the pink flower on her temple and wants to listen about the sadness in her eyes. Her eyes always keep him on the edge. She doesn't speak much but he can hear her eyes screaming. 'What's wrong with me?' He snapped out of the thoughts but still he was not able to accept the feelings he feels for her.
Meanwhile, Celeste begged another employee to go and serve them. She wanted to avoid him at all the cost but no one was going to help her. The president is here, what if they make a mistake? Then this will be the last day of their jobs. Everyone apologized to her. In the end, left with no choice, Celeste held the trolley and took a deep breath. She was feeling vulnerable inside but tried to act strong as always. Today, her will power and determination was not as strong as before. She wanted to crumble down and cry her eyes out. 'No, I cannot let them see me crying'. She slapped herself in the thoughts and with utter difficulty pulled herself together. Life has always been cruel and ruthless with her. Whenever she starts to become strong it would trample on her, leaving her breathless making her unable to get up.
Finally, she came with the appetizer. Celeste professionally severed Noah and Carissa. Carissa was so happy to find another friend. She kept on looking at her with love. This time if life was exhausting her mentally then it was giving her a friend too on which she can rely on. Who can offer her a shoulder to cry? and in front of Carissa she doesn't have to pretend. She can be herself and share the sorrow inside.
When Celeste was serving Edwin soup, her hands trembled and the hot soup fell on her hands then on his thighs. Edwin did not care about scalding himself but he reflexively held her hand.
"WHY ARE YOU SO CARELESS?" Edwin shouted in anger.
Celeste was perplexed to see her hand in his hand. She did not expect this to happen.
Carissa hated Edwin, seeing the situations she was more infuriated. Carissa snatched her hand from his grip. "Leave her". She glared at him.
"She is going with me now". Carissa informed Noah so Celeste would not have any problem at the workplace.
Carissa dragged Celeste out of the room, leaving the men confused. But both of them stayed quiet and did not object to her decision. From the reception Carissa got a first aid box, and washed her hand with cold water. There was a complete silence between them. Celeste was letting her do what she was doing without interrupting her.
They went to the garden, and Carissa applied an ointment on her beautiful fair hand. When she was done giving treatment, Carissa finally spoke, "What are you doing here Celeste? You haven't landed a job yet?" Carissa is well aware of her financial situation. She had always worked hard to meet the ends. It was not hard for her to know what she was going through.
"No I have a job. I am working here as a part timer as I have a lot of free time". Carissa knew she was lying. No one works just because they have free time and leisure time is not for work. She can relax and have fun but why as a part timer....
"You can tell me Celeste. If you have a job then I am sure the reason for working here as a part timer is a complete lie." She caught her red handed and Celeste was embarrassed to tell her in what situation she is. Her pride does not allow her.
"Why don't you believe me, Carissa?" Celeste was frustrated. She wanted to run away from this sudden interrogation.
"You are my savior. Helping you is like helping myself. And on the top of that I promised you 4 years ago I will do anything for you. You know how much money I have spent in all these years to find you." Carissa was making her feel a little guilty. In the end she has a kind heart and this can be used well against her.
Celeste was in a bind, whether she should tell her about Ian's situation or not. But at that moment she remembered, with whom Carissa is here for dinner.
Instead of talking about her situation, she asked an unexpected question, "Can you tell me something?"
"Yeah of course. You don't need permission".
"Why are you here with that man?" She did not take his name.
"What are you talking about Celeste?" There were two men, about Noah, she completely trusts him but the other one is a bastard and she cannot guarantee anything about him. "You are talking about Edwin, right?" Carissa answered her own question.
Celeste nodded in affirmation.
"He is a total bastard. I came here to teach him a lesson today but coincidentally I met you". Carissa paused as she remembered something, "What is going on between you two? Why were you so nervous to see him?" Carissa noticed her eyes getting darker.
"It's a long story that I don't want to talk about." He is becoming her weakness which she doesn't want to reveal in front of anyone.
"Okay. Forget him. How's your brother?" Carissa asked another heart wrenching question.
Celeste clenched her fist and her eyes looked guilty. She knows how much Carissa loves her and her brother. I was fine to tell her. "Carissa, actually….."
Celeste did not complete her sentence. Her sense of ego and sense of responsibility overpowered her. All of their lives they have depended and relied just on themselves. Asking for favors was not her thing. But she promised Ian.
"Why are you hesitating about Celeste? I think of you as my sister. Now, hurry up and tell me".
"Ian is in the jail….." Celeste closed her eyes and told her about the whole incident.
"You should have told me sooner. I will look into the matter and see what I can do. Give me your contact number I will talk to you".
They exchange their phone numbers.
Meanwhile, in the room, Noah and Edwin were quiet. Noah glanced at him coldly, his voice was more chilling, "I don't know what is going on nor I am interested. But there is one thing for sure she is someone important for Carissa, if you dared to do anything I will not go easy on you just because you are my friend for 25 years".
He gave him his ultimatum and coolly left the dazed Edwin.
