Chapter 60 Edwin loves her.
After the party at White's residence, Celeste did not contact Carissa. She wanted to be alone and give some time to her own self. She needed time to calm the storms which were rising inside her. He makes her afraid and at the same time he is the only one that makes her strong and the one who makes her want to break all the boundaries. She did not change her clothes and just plopped on the bed. Celeste can still feel his touch. Her skin was burning because of him. She wants to try everything with him but he does not give her assurance. Otherwise, she will be the only one who will cry because of him in the end. She cannot trust the playboy who is ready to seduce all those that come in his way.
Ian's matter was solved and with all the savings and by getting some loan out of the bank she has sent him to Australia. Otherwise, she will be scared to let him go outside again.
Celeste closed her eyes and wrapped her hands around her body as a comforting gesture. Soon, the slumber took over giving her a way to run away from all the insecurities and loneliness.
Meanwhile, Edwin entered his house after driving uselessly and recklessly. His father was sitting in the living room. The old man frowned looking at him.
"Have you seen the time? Why are you coming home in the middle of night?" He started to lecture her.
Edwin was already like a time bomb and due to the nagging he was ready to set off, "I am not a kid. You don't have to question me like this again". He spoke calmly while gritting his teeth so hard that a muscle on his face twitched making him look like a wild lion.
"Edwin, behave yourself. In what tone are you talking with me?" His father fumed hard due to anger, "Next time while talking with anyone make sure to know who that person is". He was giving him a lecture. "I can't believe I am saying such a thing to my 30 years old son when it should be 3 years old". His father murmured to his own self.
He was scolding him but Edwin thought like he had squeezed his weakest nerve. Because he had just talked rudely with Celeste. His father is right, next time before talking he should see who the next party is.
"Now, stop standing here and go to sleep. And let me sleep too". He just cannot rest assured because of his only son. His heart is always anxious. On the top of that he is a pilot and does not come home for months which pass like an eternity.
The old man was about to leave after giving a massive sigh of relief but the words of Edwin made him stop in his tracks, "I am sorry Dad". His eyes were glued to the ground which he was clenching his fists hard. Edwin was angry and frustrated at himself. He is not able to comprehend why he pushes away all those people whom he lives the most in his life and in the end he will be left with nothing. He is lucky enough and he should be thankful for this fact that they haven't left him yet. Otherwise, he has done everything in his power to make them leave.
Besides, his father wants to say these words to her too. The wrinkles on his father's face got deeper as he knitted his brows together. "What did you say?" He could not believe his own ears. It was more like an 8th miracle in the world.
"I am sorry". Edwin calmly repeated again but this he was looking in his haggard eyes and for a minute he was guilty and ashamed at himself. "Since the day I came into this world, all I have done is to create trouble for you. Because of me your wife left you". Edwin did not use the word mother as it disgusts him. Whenever the topic of his mother arises, he always calls her a woman or the Ex-wife. His brown pupils were getting filled with moisture, "I am sorry for everything. I am sorry for shouting at you and I am sorry for being the reason behind your loneliness. I am a jerk and I don't deserve to exist in this world." He was telling him his heart.
His last sentence was very hurtful. No matter how disobedient your children are, you still pray for their well being and a parent never thinks like they don't deserve to exist.
"What are you talking about, Edwin? Are you drunk?" Because it was hard enough to open up being sober and all of these words were directed towards her too. He wanted her to know through what hell he is going right now. He smiled faintly, "You don't believe me. Leave it. I am going to sleep. Good night". He wiped the traces of sadness around the eyes.
His father was not going to end this talk here, like this- without any conclusion.
"Edwin, is something up? You can share it with me". He asked as gently as possible. Edwin was actually scaring him out of his wits.
"I am a bastard who makes you cry and...." he stopped saying anything further and massaged his temples furiously. But his father guessed the rest of the sentence. His lips curled upward. Now his son has grown up. He is conscious of himself, his actions. "Have some rest and try to resolve the matter as soon as possible don't drag it for too long". He tapped on his shoulder before leaving for the bedroom.
Edwin threw a rough punch out of frustration on the wall and slammed the door of his bedroom. He needed to sort out his thoughts, so his father did not pester anymore.
Edwin, stood underneath the shower God knows for how long. Warm water continued to fall through his body and comforted him.
He changed into a trouser and a t-shirt and plopped in the bed. He is not able to erase the scene of slapping her. Edwin shut his eyes tightly and tried to sleep.
After struggling for a long time he finally went into the deep slumber.
