Esme pulled her in a bear hug. Carissa doesn't know the reason but she always feels so close and familiar to her. She wished her parents in law a happy anniversary.

But her eyes were not leaving him at all. Celeste glanced from the corner of her eye and chuckled, "Missing him? You should go to him instead of eating him out with your eyes".


Carissa sighed, "This is what I can't afford to do. I feel I am not good enough for him. I am stigmatized. What if my past becomes a hurdle for him? I am afraid to even think about it". She shared the darkest part of her life.

"I think you are wrong here. He loves you… he married you after knowing everything then why are you still hung on this thought? Stop thinking foolishly. You are already his, don't make his wait for too long. I am afraid you will lose him just because of your past that does not hold power anymore".

Celeste's words made her stunned. For some unknown reasons today Celeste was talking about those things which are a question mark for her. As a result all of those unspoken questions were answered.


"If I keep pushing him away one day he will really become fed up with me. I can't bear to lose him. He is the only thing I have. MY EVERYTHING". Carissa even hated the thought of living without him.

"Carissa, my daughter, you are here". Mr. Zak said from a distance.


Two witches were also accompanying her father. Her lips twitched but she continued to wear a beautiful smile as always and greeted her father.

Before Mrs. Zak and Jia could say anything she saw Noah coming towards them in long strides. She was grateful to him. Because no matter what he was never going to leave her alone in this den of lions. Moisture filled up her eyes. She closed them to dissipate the droplets forming.

"Long time no see, Mr. Zak". Noah spoke and extended his arm.

"Yeah it's been quite some time. I am very thankful to you". He spoke. "I can see you have really changed this naughty kid of mine." Mr. Zak pointed towards Carissa.

Noah looked in her eyes and said, "I told you even last time, she is doing fine you don't have to be worried about her". She is doing fine in every way except their relationship.

"This is all because of you. In the past, she has already made me quite worried." He complained.

"Dad can you stop scolding me now?" She doesn't like being exposed in front of her husband.

Mrs. Zak and Jia were looking at them quietly. They thought Carissa was just messing around, who thought she would be so serious about business. She is becoming a great threat to them now.

"Okay, okay I will stay quiet now".

Carissa released a sigh of relief. The Zak family left to meet the other people. The purpose of these parties is highly business. People don't let any chance slip away.

Only Noah and Carissa were left. He looked at her from head to toe. She was looking stunning, he wanted to tell her how beautiful she is…. But on the other hand he wanted to stay quiet.

Carissa looked in his eyes and he was doing the same. None of them was daring to speak first. "Is there some kind of staring competition going on here?" Hani spoke from the side making them break the contact.

Noah clenched his teeth tightly and a muscle on his face twitched. He left the ladies alone and walked away. "Had a fight?" Hani asked while looking at Noah leaving.

Carissa sighed, "I just can't understand him. We agreed to keep our marriage a secret but now he is not talking to me because of this reason". Carissa whispered to Hani, making sure no one can hear their conversation.

Hani analyzed the situation, "and what is your reason for hiding it?" She questioned back.

Carissa was surprised to hear her question. Really what is her reason. At first she thought that it is better not to tell because of her stepmother. But why-why because of some stranger she is making him suffer.

"In this matter I am on Noah's side. If you are reluctant to go public, then he will surely think that you have not accepted him as a husband". Hani hit the last nail in the coffin.

Celeste said the same thing that she is wrong and Hani is also on his side. This concludes that she is the one really wrong here.

"Think about it seriously, okay?" Hani tapped her shoulder.

Carissa nodded in affirmation. She looked at his back, even in this huge crowd she found him lonely. She heard few of his talks with people and they were all about business. Now she could understand why he was so desperate for her. Why he would beg her to like him. All the mysteries were solved in a single night. He was paying a price of being successful, the price of being the number one. Her heart ached more for him. She longed for him as she wanted to hug him and tell him that he has done great all this while.

"I am sorry Noah". She spoke from behind ignoring the people he was talking with.

Noah opened his eyes wide. He gave a 'What are you doing?' look to her.

"I will do what you want". Her eyes were sincere and he answered instead of saying anything more. Noah glanced at the people beside him. All of them were staring at the couple with disbelief and great interest. They could not understand what was going on between them. But his cold stare made them turn their backs. They left them alone.

"I am sorry…." She said once again, with a teary eyes and a shaky voice. Her words were simple, but her decision was visible.

Noah smiled at her. She was looking so cute right now that he wanted to pull her into a hug.

His smile…… damn. It was enough to tell her that everything has resolved.

"We will talk at home, okay?" He said while giving her assurance.

"Promise me that you will not ignore me". She was still hesitant.

"I promise". His eyes were sincere.

Carissa was thankful towards Celeste and Hani. They solved her concern and gave her a sincere opinion. They were right, why does she have to spoil her relationship just because of some strangers whom she doesn't give a damn.
