Chapter 70 Never talk back again.
Next day they came back to their place. She took a day off from the office before so a lot of her work was pending. It was Sunday but they were busy with their own things. Carissa has gotten good with the work but still she is far from the level of Noah. Living with him, is most beneficial for her. There is not a single bad thing about being married to him. Is it the same case with everyone or is she the luckiest girl? I think it is the latter.
Carissa would disturb him from time to time as there were a lot of things that she cannot still understand. In her free time she would study with him too.
Noah would help her happily. He never says no to her no matter how busy he is with the work. The day went by. Even at night she was working in the bedroom. He frowned looking at her, "Stop working now and go to sleep. You have to wake up early in the morning". He spoke like a mom that is coaxing her child to sleep.
"Okay, I will sleep in a while". She said while her fingers roamed on the keyboard. He shut the screen gaining her attention. "It's enough for today. In fact let's make a rule today".
"What?" She is curious to know.
"No work on the bed". He was damn serious about it and put her things away. Noah pulled her towards himself and she snuggled herself closer to him, "Good night". She said with her face buried in his muscular chest.
"Hmmm". He hummed in response.
In the morning, the first thing she did in the office was to meet Celeste. Because when she left the party her mood was not good and Carissa remained worried about her throughout the whole weekend, "Good morning pretty lady". She said to Celeste and handed her a cup of coffee.
"Good morning." Celeste replied plainly. Her mood was still like from the party. There were no changes. Carissa was also worried about her.
"I am sorry Celeste, if you are hurt because of me...." Carissa blamed herself for taking her to the party and then not taking a good care of her.
"Why are you getting so emotional early in the morning?" Celeste did not like these cringe worthy things.
"Celeste I am very thankful to you. I feel indebted to you with every single breath….. if you did not save me that day I would have never been able to meet Noah. I would have missed the chance of being happy. And even at the party you resolved my issue. Gosh, I don't know why but now I feel like I am getting indebted so much these days." she said the last sentence to her own self, as her talk with Noah was similar to this that night.
"Whom are you indebted apart from me?" Celeste asked while narrowing her eyes. She wanted to hear from her mouth and wanted to know if they are okay now.
"You know already….. don't try to change the topic Celeste. I want to tell you if you like Edwin then make the things work out. I don't like seeing you all alone." She is sincerely worried and concerned.
Ian also went abroad for his studies. Now Celeste lives alone. Carissa feels herself as a guardian of Celeste. Because she is happy and settled in her life she wanted to see her happy too.
"I am not alone…. I have you". Celeste pointed at Carissa as she smiled.
"I really can't have a serious conversation with you. I am going now". Carissa wanted to slap her for spouting nonsense but suppressed the urge and went to her office.
"Is it obvious?" Celeste murmured to herself in a deep thought and sipped a very hot coffee that scorched the roof of her mouth. She winced in pain. "Going to have a bad day". She once again talked to herself.
In the afternoon, Carissa was washing her hands in the restroom when Jia entered. She stopped when she looked at Carissa.
"Hi, elder sis". She greeted with sarcasm.
"Hi". Carissa replied plainly as she does not want to argue with her at all and on the top of that they are in the office.
Carissa dried her hands with a towel and she was going to leave when Jia held her arm making her stop. "Where do you think you are going?" she turned on the evil mode.
"What is it about, Jia?" Carissa tried to speak as gently as possible. In order to not aggravate her.
Jia laughed evilly, "You are really a witch. Is this how you seduce others…… with this innocent face of yours?" Jia was fuming with wrath.
Carissa's eyes changed. She is badass with those who do bad to her first and she is ready to die for those who are humble towards her, "What are you trying to imply at, Jia?"
"Like really? If you want me to be clear then let it be….. what kind of a trick you have used in order to be with Noah? Is it some spell? Why don't you share it with me? We are sisters after all."
Carissa did not like her way of talking at all. And who the hell she is to ask about her personal life. She clenched her fist when Jia dragged Noah in between, "Jia I am sorry to say but I think I am not obligated to answer you any question about my personal life".
Jia was stunned. This is the first time Carissa has talked back. In the past no matter what happened, even if they would beat her to death she would not even cry and talk back with them. She just wanted to spend her life quietly.
"Now, you can run this tongue of yours. Impressive". Jia smirked, "I will see for how long he is going to support you. You will come begging one day". She challenged her. While Carissa is sure of one thing, the world can change but Noah will never leave her.
"Even if I will have to beg one day, I will not beg you and your mother". She retaliated back again.
Carissa was getting on her nerves, Jia has always lived the life of a princess. Her wishes are always fulfilled by her parents before they come out of her mouth no matter whether they are beneficial for her or not. She has been spoiled all of her life.
Even a single word from Carissa's mouth can ignition a fire inside her.
Jia pushed Carissa towards the wall, it was so sudden that Carissa could not keep her balance in the heels. Her feet twisted and fell while her head first hit the mirror then the washbasin.
The piercing pieces of glass scattered all over, some of them were injuring her body.
Carissa felt a very sharp pain coming from her head. Jia was surprised but she maintained her composure. "Never talk back again", Jia said leaving her alone and ignoring her injury.
Carissa felt dizzy and her vision blurry. She felt something dripping from her forehead. She placed her hand at the injured part and her palm was covered with red liquid. It was bleeding.
Jia did not expect such a grave injury. She was surprised and did not know what to do but it does not concern her.
Carissa's ankle was hurting too. She ignored the pain and held the wall to support her body and tried to get up. But it was like an impossible feat. She plopped on the cold marbled floor. The soundproofing of the building is world class of course it was impossible for others to hear the noise and come for her help. Her mobile phone was not with her. All she could do right now was to wait for someone to come and help her.
