"Do you know what is happening under your nose?" Mrs. Zak shouted at her husband.

Nathan Zak stopped reading the book and looked up at his wife, "Now what's wrong? I have noticed that whenever you and Jia go outside both of you come home while shouting." He did not like the attitude of his wife at the moment.


"Yeah why not… Of course you will hate us now. We don't have any value in your eyes."

"You were going to tell me something". He tried to divert the topic.

"I met Carissa and Noah in the restaurant today. I am sure something is up between them".


Nathan Zak sighed, "And I thought what disaster is coming".

"What do you mean?" she did not quite understand his meaning.


"I mean she is an adult, it is the best time to find someone, and you are also well aware of the reputation of Noah. She cannot find someone better than him. He is a very reliable person. I have known him since he was young. If Carissa will end up with him I will not have to worry about her". He is a very open minded person and if this is what Carissa wants then he will surely support her and give her his blessings.

His reply was enough to fume her more with anger. It was no less than adding fuel on a fire. "What about me? Do you even have any idea how embarrassed I was because of them today".

"what did they do?" Nathan Zak once again opened the book as the matter was not serious at all.

"In front of my friends he told me to talk to him in honorifics. He did not give me face at all. How can you agree to make him a son in law?"

"It is his occupational habit. He is just not used to getting close with people. You should be understanding here instead of blaming him". He once again supported Noah.

"Is there some business deal going on with him?" Maybe that is the reason behind the attitude of Nathan Zak.

"There are always deals going on between us. But we are professionals, we don't mix personal and professional lives. So, the conclusion is this, let the children do what they want."

He simply shut his wife, giving her no space for negotiation.

Carissa was also ready for office. She was getting sick of staying at home. She quietly went to her office and was welcomed by a pile of pending documents. She engrossed herself in the work.

Before the lunch hour, Celeste came to meet her.

"I hate you Celeste". Carissa attacked her.

"You are very ungrateful. I helped you if you remember".

"But you never called and asked whether I was alive or not."

"I did not call you because I don't want to spoil your time with your hubby. I did you a favor in fact. And one more thing about you being dead I don't have to be worried."

"Go to hell". Carissa shouted.

Celeste ignored her shouting, "but you know with whom Jia's meeting is arranged?"

"Why do I have to be bothered about her meeting?" Carissa rolled her eyes.

"Really?" Celeste was ready to enjoy her reaction now, "And what if I say the other party is your husband?"

Within nano seconds she became interested.

"I don't believe you don't know anything about his schedule".

"I am not his secretary. Should I go?"

"Missing him already?"  Celeste was amused.

"Get out". It did not take her a second to change attitude.

Both of the girls had lunch together. She wanted to ask Noah whether he was coming or not. Because he doesn't attend all the meetings. She longed for him to come.

They were passing by a lobby when his figure entered the company. He casually glanced and passed by her. This is her workplace, any action can make things difficult for her and he is not there to protect her all the time. If it was his office he definitely would not have held himself back.

A message popped up in her phone, "Slacking off?"

Carissa did not reply to him but made her way towards the conference room. He glanced at her with a stern face, she gave him a professional smile.

The meeting started with Jia's presentation. As soon the slides were viewed on the projector, Noah said in a very strict manner, "Are you some kid? What's with the design, it is not professional at all".

He came here to embarrass her.  Celeste pinched her thigh to control her laugh.

Jia tried to compose herself once again, and started speaking. In her whole speech no one dared to say a single word. When she ended it, Noah's face was cold, which made everyone in the room break into a cold sweat except Carissa and Celeste.

"Do you know how much time you have wasted now?" He said while shooting daggers at her with his eyes. "Even a high schooler can make a better proposal than you."

Jia expected that he would make things hard but she did not like to be insulted in front of everyone like this. "What is it that you don't like?" she retorted back.

"There is not a single thing that can catch my interest.  According to you, it will take 12 years for the project to end, why do you think I will wait so long? As a businessman I am very impatient. I need profit as soon as possible. There are thousands of employees that are dependent. This is the major drawback." This surprised Jia. He had a point too. It was childish to present a proposal that will take 12 years to end.

"Another thing, even if we agree on this, the location…. Who builds resorts in the center of the city?"

Jia gave an evil look to Carissa. In her mind she is the one behind all this.

"Meeting adjourned". He spoke with authority giving them no chance to speak.

 Everybody left. Only Noah, Carissa and Celeste were in the room.

"I remember,  I have some important work to do". Celeste said, giving them some personal space.
