Carissa was still not getting out of the incident last night. More she thought about it, the more she got happier. 'Maybe I have done some good deeds in life. That's why I got him as a present. Ahhh!!! I am so happy'. She twirled the ring again in  the finger. Due to the angular moment of the light, the diamond shun brightly and radiated all the light. Unconsciously, her lips curled up into a beautiful smile.

All of it was happening in the office. Actually, present in the office but her mind was stuck with


him.

She was sitting in her father's office, who was very serious at the moment but he was looking at her with utter care and love. He was having a battle in mind. He decided upon something and gathered the courage to speak. After a long pause he finally broke the quietness of the room.

"Carissa you are my only child. Whatever I have is yours. I haven't done anything for you as a father in the past, this time let me compensate for all the previous years." He placed a file in front of her which she looked at carefully "I have transferred all the shares in your name. Your performance at work is also good. I have checked upon the performance of your work, you have the potential to lead the business. For now you are the biggest shareholder. Work here for some time more, prove your capabilities to the board of directors. I am sure in the future you can be appointed as a CEO." He stated the facts which she listened carefully.


After he was done, whatever Mr. Zak said, it made her angry and guilty at the same time. Angry because there is nothing in the world that has the ability to compensate for all the previous years she has lost. The love she deserved, can it be compensated by some share? Or the position of CEO? This lump of money is like a slap on her face. That was given to make her shirt. On the other hand, she felt victorious too. Her goal was to snatch everything from Jia and her mother and now she was successful in doing so. In the end, she was not happy. Her motive was not good at all which made her guilty. If the foundation was laid on lies and betrayal in the past by the enemies, then she tried to cut their deep roots too. With the passage of time, now her priorities are different from the past. She has a family, which is damn precious to her. There is no way that she will compromise on it and secondly, she knows what it takes to be a CEO. It is totally different from being an ordinary employee.

Noah is the biggest example of it. How he works.... no one knows it better than her.


Carissa cannot make such a big decision without him. She had no intention of accepting or rejecting it. If Noah will not like her doing work, she can give up. At least she can do this much for his sake.

"I don't know if I can take these shares and this position". There was another thing that was holding her back, she hesitated a bit but spoke her mind, "and don't forget you have a son too." She just ended this useless rivalry and what if another one will come in the story? She has no energy to deal with it now.

Jian is the only son of Mr. Zak, and the younger brother of Jia. He is a teenager now, studying in a boarding school out of the country. Jian did not have a good relationship with her mother and daughter so he decided to live on board. Jian is a good boy with a very sensitive personality. Still, Carrisa does not want to take any risk even though he is not a threat. Jian has never harmed Carissa before, in fact they were close in the past. Carissa mostly spent her life in different countries but whenever she would come back home, he was the only one to welcome her. When others despised her, he would stay by her side to console. His lil fingers would wipe the tiny droplets on her face. Besides thinking negatively about him, she also does not want to take what is his. He was not involved in anything and what is his, he deserves it. He has the whole right to claim it. Now, she really doesn't want to snatch his share.

Mr. Zak did not think that she would be worried about him. Due to oblivion, he lost a gem. Now, when his eyes are opened he makes a wise decision. "I know. I remember that I have a son. I have saved enough for him. Even if he won't work he will have enough for him to live a good life. He will have an easy life." Mr. Zak paused to take a breath, "By the way you should be selfish and think about yourself. It is not the time to talk about other". He gave her a small piece of advice.

Carissa smiled faintly. She does not age much but has a greater experience of life maybe than most of the old people, "I have seen the ending of selfishness, which is not great at all." She sighed deeply and pointed at the documents laying on the table, "I cannot accept your offer yet. I need time to make the decision."

"Okay, you can take them when you want. I will not force you. In the end, the decision is yours. Take your time and consider it carefully." Mr. Zak wanted to ask her something but he was hesitant. Carissa clearly noticed the hesitation on his face. She narrowed her eyes and asked, "Is there something bothering you?"

Mr. Zak saw the ring in her finger, "I wanted to ask…… if you will let me walk down the aisle with you?" he was reluctant but he really wants to see her getting married and having a happy life.

Carissa felt bad, her father was worried whether she would let him come to the wedding or not. He shouldn't have such thoughts, "Of course, I am trying to forget the past, not you, and I don't want to walk on the aisle alone." It will be so embarrassing. In their social circle, when the news of Noah getting married will get out, it will be a matter of time for people to know her identity. And when she has a healthy father, why walk alone??

His old and tired eyes brimmed brightly with glimmer. That means there is a chance. Chance to work on their relationship. "Thank you. My blessings are always with you". Mr. Zak could not hide the excitement. Even though Carissa does not want to but her lips automatically curled upward in a smile to see his reaction.

After talking with him, Carissa came back home. She wanted to spend time with... a love of life.

At home, husky was laying in her lap and she was running her fingers in his soft fur and he was wriggling to get more care. Meanwhile her mind was somewhere else, thinking about something deeply. Noah noticed her. Whenever she is with him, he cannot focus on anything. Noah snapped his finger in front of her eyes, snapping her back to reality. "Hey Darling!!! What is going on? Why are you looking so tense?" he asked, getting tense too.

"It is nothing serious." Carissa eased his tension, "Today my father wanted me to give the shares of the company and he also told me that given my performance in the coming years I can be appointed as the CEO." She looked at him, trying to find an answer, "I don't know whether I should accept it or not".

He thought about him carefully, "If you want to take your career further then accept it and if not then don't do it anymore. I earn enough to support you, don't strain yourself. I will support your decision". He said.

"Ugh…but right now you are not helping me at all." Instead of making it easier for her to make a decision, he was leaving it all on her.

Honestly, Noah does not want her to accept it. On the other hand, he cannot say no to her too. Having one CEO in the household is enough. Why bother having trouble?

Noah looked for an excuse to make her give up."I think, right now you can continue to work. But later when we will have a family…stop working then". Carissa choked on her saliva at his words. He was thinking of starting a family.

"You want to have kids?"

"Of course. I am already 30. It is the perfect time. I want to have kids as soon as possible. Why don't you want to?"

'I would love to. I have imagined it various times to have a family with you. I would be so beautiful'. Carissa silently thought. But in front of him, she scratched the back of her head, "well we can". Her face was blushing. It was not easy to give words to the thoughts. Noah moved forward towards her, he was so close that they were inhaling each other's breathing. "For that, you will have to work hard". He whispered in her ear. "with your stamina it won't be possible." Carissa pushed him away from his shoulder, "will you stop making fun of me? Or want to sleep alone?
