Chapter 110 Be a man and take responsibility.
His immoveable body could not react, but his eyes were poring.
He was hating himself for being unable to see her.
To be unable to touch her.
He hates himself for making her cry....
For making her beg.
That was a cruelest choice he has ever made.
He was always afraid of making her cry, but what was he doing right now? He fell for her when she took off the tough shield and showed her tears. Today, he disliked it from the core of heart.
He heard her saying once again. "EDWIN PLEASE". She kneeled down. Even the onlookers could not help but tear up. Her forehead touching the door and her desperate hands trying to grasp anything. But on a wood door there was nothing.
She was all alone once again in life.
Not seeing him now was one thing and the fear of losing him was another.
The thought of losing him aggravated her. "HEY... I WILL NOT FORGIVE YOU". She shouted.
When he heard her talking about forgiveness, it made things worse.
Edwin grabbed the phone from the side table. When the rescue officer took it her carefully handed over all the belongings to the hospital as a result they were safe.
His fingers roamed on the screen and he sent it.
Meanwhile outside the hospital ward, Celeste beds her phone beeping. She ignored it. Bus Carissa held her shoulders softly and nodded as a signal to look at it.
Celeste was confused but she opened the message and unexpectedly said from him, "Yeah, don't forgive me. Please get lost now". Her fingers trembled after reading two sentences from him and the eyes stopped shedding. Celeste wiped her tears with the back of hand in anger and wrote in frustration. "Okay fine. I will not come to see you again but keep in mind it, I am waiting for you. I am waiting for you to come back as soon as possible and I am sure I will not be the only one there for you". Her breath was hitching.
Edwin was not sure of her words, he did not give them any importance and threw the phone aside.
"I am going". Celeste said from the other side.
He was dead from inside, and dead from outside. Only the heart is beating, making him aware of the warmth of life. Making him realize that the world hasn't turned cold.
The world hasn't turned his back fully yet.
But there are no expectations, no anticipations, no hope.
He is here all alone without any support confined around the 4 walls.
He is just a pitiful being in the eyes of others.
People try to sympathize with him. Why? Because he is such a young, handsome, well educated man but his lower limbs are not supporting his body and he hates those eyes, the meaning behind them. His career has ended too.
Edwin chose to be a pilot because he loved the feeling of being in the air. He loved it when the world was under his feet. It was pure ecstasy. But even in the wildest dream, he never thought that the world is gonna soon trample over him.
If he had to choose between death and this disabled life, he would surely have chosen death without any hesitation.
A man of pride and ego!!
Laying in the room alone for the whole day is the only thing that he can do. All he does during the whole day and night is looking at the ceiling. He remembers all the details of the room and the hospital but there is one more thing that has happened without his permission.
How will he react..... it is still a mystery.
Edwin still being unaware of the fact that he is the reason, that a life is coming into shape in her womb he threw his head on the pillow twice harshly due to the anger and helplessness.
They all gave him some time alone.
To think,
To reflect,
And to come to a conclusion.
When Celeste was about to leave Edwin's father stopped her. He placed a cup of juice in front of Celeste. She was not herself. Her long dark hair, roughly tied up, her eyes were red and swollen and lost somewhere, in a single night she was looking so haggard and drained.
After a long pause he heard her, "Uncle, can you tell Edwin about the baby? He is not ready to listen to me. There is no way for me to tell him. I will accept his decision, if he is ready to take responsibility for the baby, then that's fine, I will wait for him. Otherwise, I will go away from him...." a tear dropped on her cheek, "and I will never come in front of him again".
"Celeste you are taking him wrong. He is not ready to face anything right now. We should support him, try to boost up his morale so he can get better soon. You don't have to go anywhere and I am sure he will be very happy to know he is gonna be a father". She remained silent in his response. His father was sure that he would never abandon her. He will accept her no matter what.
Carissa was also sitting with them, "Celeste why don't you live with me for some days?" She was worried about how she would live alone in this condition. So, she suggested.
As expected the offer was denied instantly, "I am fine. I can manage on my own". But she wants to be alone, "I am going home. There is no need for me to stay". She spoke while standing up.
"Go home with a driver". Carissa shouted from behind but Celeste ignored her.
Both of them sighed loudly. They are in a difficult spot too.
Edwin's father went to see him, but he closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep. He came back disappointedly.
"Noah can you talk to him and please persuade him for physiotherapy. He is not listening to me". He looked helpless. In a single night, he suddenly started to look older. "Don't worry I will talk to him. You should go home and have a rest. I am here with him."
"Thank you. This is all I can say".
"It's okay". He looked at Carissa, "You should go back too."
She nodded with concern, "What about Celeste?"
He patted her head, "Let her calm down on her own. You can talk to her later, okay?"
"Okay. Take care". Carissa said and left the hospital. Noah sighed at the door of his room, he clenched his teeth, went inside and sat beside him, who was still pretending to be asleep.
"You know, you cannot deceive me. Look at me otherwise I have other ways too".
He still remained motionless. "Okay, continue to pretend, continue to act like an immature child, I will do the same. I am sitting here and will not leave until you will listen to me". He also announced his decision and his eyes did not leave him even for a second. Edwin can feel his hot stares which were making him frustrated.
"WHAT?" Edwin shouted with his hoarse throat, glaring at Noah.
"After recovering, start your physiotherapy".
"Why should I? When there is no chance".
"Who said there is no chance? Don't tell me you are going to give up and keep laying in the corner. The chances of recovery are all dependent on your will. After recovering from injuries go abroad and get a best physiotherapist, work hard on it. I am sure everything will work out in the end".
Edwin thought of all of his talk as a blabbering, it was not enough to motivate him. "It is easy to talk, Noah. You are aware that I am not a strong willed person. I don't have such a strong will that will motivate me to get back on my feet".
"Then what motivation do you need?" Noah paused and looked at him seriously, getting ready to drop a bomb at him, "If I tell you that you are going to be a father...... is it still not enough?"
Edwin looked paler, his lips turned white and dry, while he opened his eyes wide in disbelief. "You are lying".
"Am I lying?" Noah smirked, "Your face is telling me clearly about what you have done. Be a man and take responsibility. Stop being such a weakling."
Edwin ignored his scolding, "Are you sure about this?"
Noah nodded, "I am damn sure. The rest is up to you".
He saw her message about something urgent a while ago, but did not talk to her. So, this was the urgent matter.
Was he happy?
Was he sad?
This feeling was new and weird. If he had heard this new under the normal circumstances, he must have been over the moon. But now there was a lot to think. A lot to reconsider.
