The Foster family's security system was top-tier, and with the additional personnel Blake had brought in, Howard's men couldn't get anywhere near the villa.

They remained at a standstill outside for an entire night.

At dawn, the sound of police sirens approached from a distance.

Blake had called the police.

Seeing the situation turn unfavorable, the men in black immediately tried to escape by car, but were caught red-handed by police who had already set up an ambush.

They were caught with evidence.

Soon, the police called Blake's phone.

"Mr. Foster, we've apprehended a group of suspicious individuals attempting to infiltrate your residence. After interrogation, they confessed they were acting under the instructions of someone named Howard Gordon."

"May I ask if you or your family know this person?"

Blake put the call on speakerphone, and his ice-cold voice resonated throughout the living room.

"I know him."

"He's my sister's former fiancé who, after failing to marry her, harbored resentment and attempted to kidnap her."

The police officer on the other end of the phone made a note: "Understood, Mr. Foster, we'll immediately begin investigating Mr. Gordon. We may need your sister to provide a statement later."

"No problem."

After hanging up, Blake looked at me with deep, penetrating eyes.

"Now, he won't be getting out anytime soon."

I breathed a sigh of relief, my nerves finally relaxing after being tense all night.

My whole body went limp.

Blake quickly caught me and lifted me up in his arms.

"Get some sleep first. Leave the rest to me."

I nestled in his embrace, breathing in his reassuring scent, and fell into a deep sleep.

This time, I slept especially soundly.

By the time I woke up, it was already afternoon.

The sunlight outside was perfect, but I felt sore all over, and my head was fuzzy.

I had a fever.

Blake walked in with medicine and water, felt my forehead, and frowned.

"You have a fever of 102 degrees. Take this medicine first; I've already called the family doctor."

I obediently took the medicine, and he tucked me back under the blanket.

He sat at the edge of the bed, dampened a towel with warm water, and gently placed it on my forehead.

His movements were gentle, his eyes full of concern.

Looking at his handsome face so close to mine, I inexplicably asked: "Blake, do you like me?"
