WHO HAS THE SAY
Cha! This Damian guy has everyone on his crutches. Meh! I will give him that, though. I don't know what I would have done without him this past week.
"Pinky promise! I won't do this alone!" I mumble.
"Alright. I guess we can't change your mind, so guys, let's pack." Rose says.
They all get out of bed and grab their bags to pack their stuff. "While you guys do that, I will go check if the breakfast is ready and ask the nanny to set the table for us." I say this as I spring to my feet.
"We are having breakfast downstairs." Rose queries.
"Yes. I'm tired of being cooked up in this room, so a change of scenery today." I state.
"What about the witches of this castle? Won't we stir trouble?" Grace asks.
"Well, if they act crazy, then we play sane and mature. They will shut up on their own if we don't succumb to their classless squabble." I explain.
"Ooh, wow! I love your spirit today, girl! Go! Go! Go! Show them who the only heir of Sir Riccaford is! But if they get on my nerves, I will wash their faces with my hot coffee." Sherry says, and I sure am sure she can do that.
All the same, I vigorously march to the door, but something weird strokes me—my guards! The whole squadron of five pairs is not here. I was about to fret, but some commotion from downstairs caught my attention. I stroll to the balcony of the hallway and look down.
All the servants of the castle are in the living room, from the security guards to the nannies, with Gracia majestically addressing them like a Disney queen ordering her maids. That's not all. Shockingly enough, countless satchels are plopped on the floor, and most dejecting are their bowed-down dull faces.
What are you up to, Gracia?
I recharge my energy and steer downstairs, and in a minute, I am standing on the last staircase in front of everyone.
"You all can leave now, and nobody is permitted to come back to this castle for whatever reason." I halted at the right time when Gracia was giving her order.
What the heck! He is firing them? All of them? Forget about "with who's authority," because I know what she will say, but for what reasons is she terminating them all in one go?
I watch as they unwillingly and hopelessly bend to grab their bags.
I don't know what kind of monsters Gracia and her daughter are, nor do I know their motives, but I have a heart. I have humanity in me, and I am sure that these people have done nothing wrong against these witches.
"NOBODY LEAVES!" I yell and walk to stand beside this witch! The servants drop their bags and slightly bow to me as they rack their feet again. "Can someone care to explain what is going on here?"
"You have..."
"I am not," I yell at Gracia, and she zips her stinking mouth, "talking to you, Gracia!" I finish fuming and turn to the servants after firing the witch a silencing, daring glance. "Nanny Aisha?" I call, rummaging through the multitude with my eyes until she finds her way in front of me.
"Yes, miss?" She responds.
"What happened? Where are you all going?" I ask.
"Uumh. Back to our homes, miss. Gracia just fired us all this morning." She explains.
"May I know why?" I ask again.
"Because I just felt like replacing these incompetent fools! I am tired of seeing their faces every single day. I want a change. New faces. People who know exactly what I am paying them for." Gracia howls, almost deafening me with her reverberating clamors.
Really? We have had some of the hardworking servants like Nanny Aisha here and a lot of them ever since ages ago and not even my own father complained about any of them lurking in their jobs. How dare fire them on the grounds of incompetence?
I turn to her, anger boiling in me. "Some of these people have been working for this family for the longest time, even before you came in. Almost half of them have been here for decades, since I was a child. And you have the balls to just wake up one morning and fire them just because you fucking feel like it? With no reason at all? Have you even compensated them?"
"Compensation? What are they? CEO's? COO's? They are nothing but filthy servants who I can replace any minute I feel like!" she howls.
This woman is really crossing the line here. Aren't these servants a million times better than her useless daughter? At least they are making good use of their lives and energy. They are feeding on their own sweat. Some of them have families, and it is what they do here that keeps their families running. And this lazi ass who knows nothing about working has the audacity to insult them like this?
"You and your whore of a daughter are the pathetic ones here, Gracia! These people are humans, hardworking humans, and you have no right whatsoever to treat them like useless dogs or mere garbage! Have you even no conscience? Have you thought of how they are going to fend for themselves and their families after this?" a sneer.
She scoffs like the insensitive bitch that she is. "I don't fucking care! And you better watch your tongue, you bitch!"
Bitch, huh? Well, thank you! I might as well embrace that as my second name. With pride! I can even wear it as a crown on my head for all to see.
I inch in closer, speaking boldly with all my coll lost, "I understand that you are battling the overwhelming anxiety of all this upscale life, which you have never experienced before in your useless life, and I am willing to help you adjust, Gracia! For starters, this is definitely not the way things are done here. We, the wealthy class, follow what we call protocol. To just wake up one morning and fire anyone without any valid reason is utter stupidity and an insult to our social status." I state.
"Are you trying to be insulting, or did that just slip out by mistake?" She fumes.
