PLAN TO BUY THE DEAD COMPANY

"Alright, Grace. You take care of things over there for now. I will come over when all this is over," I say over the phone, trying to keep my voice steady.

"Okay, Ellie. Be careful, okay?" Grace replies, her worry evident even through the phone.

"I will. Um, by the way, Grace, did you find anything about your brother's company bankruptcy?" I almost forgot about it amidst the chaos of everything else happening.

There is a pause before she answers; her hesitation is palpable. "I did, but I didn't want to add more baggage. I mean, with all that is happening."

"Come on, Grace! You know I will always have time for you. So, what did you find out?" I asked, my curiosity piqued and my concern for her growing.

"Well, that jerk-ass brother of mine wore down the company to the roots. He is swimming in debt; the employees went on a strike three months ago because he hadn't paid them for six months; and the partners pulled out. The company has ceased operation since the workers went on a strike, and since he has no way of saving it, he is dissolving it." Grace explains.

Biting too much of what you can chew! Avarice has its stipends, and Karma is a sweet bitch! He ripped off his only sibling and the only thing that their parents left for them, yet he couldn't even manage it. He denied her even a chance to pursue her dreams, education-wise. Little did he know that karma is such a merciless bitch! Now, let's see who will have the last laugh.

"Okay, Grace. Email me all the information you got. I have a plan," I say, determination setting in.

"What is your plan?" she queries with a pragmatic trinket in her voice.

"We are buying the company!" I state it directly to the point, and I know she is freezing with shock wherever she is, if not fainting.

"What? It is a dead company, Ellie! It is beyond repair!" she exclaims, disbelief coloring her tone.

"I know," I calmly state, a sense of resolve settling over me.

"But I don't think you understand, Ellie. There is nothing left of the company. Why would you want to fritter your money on something that can't be revived?" she asks.

"Is that how you want your family's name to go down? Don't you want to at least try and do something?" I challenge, and I would have knocked some sense into her head if she was right before me. I mean, does she think she wants to give up that easily? And does she think I would just waste my money like that?

"At this point, Ellie?"

"Yes, Grace! Is it hard to start from scratch? Or getting up after hitting rock bottom? Don't you have faith in yourself?" I ask.

"But, Ellie..."

"No buts, Grace!" I cut her off. I know how much it would mean to her. She is just being weird right now. 'I'm helping you rebuild that company, and I am not accepting any excuses, and you, Grace, better not fail me!" I state.

I hear a jubilant sigh from her head. I know she wants this. "Okay. I'll send you the information asap!" She says it in a low key, and I bet she is taking deep breaths.

"Great. I will go see your brother tomorrow or the day after, and I will let you know." I explain.

"Okay. Thanks a lot, bestie. I have no way of repaying you for everything," she whimpers, and I hope she does not have tears in her eyes right now. She has done so much for me too, you know.

"Hey! Don't even think of crying, Grace!" I warn because I can sense it in her tone.

"I am just so overwhelmed, bestie."

"Well, save your tears of joy for some other time. And don't worry, I know of a way you can repay me," I tease.

"Anything for you, bestie. Just name it," she says.

"Mmh. Right now, just take care of my coffee shop. I will tell you what else you can do for me later." I say.

"Okay."

"Alright. Bye now. I gotta get my ass moving. A thousand things await me today." I say.

"Good luck in all of them! And stay safe, Ellie."

"I will. Thank you. Bye."

I cut the call and sprung to my feet. I should go check on breakfast before Damian gets out of the shower. But before that, I need to check on my other two friends. Damn me!

I dial Roses's number, and just at the same time, a slight spank on my buttocks tickles me. I turn around to my sweet husband, who is dribbling wet from the shower with only a towel enclosing her forbidden area. This is an incredibly tempting sight this morning, but do we even have time for this? No! A series of things await us ahead: meetings with the detectives, the new attorney, and the company. and the company. I still need to talk to that witch before we leave.

The call goes directly to voice mail, and so does Sherry's line. It's unusual for them to be asleep at this hour.

"You sure need to get this sweet ass moving. We are running late." Damian says, grinding my butt with his hands.

"Mmh. Your mouth says one thing, but your hands say another."

"Everything else in me wants us to stay locked up in this room, even for a day, to quench our desires. But I know we need to focus on some issues first." He says, and his eyes depict just how much he longs for this, just as I do.

But, as he said, we can't afford to lose focus. We can't delay our plans even for a single minute. We need to end this so that we can have all the time we need to be with each other in absolute peace.

"When all this is over, we will have the entire forever together. With no worries at all." I say, nuzzling his jaws as we browse each other's eyes.
